Go Green

I have made a commitment to go green for a week.   The commitment is especially good for going green for the tummy. Here are a few of the going green things for me.

Only green vegetables--green beans, greens, peas, broccoli. etc.

No take out or eating out--save money, eat healthier, and stop filling the landfills with all the packaging from fast food or convenience foods.

Take the opportunity to walk so either catch a bus, car pool, or at least park as far away from the store, your job, or the other as possible.

Oh...list your going green commitment

Buy organic--I know it costs more but it is healthier for you and if you cannot buy organic, try for free ranged.

Spend the day getting organized to recycle.   I have my bins for plastic, glass, paper, and others and I always half ass do it so this week, I am planning on doing better.

Either ask for paper or take your on bags to carry your food home.

Remember, our bodies and our planet are living, breathing organisms that depend upon our brains to take care of them...so today make a week long commitment to take care of you.

What do you do to go green...and what are your favorite green foods to eat.

We also do recycling here of sorts...anything the recycle takes that pays him for it...;-)

We park far away from the store when we shop. He doesn't want his truck dinged up from some idiot...;-)

What greens do I like? Salads, green beans, brussel sprouts, broccoli and peas.

We also take our own bags to the store when grocery shopping. We have enough plastic bags around here!!

Judy,

I'm with you on the parking and walking but not for the same reasons.  I just don't have the patience to drive around looking for a spot close to the door.

Last year, I made a ton of bags from old jeans and while the checker person gets pissed that I bring them with me instead of the ones they sell, I don't have to find something to do with all that plastic.  I like that we are seeing more stores offering paper.

I love peas and carrots but peas are my favorite vegetable.

I keep and take back my plastic bags to reuse.  I also have the cloth ones when I remember.  We pay extra every year to have our recyclables picked up.  We set out at least one can full every other week.

I too park as far away as I can.  For all the above reasons.

Greens for the tummy, eck!  I can tolerate broccoli with cheese sauce and greens for salad that's about it.
