Rainy Wednesday!
Good morning sistas!
Oh, I got such a nice surprise when I opened the back door to let the puppies out this morning. RAIN! Not a lot, but at least it's wet out there!
I don't think I've told y'all that I've gained another puppy here. Lulu is staying with us again for awhile. Lulu is our little rescue dog. She kinda belongs equally to Carrie and to me. Lulu had a lot of problems adjusting to Benny, so she went to live with Carrie for awhile. But she's an escape artist and she displays a lot of aggression towards other dogs in Carrie's neighborhood. It was getting to be a problem, so she's back with me again. So far so good. We love this little problem dog! She's sweet as sugar except when she's not!
Butch made it to Nacogdoches yesterday and will go see his doctor this morning. This is the urologist who treats him for the prostate cancer. He's back on hormone therapy again right now and it's time for his quarterly check in and another shot. He told me things were fine at our other lakehouse, only it needed cleaning. I said, "So why don't you clean it?" He informed me that cleaning wasn't on his to-do list this time. Really? Men!
So today is quite a gift for myself. I have the whole day alone! Benny and Chris are gone and I don't have to do anything for anyone until I go pick Benny up this afternoon! Whoo hoo! I think I'm gonna make myself a "nest" in the living room with my crochet and some movies and enjoy my time off!
I hope we hear some good news from Judy today. I don't know what to think about that doctor of hers. I thought doctors were supposed to be dedicated to HELPING people in pain.
The new threads are very exciting. I'm enjoying reading them. I will try to participate as best I can, but it's a little intimidating. I'm not sure my daily menu can stand the scrutiny! Yikes! I think I eat a whole lot more than the rest of you seem to.
Looking forward to hearing about everyone's day today. Praying for those with family/health issues.
Love you all!
Good Morning Vickie and OFF-
So happy to hear that there's some rain in Texas which desperately needs it.
Sunny here in Maine today. Got up early this morning. I've done my 55 minutes on the elliptical which was harder this morning. I've decided to up my workouts to 5 days a week on the elliptical and yoga on the other days. I paddled with my neighbor last night and was sore when I went to bed. This morning I'm sore and my knees are aching but I'm sure it's not like the pain Judy is suffering or Nancy B with her chemo.
Off to Bangor today to attend the first Mindful Eating class. Looking forward to learning new things to hopefully help me combat my regain and get back on the losing track. I appreciated Nancy B's post the other day about her weight loss journey. Perhaps I should be chasing some other measurement of success rather than a number on a scale or clothes. After reading that post I cleaned out my closet of all the clothes that don't fit, they'll go to Goodwill today. Two years ago I wouldn't have been able to paddle around in a kayak. My mobility is light years ahead of what it was before my WLS surgery. Got to focus on the positive.
Tomorrow I'll go back to Bangor for a one on one session with the psychologist. Need some help getting my head back into the pre-surgical mindset.
I started one of the baby quilts yesterday. And last night I quilted with my kayak buddy. She has put together a wonderful quilt made with her grandmothers old dresses. She's going to give it to her mother. This is the second quilt she's made with her grandmother's old clothing. The first she gave to her father as it was made from his mother's aprons. Vickie- Hope you saw the Facebook message about the second table runner. I think that one is doable too. I found my old notes from my cousin on how to make quilting a little easier. I'm going to scan them and send them to you later this week.
Uploading another 500 photos for the photo selection team to look at for the book. These have accumulated since July 1 and have lots of great images of baby birds.
Well, that's about all from Maine. Gotta take my achy body to the shower and then head to Bangor for my class. Positive thoughts to all of you in need of support. Judy hope the doctor gives you something that will give you relief. Laureen sorry to read about your brother's passing, that was a wonderful tribute that you wrote to him the other day. Have a great day ladies.
Cindi
Cindi,
Yes, I got your note! Sorry I didn't respond. Toddleritis rules this household at times and I don't get to act like an adult! LOL!
I'm excited to try my hand at quilting again. It's something I've always wanted to do. I want to make that fractured Texas Flag quilt first. It will hang in my entry hall. But I've always wanted to make a table runner, and this looks like fun! I appreciate your help so much! Looking forward to the notes from your cousin.
Kudos to you for all you're doing this summer! I prolly need to go see a NUT and a PSYCH, too. I'm feeling a bit out of control again. I was doing better before Butch went back to work last month, but then I sort of fell apart. I guess this is a battle that never ends. Sigh.
Let us know how the mindful eating class goes. I'm very interested.
Morning All!
Little cooler here this morning which is nice! I'm ready for fall.
Getting ready to go see my sister in Oregon in a couple of weeks. We're going to spend the week quilting and canning. She and I are they only ones left in the family everyone else has passed. So seeing her and spending time with her is precious.
My daughter Krissy (17 yrs) has taken an interest in sewing, she is making hair bows for all her friends and they paying her to do it. So I got her a little sewing machine which will be here today. I got tried of watching her try and use my 30 yr old machine. I can finally throw that old thing away.
Hope you all have a great day, thoughts and prayers for all,
Debbie
Hi Debbie! Oh, girl, I'm so envious of your quilting and canning! I love to bake from scratch and can produce and make jellies and jams and all of that. I was born in the wrong era! I should have been a 1950s farm wife. LOL!
I think that's great about Krissy wanting to sew. I never could get either one of my girls interested in it. They do like to cross stitch, and Christie loves to crochet. What a neat mother/daughter thing for y'all to share.
Have a wonderful time with your sister, sista! (LOL!)
Hi Vickie and my OFF family:
I'm still feeling miserable. The cold is now in my sinuses, and I have a headache. At least I slept until 10:30 a.m. from about midnight. I did get up once coughing and watched TV for awhile ... fell asleep watching TV and got up while the program I was watching finished (it was a DVR'd program).
So no big plans today. I need to put laundry away from yesterday (didn't do it yesterday), although I did get the bed made up after washing sheets, mattress pad and comforter. Just didn't feel like folding clothes. Most of it is underwear and socks and t-shirts, so they don't really wrinkle.
Nothing tastes good right now ... even my coffee tastes funny. Not sure if that's because I descaled my Keurig or I just can't taste anything. Anyway, still not up to doing a whole lot. Hopefully, I'll feel better tomorrow because I have to go to work.
Vickie, enjoy your solitude. Don't remember anything else. My head is too filled with crap.
Eileen how do u descale your Keurig? Ive never heard of that.
Im overwhelmed with all the new threads! Cant keep up with all of it!
On the daughter front, No news yet. I havent left for Chicago yet. She is still working. We r on the countdown though.
Her older cat isnt doing well. He is tolerating the insulin shots, But isnt walking very well, She is talking him back to the vet in the morning.
He is diabetc.
Carla, on the instruction you got when you got your Keurig it should tell you how to descale it. But it's basically the same as when you're doing it to a regular drip coffee maker. You take vinegar and water and run it through the coffeemaker several times. With the Keurig, you have to fill the reservoir with water and vinegar and push "brew" a number of times (with a cup there), then dump what's remaining of the mixture and fill with clean, cold water. Then you've descaled it. It comes up every few months and tells you to "descale."
As for your daughter's cat, he's got neuropathy, just like a human diabetic. Tell your daughter to get some borage oil capsules from Walmart. She can open them up and squirt them in some moist food and mix it in a couple times a week. It will help with the neuropathy. Kittle had that, too. Plus, once the blood sugar is under control, he'll start walking better.
