Not For the Faint at Heart: Calling Old Timers--Your Help is Needed!!!
I think OFF is still glorious.
I don't see the faults you're describing, or have a clue what we're supposedly lacking.
My 2 cents: If you want to make this a better forum, start making it better by posting things you think are missing. Don't just show up once in a while and then whine about the good old days. If you see something broken, fix it.

Patricia,
I think that constructive criticism is meant to be helpful and not offend and it seems as if I may have offended you. And, I and others have come back and started threads that we aimed toward more weight loss threads but only the old timers participated. We had many people view our posts but only Connie, Judy, Karen C. and a few others actually posted. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if we post things about weight loss such as what we are eating and helpful hints or how we are exercising and hot to increase one's tolerance, or types of food to avoid, or healthy tips and recipes and only the old timers post, then the newer members either don't like the old folks coming back or they don't want to work on weight loss issues. I and others have tried to change the board to a more WLS centric board but over weeks of trying, we finally move on. However, a few of us have been talking and we have decided that we might give it a try.
BTW, I am not whining and I do resent your attitude of saying that I am whining. I am simply trying to make this a better place for those of us who want to contribute or need to find help. The idea that the board is broken is not my intent...those are your words.
Perhaps a good word for some is over bearing; hateful; spiteful; uninviting, etc. But, hey, I don't mean you.
Second, I have replied on the threads you started, but because you don't know me, you didn't mention my name in your list of those who do.
Third, I always offer advice to anyone who's new, or struggling.
Fourth, I saw your criticism as whining because you were complaining about a perceived problem that newer people don't see. And as I said, if you feel something is missing, add it.

Every once in a while we get some new person joining and needing WLS advise as it applies to those special needs of us over 50. I try to help as much as I can but, I was a band "loser" and have since revised to sleeve. I am back to loser mode and had been doing well. Since I went off to do the fair for two weeks I am steadily gaining and don't understand why, I'm journaling and getting protein and fluid. I worked my butt off but the weight is inching up every day. Any advise for me?
I was here in '08 and really enjoyed all the poster. There were some very interesting MEN here back than.
The main advice I have for regain is what I need to do once I recuperate. Increase protein, water, and for me, fiber. Decrease carbs, like bread, cereal, etc, unless it had 3 or more grams of protein. Increase movement. If you already have a good exercise program, change things up a bit. If you walk, walk longer. Pick up the speed. That's my main exercise.
Hope it helps.

the site has changed. I had rny back in 2000. I remember all the things you talk about. I remember I was one of the people that processed pictures to put them on before and after. I really think back then it didn't feel like their was any separation of the surgeries. People were not trying to make everyone believe their surgery was the best and everyone just wantedto help. We were all in the same boat. We took what we could use and discarded the rest. Ahh the good old days. But this site has been very useful since I returned recently but it still is not the old site.
