MONDAY...LABOR DAY WHAT'S UP???
Well its foggy as heck here in my neck of the woods this morning. WOW!!! But the temps are cooler so I welcome that...68* right now.
I didn't take those pain pills yesterday because of the headaches and feeling like throwing up. Boy did I pay for that all night and now this morning!! HURT!!!!!!! Guess I am going to have to take one today so this pain goes down!! I am calling the dr tomorrow and DEMAMNDING A SHOT FOR THIS PAIN!!! Something has to work better than these pills!!!
We had the 4th of July fireworks last night uptown. They did a whole 20 minutes. Yippeee. It brought a ton of people here though to see them and along with it TROUBLE MAKERS!!! The police scanner was going nuts with all the calls!!! We stayed home.
Today Rick wants to cook on the grill. Michael is also coming over. NICE. They can keep each other company. I am making some potato salad. Just not up to anything else. We have steak for our meat and Michael has some ribs.
Well I need to get going feeling sick again. Sighs.....
Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them.
HUGSSSSSSSSS
Good morning friends!
Its rainy here in Georgia today. Fits my mood, kinda sucks to have to start the pre op clear liquid diet on a holiday, but i am excited that my surgery is only 48 hours away.... so close, i am so ready....
Spent part of my Sunday making homemade chicken and beef broth so i have something yummy for my clear liquid diet, as well as after i get home from the hospital.
i will spend today preparing, find a bag for the hospital, and line up the things i have to take and do before i go. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am with surgery at 730. They wont have to put me to sleep, i will already BE asleep, lol.
Jan
Jan,
You should go pick up some sugar free jello (get those already made) and some sugar free popsicles too.
My doctor kept me on liquids for what seemed like years, so I made some really good broths--chicken, beef, vegetable--onion--clam--fish. I know, fish and clam and oyster seemed like gross but let me tell you, when you are drinking liquids while others are eating good food, sometimes, the stronger tasting the better.
When I moved from clear to full liquid, I just added a little heavy cream and butter to those broths. And I also would blend up a little bit of meat to mix with the broth like oysters for the oyster or fish broth, chicken for the...well you get it. Just a little bit though.
What you should take to the hospital: I think we talk about this a lot but I think I will mention it again: lip balm...lotion...slippers that you can just slip your feet in...a warm housecoat cause you will walk the halls....something to read.
Jan wishing you the best of luck on your big day!!! Don't take to much stuff with you because you will not use it...trust me!! You will be feeling more like sleeping than reading or knitting...LOL But DO take the chapstick and your slippers and a robe...but if I were you...I would just use their gowns as they have the snaps that can be worked around all the hook ups they have on you...just my opinion. Remember to sip sip sip and walk walk walk!!!! Oh...I also used the SF Carnation Instant breakfast when I got home. That is what they gave us after our WLS. You can add your own protein powder to it also. ANY WHEY is the best no clumps or bad after taste and you can also use it in cooking. GNC has it and not sure if WALMART has or not now its been a long time since I bought it. PURE PROTEIN is also good tasting. The drinks and the bars. :-)
Glad that you have your husband supporting you like he is!!!! THAT is GREAT!!!!! Mine was a JERK!!!!!! But he is now gone...I moved on to a MUCH happier life!!!!!! :-)
HUGSSSS
Lucky you, I had a two week pre-surgery liquid diet. For 24 hours I had to drink fruit flavored shakes that we had to order thru BetterMD. We could have broth, jello and such for that two weeks but, just those shakes for the last 24 hours.
Good luck getting your bag and such ready to go. Wishing you a safe and healthy surgery, recover and weight loss journey.
Judy, sounds like I need to be at your house today with the weather and a cookout!!!
Jan, good luck! My husband has to be at the hospital at 8:30 in the morning for vertical sleeve at 11:30 so we know what you are going through. I am scheduled for RNY on the 17th so it gives him two weeks to get back up on his feet. lol
I don't know what is going on but I have had a low grade fever for like a week now (99.9-101) up and down. My PCP put me on a z-pack and I've been doing tylenol but cant seem to shake the fever. I'm really scared that they will postpone my surgery because of this so of course this is causing stress like I cannot tell you all. Not sure what to do?????? Hugs to all Karen
Hi Karen...wow not sure how to help you on your fever....guess keep doing the Z-pack and pray for the best!!! STOP stressing as it might be feeding that fever!!!! Think of things to do to get your mind off it.
I really don't think this cook-out is going to be that much fun...the guys will drink and I feel miserable...haha. But if you lived closer you would be more than welcome!!! :-)
Tell your husband GOOD LUCK and we will ALL be thinking of him!! Post back on how he is doing....Tell him its a WILD RIDE and to hang on!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you take some chapstick for him also for after surgery. Dry lips/mouth are no fun when they will not give you anything to drink yet!!!!
HUGSSSSSSSSS
Judy,
Do you still have your gallbladder? There are a few people that when they have stones will have horrible shoulder pain before the nausea and vomiting. I had gallstones years before wls and my shoulder blade killed me. My doctor kept doing test on my shoulder and gave me tones of medicine for the shoulder and nothing helped. Then, I began the nausea and vomiting, and he still thought it was my arthritis, and then I turned yellow...he Xrayed my gut area and there it was.
