My starting weight was 320 lbs and with the two week required protein meal replacement shakes lost 6 pounds week one and as of this morning down 9 lbs. Surgery just 4 days away and I can't wait. It's been a long time coming and finally!!! I'm not big on writing about the unknown events but will post as I embrace my journey in the very near future.

So excited for you!  You are making a life altering chance.  You are going to Mexico too.  What surgery are you having.  I was researching Mexico when my insurance went to a 1 in a lifetime WLS policy.  Your surgeon was on my short list.

You are doing great with your protein diet.  Keep hanging in there.

No didn't go to Mexico, had surgery in the states. My insurance pays so didn't have to make the trip.  Had the sleeve.  Started at 320 lbs post op 308 on surgery date and 314 3 days post op... only me to gain....LOL!

Totally normal to gain.  It is the fluid from the IV's.  Those IV pounds will fall of.  I came home 18 pounds heavier as they double bagged me to get enough fluid going.

Good luck with your sleeve.  I am loving mine.

Wishing you a textbook recovery, no pain other than inhospital and they give you happy pills so you shouldnt feel that...I needed no pain meds when I left hospital on the third day, and never looked back. I was 62 at time of surgery, never reached goal weight, but am pudgy middle aged normal now and no one gives me a second look, and I dont wear chairs on my hips anymore when I get up, and can slide in and out of booths at restaurants, dont need a seatbelt extender on planes, all great small improvements to my life among so many others too numerous to mention.

Wishing you all the best, you will maybe feel rotten and have buyers remorse while in hospital wondering what you did to yourself, we've all been there done that, it so gets better after the first few days and you are back home in your own comfy bed and following your meal plan religiously ....let us know how you are doing.....

May you enjoy all the benefits of WLS and live the rest of your life to the fullest!

Thanks Jennifer, buyer's remorse didn't hit until today day 4 post op.  For some reason I'm having pain in one area, have not lost any weight but actually gained.... back on blood pressure pills and water pills hopefully to get this fluid under control.  Gas is really a issues and can't seem to get it to move. But all is well I'll call the doctor's office in the morning.

Sounds great!  Wishing you a wonderful "new"life post-op!!!  Be compliant and you will be amazed a year from now!!!
