Happy Wednesday

Hi.  This morning isn't off to a very good start.  Our dog has a chronic, serious illness that manifests itself in prolonged diarrhea and vomiting.  We've had it under control for months now by giving him daily low-dose steroids.  Today, I took him out to go potty and he had full-on explosive, watery diarrhea.  He had his parvo and kennel cough vaccines on the 12th, and since then he's been a little off his game -- appetite decreasing, etc.  Gosh, I hope and pray we're not in for another long episode of out of control symptoms.  I sent the vet an email describing what's been happening and asking what he wants to do going forward.

Yesterday, hubby went to regular neurologist re migraines.  I think the dr. heard how desperate hubby is (FINALLY).  He has ordered an MRI, prescribed a new med that hubby hasn't been on before to try to alleviate pain symptoms, and recommended hubby go for his third round of Botox injections in October even though he's dubious as to whether or not they are going to be effective for hubby.  We talked about the Omega procedure and he told us that it is very expensive (like $10+K) and would not be covered by insurance.  He did say, though, that there is promising research for a device implanted in the brain to stop migraines and that he expects it will be available in a few years (who wants to wait that long for relief?).  Anyway, hubby goes back in a month to review how well the new med is working and also to get MRI results.

We are trying to coordinate a visit from our son to see his Grandma (she has end stage heart failure) so today we are going over to see her to ask her whether she feels up for a visit by the four great grandkids along with our son and his wife.  The great grands are 7, 5, and twins age 2.  She may just be up for a visit by our son and his wife.  It doesn't take very much to exhaust and overwhelm her at this point.

Hope you woke refreshed and ready for the new day.

Hugs and prayers for everyone.

Good Morning Cindy P and OFF-

Cindy, glad the neurologist listened to your husband and decided to try a new medication.  Sometimes it takes a while to break the pain cycle so maybe with the BOTOX, TENS unit and the new meds he will get some relief.  Sorry the puppy is suffering too.  Sound like it's immune system was assaulted by the vacination, maybe an increase in steriods for a day of two will help.

Vickie- Dancing the happy dance with you!  Happy Butch has made it home and you've only got a few more goodbyes to deal with before he retires.

Carla- Glad you made it to Chicago safely and can play Mommy for a while.

Well, I've been up since 6:30, read my emails, checked all the various websites I check in the morning and worked out on my elliptical machine.  Gotta say that I'm feeling a little sore this week between kayaking and doing my exercise routine.

Signed up for WW online the other day.  Just can't seem to get back on track with the weight so it was time for some accountability.  Interesting what recording your food does for you.  Makes you analyze the food.  Didn't realize how much cream in my coffee was adding to my daily intake of calories, etc... So today I'm cutting back.  Waiting to hear from the WL program about some one on one counseling about my emotional eating.  At support group last week several of us remarked that during the first year post surgery it's easy to stay on track because you see the NUT's frequently and the doc but once the first year is over you're on your own.  Downloaded a book to my iPad from Amazon called "Refuse to Regain:12 tough Rules to Maintain the Body You've Earned" by Barbara Berkeley.  Hoping it has some useful tips because I'm tired of going backwards and want to move forward again.

I've been able to paddle for the last three nights.  Achieved one of the goals I set for myself which was to paddle out of the cove to my house.  Actually went beyond!  So proud of myself for sticking to this and not giving up.

Not much else is new here in Maine.  Determined to get into my quilting stash and find the fabrics for three baby quilts that I need to make.  Went to a quilt show over the weekend and got inspiration.  Bought a pattern for an applique panel to give my cousin for Christmas.  Told my kayaking buddy I would cut fabric with her tonight after paddling.  Her husband is down state for the next 6 weeks cutting timber so she has her evenings free.

Well that's about all.  Hope Judy finds out what is wrong with her shoulder soon.  Eileen hope you have a less hectic night at work.  Connie hope you and Nic have a good visit.  Done sipping my protein shake, now it's off the showers and the quilting stash.  Positive vibes to all in need.

Morning All!  I lived thru the two weeks of fair.  We did great showing our Pygmy Goats. We won 2 of the 3 Grand Champion Bucks, 3 of the 3 Grand Champion Does shows.  We also won 3 Master Champ Bucks and 1 Master Champ Doe.  Setting up and tearing down is a pain as we don't have a real fairgrounds so everything is brought in and set up and than torn down for the 1 week event.  Monday we brought the trailer home that I live in for the two weeks.

Yesterday I took Bill to doc's and they want him to have a procedure at least two weeks before his knee replacement. The first they where going to get the ultrasound was the 3 rd and the procedure the 12 th.  So they are working him in for a ultrasound and the procedure TOMORROW.  We had to get blood work yesterday after walking out of a 4 pm appointment.

So much for having a little down time

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

Hurray!  Got my man home safe and sound again!  And he only had to wait about 10 minutes at the airport before I got there.  Whew!

Fixing pulled pork sandwiches for lunch and then naptime!  Will write more tomorrow.

Love you all!

Good morning/afternoon Cindy and everyone.......

Cindy....so sorry your dog is so sick. Poor little guy. I pray they can get that under control soon. I hope they find some relief for your hubby and his migraines....sounds like he suffers something awful!! Prayers for him as well. I hope your son and his family get to see his grandma. Times like these are so precious. God Bless her.

Carla....so glad you are safely in Chicago. Have a great time being a "mommy" again!!

Vickie....I am about ready to do cartwheels...like that can happen....I am so excited that Butch is finally home!!!! Enjoy your time together!! I hope you can get caught up on some much needed rest. Congrats to Carrie.....she is doing wonderful with her weight loss!! She is now at the point where shopping is fun again! I feel bad for Chris....all those long hours of overtime and now a car repair. That is how it usually goes. Just when you think you are ahead something else will come along to spoil it!!

Cindi....Glad you were able to "paddle" the last few days. I know how much you enjoy it. It is good exercise too!! Good for you joining WW. I desperately need to do something...I am so far gone now!! Good Luck!!!

Pine....It sounds like you did well at the fair....Congratulations!! Prayers for your hubby that the testing goes well and that the upcoming knee replacement does too.

Judy....still keeping you in my prayers!! So sorry for all that pain your are dealing with!! I hope the MRI helps in finding out what the problem is.

Eileen...hope you have a nice early weekend. I feel bad that you are still in so much pain. I pray the MRI results of your back come in soon and they can help you with that problem.

Debbie and others...know that I am thinking of you HUGS!

I am having fun with Kyleigh. We are looking forward to Nic getting here tomorrow. One of Kyleigh's Aunts ....her fathers side....is taking her out to dinner tonight. She doesn't see them often.  I know she will have a great time. I plan on doing absolutely nothing while she is gone. No cooking for me tonight....there are plenty of leftovers. I haven't been able to be outside because of the high temps, humidity, and smoke in the air....lots of it coming from out west and Canada. They pollen counts are really high too. It kicks in my asthma and COPD. Thanks goodness for A/C!!

Wishing you all a wonderful day! Prayers for many in need. Still hoping some of the other members will come back...I miss you all!!

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Hi Cindy and my OFF family:

Didn't get up til 11:30 p.m. It's nearly 3 p.m. now. Moving slowly today. Slept OK. Got up once coughing. It's 90 degrees outside. I'm staying inside until I have to go out for my sleep study tonight. They give you two sleeping pills (Sonata) to knock you out. So hopefully I'll actually sleep during the sleep study.

Vickie, glad Butch is home for good this time.

Cindy, sorry your dog is sick.

Don't remember what else is going on ... I know Connie and Cindi posted but don't remember what they said. Cindi is kayaking and doing WL online. I remember that. Connie, don't remember what's going on with you.

I'm just hanging out here ... not doing much. Have a little bit of a headache. I'm sure it has to do with the humidity level. Hot and humid.

Well, not much happening. Waiting to hear about the MRI results. Take care.
