Well . . .

Well, ladies, I'll tell ya: I have truly loved being on this board from the moment I found it.  Words cannot express my gratitude for the love, the support, the friendships I found here.  In my humble opinion, OFF is a blessing to those who partake of it, either as active posters or as lurkers.  I cannot imagine my WL journey without this board.

Therefore, I do not understand why some folks are so upset with us.  Perhaps this is because I am not an "old timer".  I truly do not understand what all the fuss is about because I never experienced the old board.  However, if those of you who do remember the "glory days" are so discontent, then don't just tell us about the old days, SHOW us!  Don't just tell us how great the board used to be; resurrect it for us!  Get back on here and post the types of threads you say we need.  Participate, for pity's sake!

I don't know why some of these WL specific threads you all talk about have fallen by the wayside.  I guess they simply do not resonate with the members anymore.  Needs change; people change.  This forum is a living, breathing organism, and all organisms grow and change as they age.  This is a GOOD thing.  None of us would hang around if our board grew stagnant and boring.  If you find the daily "what's up" thread is boring you, post a new topic.  Lead us in a new direction.  But don't scold us for losing our way.

I sincerely doubt that anyone here would willfully ignore any genuine attempt to disseminate vital information to our members.  We are all interested in long term success and will take all the help we can get as we go along.  As to why some threads such as "what are you eating today" have failed to catch hold again, I cannot say.  Either the post hasn't been given a long enough trial, or it's simply not relevant to the current membership and needs to be recast in a new way, perhaps.  Either way, it is not a slap in the face to the poster.  It just means that at the current time, that particular topic is not one that the majority of our people need.

In an effort to mend fences, I would like to offer  my sincere apologies to everyone for any of my remarks that may have offended or hurt feelings.  That was never my intent.  I care deeply about the continued life and success of each and every one of you.  But neither do I enjoy being talked down to or lectured to, and I abhor bullying.  This forum is not the purview of any one individual or even group of individuals.  It is not right to proselytize or browbeat others into agreeing with your particular viewpoint.  The tone and content of this forum reflects the needs and wants of its membership.  As those needs change, so will the forum.  This is as it should be.

If the current needs of some members are not being met, then by all means, it is time to address that issue and expand our topics of conversation.  But we are all equals here, no matter if we are old, new, conservative, liberal, religious, agnostic or atheist.  This forum needs to be a place of peace and refuge where all members are accepted and valued for whatever contributions they may choose to make.  Again, I apologize if my remarks stepped over those bounds.

As always, I love you all!

Who are you apologizing to?

To the entire membership, like I said.

I didn't realize you insulted everyone.  Most of your post that were so negative were directed at me or about me. I may be wrong, but if I'm an ass to someone, I apologize to that person instead of making a blanket apology to those I haven't offended.

Vickie:  I tried to send you a message from my message box on OFF and couldn't.

I echo what Connie said.

Cindy,  Check your account.  I sent you a friend request.  After you accept it, we can PM each other via OFF.

Vickie:  I don't know WHAT I did.  I saw your request yesterday and I thought I accepted it.  When I click "new message", I see your name as one of the possible respondents and I can put a check mark next to your name but when I try to type in the message field, nothing happens and that whole message box is grey'd out.  I'm not too computer savvy.  Does anything pop out at you (as far as what I need to do now)?

I wonder if it is because your profile is set to private.  Or am I wrong and it is set to friends only?
