Thank you, this explains a lot. I have been trying to lose my regain. I lost some, only to regain again. I agree a lot of it has to do with little to no exercise because of my pain issues. I have knocked out the crackers (one of my big cravings). I need to get back to keeping track of everything again. I was pretty religious about it for about a month, but then I got off it.

I do drink lots of water, always did. Also retain lots of fluid in my legs since my knee surgeries. I have started doing a little exercise ... walking up and down the hall at work whenever I have the chance. Granted, it's not a lot of exercise, but it's something.

Crackers are my weakness and justified for the longest time that because they had peanut butter on them, they were fine.  Any food that allows us to over eat is wrong...crackers glide right on out of the pouch into the small intestines. Ellen it's good you are aware of what's up and are working on changing some eating and improving your movements.

I have regained 15 pounds since I moved down here and started keeping Benny full time.  Sigh.  Kid foods are so quick and easy to munch on.  Animal crackers, goldfish crackers, peanut butter on a banana, . . .   I graze all day.  I know what I'm doing is wrong, but I just keep doing it.  I have a big glass of water in front of me right now.  I'm going to drink 4 of them today.  Thanks, Jeannie!

Since you seem to notice that you are grazing on all the wrong things, and since they seem to be connected with the baby, perhaps, you could change the types of foods that you buy for the baby: replace crackers and chips with cheese and fruit.  Because my grandchildren love chips and cookies, we have a plan, since I cannot eat sweets without getting sick, they can have snack food cookies in the house but I can eat chips and crackers, so they use the healthy alternatives: 1) pepperoni chips are delicious; 2) Jamica (probably spelled wrong) are also wonderful when they are thinly sliced and baked; I believe Kale is good made into chips too.  Plus, we do a lot of fruit and raw vegetables.

Because I am at my desk most of the day, I keep julienne carrots, slices celery, broccoli and cauliflower, and radishes.   I can grab a handful and eat without worrying about calories from sugars or fats.  I'm sure you will find a workable solution to the grazing.  I am a grazer by nature, so for me healthy grazing foods is the best.

Thanks for this Jeanne. . .  I need to get with it, I've been lost for a while, partly because of making bad choices, but more out of frustration over the weight that has come back on and doesn't want to leave, even when I have increased my activity level. . . I believe it is carbs, even though I use whole wheat or multigrain and think I'm not eating too much, what I think is my body does not have the ability to metabolize those things like "normal" people, sort of the way my body does not process alcohol the way other's do. . .  I am committed to getting with it.

Laureen,

I think the further out from surgery that we get, the more complacent we become in terms of scheduling exercise, eating foods that are better for us, and even measuring our portions.  I admire those people who can be 100% committed all the time; however, I am one of those people who must work at it.

What works for me is scheduling everything weight loss related.  I am going to post about it later tonight, but you know what I mean by scheduling...eat at the same time, measure, exercise at the same time .....

You will get back on track.  Look, I'm not a person who likes to talk on the phone because my hearing is so bad, but if you want a text buddy, message me your number and I will happily do the text me and let me talk you out of the refrigerator.

THANK YOU!!!

I had my Lap Band in 2007. The first six months I had some food issues and didn't actually lose as rapidly as I had heard I would, but loose I did.

I have had plateaus of three or four months but the truth is, I know that I need to JACK my metabolism.  I need to sweat.  I know I have lost weight more rapidly when I excercised in the past.  Here I am at 53 and you take away my aches and pains by describing your condition.  Wow. GOOD FOR YOU. Great attitude.

I have Fibromyalgia ( FM) that mysterious and crazy dysfunction of the body and I live with pain and 18 other oddities.  But this story really was educating because what the truth is, all of our truths are, is we must deal with what we have at the moment.  I cannot wait for an episode to subside.  I have them too often.  I am positive my lack of eating, my lack of sleep, my lack of moving because I did not sleep the night before and the night before that and so on...has impacted my loss more severely than I LIKE to think it has.  Truth is sometihng I think I ate and swallowed with bread and butter for too long.

How fitting this group is for me.  I could use this kind of support.  You all speak something that resonates within me as truth.

I started at 402, lost 53 pre surgery, I'm resting at 235, spot on, give or take a fluctuation of 7 or 8 lbs.  I feel awesome. I can move without my feet cracking.  BUT...I'm still fat.  I can imagine how much better my spine would feel minus this extra weight. It's really on me.

Water increasing MORE, I drink it but not enough.   Eating regularly not when I'm hungry but when it's reasonable to know my body should have some food to recharge it.  Thank you for the protein first,  Greens and no whites.  I'm fond of beans and rice and hummus.  I could live on hummus.

Very encouraging.
