Thankyou...I am doing all that you have mentioned already and then some....I am not getting angry at the medical staff at all either...I do that in the privacy of my own home...haha I know better than to do that in front of them because like you said it gets you nowhere!!! All I have to do is move my arm wrong and this pain is so intense I about fall to the ground in tears!!!! So maybe Wednesday when I am at this ortho dr I might have to move arm wrong to prove what I mean. Also the pain is NOT in the "joint" its more between the shoulder and the elbow area. Weird huh?

Sounds like tendonitis, which can still come from the joint being inflamed.   Like others have said, the best thing for inflammation is NSAI.  I am one of those WLS pts that cannot take any anti-inflammatories so they go straight to the steroid and double up on my prilosec.   Even if it is tendonitis, they can still inject the tendon and clear it up.  I would still immobilize it until after you see the ortho guy.   If you don't have a sling, use an old pillowcase.   When I tore my rotator cuff, for about two months, I kept my left arm in a homemade sling because the one the doc gave me was too big.   I kept hand towels on either side of my lower arm inside of the sling portion so that my arm did not roll.  for about a week, I used an ace wrap to hold the towels in place next to my arm and then gently put the sucker in the sling.   I was able to clear the inflammation up enough to stall surgery for another few months.   I still sling it when the pain starts to get to me.  And, you could have a compressed nerve in your neck and it could have that nerve down your arm inflamed, hence the upper arm pain.   The ortho doctor will help and if not, he should send you to a neuro surgeon to get his or her opionion.

Judy,

I'm so sorry you're in such pain! I have arthritis in my back. I take 5 10mg of Vicodin a day just to keep moving. I hope they can get this under control for you soon. Big hugs and prayers,

Debbie
