Wednesday Morning in Michigan

Wow!  It's almost noon, and nobody has started the thread.

I just got home from getting and EKG done, as part of my pre-op testing.  Then, I went to Joann's and the grocery store.  I got some fabric to make Isabel a dress.  Then, I picked up the fixings for a Hawaiian Chicken recipe I'm taking to a luau at Colleen's in-laws' on Saturday.

Must scoot.  Cleaning to do.

Hugs,

Trish

Good morning Trish and everyone......

Trish...glad you got your test done.....getting closer to having the surgery...YAY....you will feel so much better!! Are you making the Hawaiian Chicken recipe that has been going around on Facebook?? Going to luau themed parties are always so much fun!!

Nothing new to report here. Same old same old! I am happy to say I finally have no pain on the left side of my neck. The right side should start feeling better in the next week or so. I can finally see a light at the end of this long tunnel!! I haven't had headaches or back pain since either procedure was done. That tells me this really does work.

My grandson Nic leaves for that Cancer Camp next Monday. He is so excited and I am so excited for him. He loves being a counselor and helping out the younger kids. Hearing him talk about it and listening to the excitement in his voice is just so wonderful. Remember he was going to take me to an Alan Jackson concert at that time.....this is well worth giving that up for. I am so proud of my Nic!!!

Wishing you all a beautiful day!! Prayers for so many of our OFF friends and families.

Love and lot of hugs....connie d

Hi Connie,

I haven't seen a Hawaiian Chicken recipe on Facebook, but I found one on AllRecipes.com that looks yummy.  I'm going to modify it for a large group, and make it in my crock-pot.  It has all sorts of yummy stuff in it.

I'm glad Nic is going to the camp, and can be a counselor/mentor to the younger campers.  That is awesome.  I'd also gladly give up a concert for my grandchild to do something special like Nic is.

Hugs,

Trish

Good Afternoon Trish and OFF-

Trish glad your pre-op testing is going good.  I agree with Connie, you are going to feel so much better.  I knew when I woke up that the offending organ was gone.  I spent one night at my brother's house and then drove myself home the next morning.

Judy glad you're going to doctor about arm.  Hope it's just severe tendonitis that will clear up with some meds (free samples) and physical therapy like the TENs unit.

Connie happy to read that your back is better, headaches are going away and that your neck is improving.  I know how debilitating neck and back pain can be at times.  I used to suffer but since I've gotten into a regular chiropractic routine I have been able to stay essentially pain free or it's down in the noise level hidden.

Well today the sun is shining and the weather is warmer.  Monday I put on flannel pj's to lounge around in and closed all the windows.  Seriously considered putting the heat on to take the chill off.  Yesterday was sunny but cool, today it's much warmer, however, they're predicting the wet stuff again tomorrow.

I did 50 minutes of pedaling on my recumbent elliptical machine.  I'm reading a book about mindful eating while pedaling and also doing 10 minutes of arm exercises at the same time.  Then I went an mowed the lawn.  Since I moved the kayak to my neighbor's down the road I can now mow the front  yard which is mostly moss and lichens.  Finished mowing and installed two new light fixtures on the little cabin.  The old fixtures were a pain to change the bulbs and they were badly corroded so I bought new fixtures at Lowes the last time I was in the big city.

Since they're predicting more of the liquid stuff tomorrow, I am going to go down the road to the neighbors house and do more paddling in my kayak.  Yes, ladies, I finally got into the kayak and paddled on Sunday.  Spent about 40 minutes on the water and didn't capsize.  So proud of myself and thrilled that I was able to accomplish this on my life list of events.  Had I not had the WLS I never would have gotten into that kayak.  While I'm fighting regain, I am very pleased with the increased mobility I have from losing all that weight.  Now more than ever I am motivated to get rid of the regain.

As you can tell, the blue funk seems to be passing.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

So with that, positive thoughts to all of you in pain and ill, hope you feel better soon.

Hello Cindy, Trish, Connie and Judy (not necessarily in that order!) and all my OFF sistas!

Whew.  We are back from swim lessons.  As usual, it is only noon and I am now exhausted.  However, I have to take Benny back into New Braunfels this afternoon, so I put him down for an early nap.  Chris and her friend Andrea want to take their boys to the Outlet Mall for some back-to-school shopping this evening.  Sounds good to me!  I won't have to cook supper or take care of anyone but myself tonight.  I see some movies and cross stitching in my immediate future!

So, I effed up my car this morning.  I ran over a raccoon.  I don't know if it was already dead or if I'm the one who hit it.  I was distracted dealing with Benny in the back seat when I hit something.  I knew I did some damage to the car from the sound, but I didn't stop.  Just went on to swim.  Turns out I ripped off the trim around the right rear tire well.  Crap.  But I looked for it on the way home, and found it (along with the dead raccoon) on the side of the road.  I stopped and picked it up.  It doesn't look too damaged.  Hopefully a body shop can just put it back on for me.

I got the sweetest letter from Butch yesterday.  We write an email everyday, but usually they are just about mundane everyday things.  But yesterday he told me that he missed me and is ready to retire at the end of the year.  I just teared up.  In all our 30+ years together, he has rarely come right out and said "I miss you".  He always tells me he loves me, but I figured he was always secretly glad to get away from all the trauma and drama that goes on around here.  (Lord knows there've been plenty of times I wished I was the one who could get away!  LOL!)  Anyway, the tears, mood swings and hormones continue, although I think they are some better this week.  Cindy, glad your blue funk is lifting.  I wish mine would.

I want to write and address everyone's health concerns, but not sure I can remember them all.  Trish, I'm glad you are getting closer to your surgery date.  You will be much happier after you recover.  Judy, SO glad you are going to the doctor.  Please let us know what he says.  Connie, hurray for less pain and headaches.  You deserve to feel better after all you have gone through with these treatments.  Cindy, you are an exercise fool today!  Good for you!

Well, I need to close.  I've got to get out there and water everything before I take my shower.  It hit 105F yesterday and will come close again today.  Everything is just barely hanging on and my flowers have all but quit blooming in this heat.  But if I can keep them alive, they should have a second blooming season this fall.

Oh, and say a quick prayer, please, for my daughter Carrie who is having her end-of-3rd-year oral exams today.  Once she passes this phase, she will have nothing but research and writing her dissertation left.  She has worked so hard for the past three years!  This should be her last oral exams ever.  Hurray!

Love you all!

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Had some problems getting to sleep last night; went to bed at midnight and woke up gagging. Finally went to sleep again about 2 a.m. and slept til 10. Got woken up at about 8 or so with a strange phone call from Fifth Third Bank about my bank account ... don't have an account with Fifth Third. Odd.

Anyway, no big plans today. Looks like rain today and feels like it too. Back and knees hurt a lot.

Judy, glad you are getting some help for your arm. Also glad they have some financial help for you.

Connie, happy you are feeling better too.

Vickie, so happy Butch is ready to retire. Can't imagine it's easy on his body to make those trips all the time. It will be nice for you to have him home. Take it easy on the raccoons out there.

Well, not much else happening here. I guess I should do something around here. I do plan to make baked ziti today ... I actually browned the Italian sausage, so all I have to do today is assemble it (which is easy ... it's a quick process and then a half-hour in the oven). And it lasts me a long time. I can freeze some of it.

Have a good day.
