Failed Biopsy

Gentle hugs Jennifer. Waiting is frustrating and frightening. Is it possible to get a second opinion? Just a thought. Not all doctors are created equally.

Kisses

Annete, I am being seen/followed at the Women's Breast Health Centre which is part of the multi-campus Ottawa Hospital, and other than moving to another city to another breast health centre, this where you wind up in Ottawa if you need specialist attention at all stages for breast anomalies. If surgery is needed, I could opt to chose my surgeon, but we are not there yet,

Several radiologists and doctors look at you and your mammos so no one person makes all the decisions. Even if I wanted to go straight to surgery, this is not my decision as there is no palpable lump , just a thin line of calcium like a "spoke" on a wheel, which hints at a milk duct which may be nothing or may be something. Unfortunately so close to skin that core biopsy not possible because air aspirated into biopsy canula from the small incision through which canula passes into breast.

I was told this might happen and it did. So now I wait and have another mammo in January....at that time decision will be taken as to next step.

Jennifer,

I'm so sorry the biopsy was not as successful in providing a sufficient sample.  I hope and pray they have enough to give a definitive sample for diagnosing your lump.

I'm putting you on my prayer list.

Hugs,

Trish

Jennifer:  I agree with Annette.  Perhaps it's time for a second opinion.  Certainly couldn't hurt.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Cindy, I just replied to Annette, and explained about the Ottawa Hospital Women's Breast Health Centre which is where you wind up no matter what if you have a breast anomaly. There's nowhere to go unless I move to another city and get seen at another Breast Health Centre to get a second opinion from a different group of specialists.

Its the way our free universal health coverage works in Canada, unlike the USA.
