It's FRIDAY! HaPpY DaNcE!

Good morning sistas!

Up early this morning.  Butch's jet lag is catching.  Actually woke up around 5:30 a.m. and I could tell he was awake on his side of the bed, just lying there waiting until it was time to get up.  So I scooted over and we rubbed each other's shoulders and his knee, etc.--you know, all the sore spots.  Then I laughed and said, "30 years ago we would have been rubbing something else!"  He laughed, too, and said, "Yeah, but we're still rubbin'!"  Gotta love that man!

Don't know what's on tap for today.  Butch got the new dryer installed yesterday, so I'm sure I'll be doing laundry all day.  Other than that, the day's wide open.

Finished the baby blanket for our new grand-nephew, so that's good.  Butch has to go back to Nacogdoches in a couple of weeks for a doctor's appt, so he can take it with him then and save me the cost/hassle of mailing it.  I think the baby is due in late Sept or early Oct.  I can't quite remember.

Benny starts pre-school on Monday and I can't wait!  All that free time just shimmers like a mirage in front of me.  Can it possibly be real???

Well, it's time for coffee on the front deck.  My favorite part of the day.  Love you all!

Vickie and OFF-

I am so excited for you about Benny's starting pre-school on Monday.  Sorry you and Butch had to buy a new dryer but happy he's got it installed.  I'm waiting for my washer/dryer to die on me and have the bucks reserved for a replacement.

Well, as you commented on Facebook I would love to send the 2 inches of rain we had last night to you in Texas.  I guess it's only fitting that the last time I'm responsible for road grading and gravelling Mother Nature should dump rain on the road!  One of the reasons I'm resigning from this volunteer responsibility is always worrying about rain affects on the road.  We've had a horribly rainy summer and some of the pot holes on the road are big enough to lose a tire in.  As the grading guy says, you can't know when Mother Nature is going to dump a 100 year rainfall on you.  I'm sure that I will be blamed by some of my spiteful neighbors but that's okay cuz they're going to have to find someone else to blame next year.

Got my quilting stash out the other day.  Have three baby quilts to make for baby's that have already arrived.  Unfortunately not the right color combinations in the stash so I'll be going to town tomorrow to see about some fabric.  2 little boys and one little girl.  Little girls room is done in yellow and grey, so I'm thinking something with yellow and pinks and maybe a touch of grey.  One little boy's room is done in alligators.  I found some flannel with gators to use as the backing.  His family is big in rice farming so I'm think the John Deere fabrics for the top of the quilt.  The last little boy is in a navy blue room decorated with jungle murals on the wall.  I did find a piece of jungle print in my stash that has really vibrant colors, so I just need to get some contrasting fabrics and a flannel backing.  I like to back all my baby quilts in flannel so they have a soft and fuzzy side to their blankie.  I love flannel myself so that's probably why I do that.

So not only did Mother Nature dump the rain last night but a cool front moved through.   For the next week or so we're only going to have highs in the upper 70's and lows in the upper 40's.  I haven't stopped using flannel sheets on my bed at all this summer.  Guess that's a sign that it's cooler this summer as well as wet.  I hate to put that in this message knowing how you're suffering with no rain and hot hot weather in Texas.

Well that's about all.  Can't avoid it any longer, have to get on the elliptical and exercise.

Positive thoughts to all in need, especially Nancy and her granddaughter Morgan.

Hi Cindi!  Those baby quilts sound wonderful.  Have you ever used minky dots as a backing for your baby quilts.  I made Benny a baby quilt and backed it with the minky dots and it is so soft.  He loves it.

I wish you would post some pics of your quilts.  I would love to see them.

Girl, I can't even IMAGINE using flannel sheets!  LOL!  Hit 100• F again today.  Day 31 of triple digits here.  Ugh.

Glad you're resigning from road duty.  3 years is enough.

Good morning Vickie, Cindi and everyone still to come

Happy Dance indeed...! Final coat of paint went up on my kitchen ceiling and today I get rid of fine dust everywhere and put things and furniture back into kitchen and breakfast nook. It took almost 2 months to get fixed.

Getting colder overnight, wonder since August was so much cooler than hot July, whether we will soon see some leaves start turning as it seems like an early fall coming with these colder mornings...I always say the "sick" trees are the first to turn color...but they are good predictors of Fall.

Seems someone at the Women's Breast Health Center (euphemism for breast cancer centre) at the hospital not satisfied with failed biopsy, so have been called in again for another set of mammos, will be fourth series since June 21. Glad someone is calling the shots over there because I had been told my next mammo would only be in January next year which had me worried I was going to fall between the cracks. Not that I am super serene about this, but here I go again on 4 Sept. Saw my GP and she had not yet received the report on the failed biopsy from the hospital so I was the one to tell her...she did her best to reassure me, but now wonder if she knows I've been called in early for another mammo.

Everyone have a good week-end, Judy hang in there until Monday...

Here's wishing us all a better day!

So here it is bedtime again (ha! that means 8 p.m. these days!) and I popped back on to see how everyone's day went.  Seems like by the time we finish supper and I get the dishes done, I'm absolutely wiped out.  I just have to go to bed.

Today I ordered some yarn from JoAnn's Fabrics.  They are having a 40% off sale with free shipping for this one day only.  (Sorry, this is such late notice!)  Anyway, I've decided to make some "texting gloves" for my daughters and some of their friends for Christmas.   So many young folks just live to carry their phones around with them.  Texting gloves are really just fingerless gloves that keep your hands warm and leave your fingers free--to text, of course!  Anyway, I did really well.  I can make 8 (or possibly 9) pairs of texting gloves and it only cost me $30.  Eight gifts for $30 is a bargain no matter how you slice it.

I have a math question for y'all.  Can someone please explain how twice the number of dogs in the house can make 3 times the amount of fur???  Carrie's dogs were here over the weekend and I'm STILL cleaning fur up off the floors.  Drives me bats.  Thank God for my Roomba.

Well, I'm off to bed.  I love you all!

Checking in to put the thread to bed.  Bill was functioning today with the meds out of his system.  Now I can't keep him not picking up more than ten pounds.  Bought 3 22 pounds bags of cat food and had them in the cart and paid for.  Sent Bill towards the car thought it would take him long enough that I could pop into restroom.  Was heading to the car and there he was putting them in the car and didn't stop when I yelled, MEN.  He also was carrying buckets of water to the goats.  One gallon is his weight limit and he was carrying 2 gal buckets.

Got a call today for his pre-op testing for Knee replacement from the hospital.  They made the apointment and transferred me over to pre-admit and found out they changed the surgery date from 9-20 to 9-27 without telling me and I was suppose to be having a Pampered Chef party at the DD's that day.  Wasn't very happy.

Night all!

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
