Failed Biopsy
Underwent my breast biopsy yesterday and they couldn't get a decent sample. Seems my calcium deposit is lengthwise under the skin leading away from nipple, and the canula was aspirating air from the half inch slit incision made in my breast and they only managed half the usual sample. After discussion the doc and technician decided they would send to lab for analysis, but not sure there was enough, and they would give up on trying to get more biopsy samples as mass so close to surface and they would be sucking air through the incision into the needle everytime they tried to get a sample. So they gave up, but I have all the discomfort of having had the biopsy as breast sore and bruised today and am taking it easy.
What happens now: I have to wait six months and get another mammo...if the calcium deposit grows, no more biopsies, I go straight to surgeon and we decide on excision (lumpectomy) or breast ablation, and pathology after the surgery will indicate how serous it was.
So not exactly the outcome I was hoping for with pathology reporting in 2 weeks...I now have to wait another 6 months ! The waiting not knowing is the worst.
Today is a better day for sure, as yesterday morning I was apprehensive about the procedure...
Everyone also have a better day today than yesterday!

In 1992 had 3 round palpable lumps removed no biopsies, direct to surgeon as could feel lumps. One was a lipoma, the other two cysts, of which one just fibro, the other one precancer. That was left breast. This is right breast and different scenario...calcium can be precancerous or already cancerous. Milk duct is the big thing....hoping this isnt but it is long and thin and straight, just as if might be....hence the concern about it although cant feel it as line is thin and not a lump.
