Marvelous, Magnificent Monday in Michigan

Good Morning OFF Sisters,

I appreciate continued prayers for my son-in-law, Trent.  He's still suffering from the kidney stones, and he says it's the worst episode ever.  He's had them before.  Colleen is still burning the candle at both ends.  She tried to have Frankie with her in the service, because she hadn't seen him all day, and poor thing was fussing, so she put him in the nursery.

It's been warm here these pase few days, and I'm sweating most of the day.  Trent was going to install the central air prior to the next heat wave, but got sick right before this one.  So, I'm using fans, and pretty sweaty by noon.  I have laundry to do, but not sure if I should head to the laundromat or Colleen's.  I don't want to be in the way there.

Anywho, I'll be doing laundry today, and possibly getting more fresh strawberries.  I need to find out if they're open today or not.

Prayers and hugs for all in need.

Love,

Trish

Good morning Trish and my OFF sistas!

Trish, I'm so sorry your SIL is still suffering with the kidney stones.  Can't say I know first hand what that feels like, but I've sat with Carrie enough while she's passing one to know what it feels like to be a helpless bystander!  Prayers going up for all.

We had the best time yesterday at Bennie's birthday party.  Lots of pics on FB.  The swim party was a great success.  As Eileen observed, I was exhausted last night, but it was worth it!  Only 3 of my babies are sick now.  Butch has been sick off and on for a week with some kind of cough/congestion crud.  Now Benny and Chris have it, too.  We were up with Benny all night.  Poor thing just couldn't sleep because he couldn't breathe.  Refused to take any medicine, refused to lie down with anyone, refused to let us rub his little chest down with Mentholatum to help him breathe, etc.  You get the idea.

Anyway, we were supposed to take Mom back to Nacogdoches today, but Benny and I are not going.  Chris is going to have to call in sick to work today, too.  So Butch says he feels well enough to make the trip, so he is taking Mom home today.  He'll spend one night in Nac and then drive home tomorrow.  I hate not to go with him, but I can't take this sick baby on a 6 hour car trip today, and then another one tomorrow.  It would just be too much.

And besides, one of the main reasons for making the trip (besides taking Mom home) is to get our 5th wheel hitch so that we can go pick up our new travel trailer on Friday.  We have to have it, and it's in storage in Nac, so Butch has to go.

Carrie got up and left early for Waco this morning.  Sigh.  That's the last time we'll see her this summer until her oral exams are over in August.  She will be starting her 4th year at grad school in September.  Only 2 more to go before we have a doctor (Ph.D.) in the family!  Dr. Poe has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

I am pretty stiff and sore this morning from all the "fun" this weekend, but it was worth it.  I slid down the water slide with Benny several times and I guess that's what made my back hurt.  Oh, to be young again!  Young at heart is not quite the same thing as young in body!

Hoping everyone is doing well today.  I love you all!

Good morning Trish and everyone.......

Trish.....so sorry to hear Trent still hasn't passed the kidney stones. He must be so miserable....sending prayers. Hope you get your AC put in soon.

Vickie...So happy to hear your weekend was so much fun. The party was a hit!! Sorry you have sick family. That is really hard when there is so much to do. Chris is lucky she has you and doesn't have to take care of Benny too. Nothing worse then caring for someone else when you are sick yourself. It sounds like Carrie is doing great with her WLS....congrats to her!! I know you will be missing her now that she had to head back home.

I have 1/2 of my final nerve block done on my back this afternoon.....the other 1/2 next Monday. I don't understand why they do it in two parts. They said it has to be done that way. Then the following Monday they do the final neck block. I am tired of doing this and will be so happy to have it over with!! The temporary ones have helped so much. They final blocks should last a year....yay!! Before the procedure I have physical therapy and pool therapy. I will be worn out!!

Have a great day everyone!!  Prayers for many in need....some special ones as well.

Love and many hugs to all.....connie d

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

We have been having storms all morning, heavy ones, so much so that it has been flooding roads on the east side of town where I live. There is a flood watch out and officials are warning people not to drive on these roads unless absolutely necessary ... well, I have to get to work, so I guess that's necessary. I may have to find a different way to work. Poor Juliette hates storms so much, she came out just for a few minutes to get her morning treats, then went back in the closet.

Not much else happening, just back to work tonight if I can get the oars and the canoe out (LOL).

Connie, the nerve blocks should help you a lot. I know I have felt better after I had mine in the back. I'm looking forward to getting mine done again. Mine lasted about nine months. It really helped a lot.

Well, have a good day.

Evening OFF and Trish-

Trish, sorry about your SIL and the kidney stone.  I've never had them but have several family members who are plaqued with them.  I hope it passes soon.  Sorry you're having to put up with the heat.

Vickie loved the pictures of Benny's party.  Wonderful event that you put together for the young man.  I liked the visors that you made, what a great idea.

Connie, glad you're getting a break at your daughter's house.  Hopefully something will come up soon so you can live alone again.

Got my mother to the airport yesterday.  Today was spent doing laundry and preparing for the last round of guests who arrive on Wednesday.  The situation with my mother is a bit better.  I've set up all of her bills to be automatically paid so she won't have to worry about writing checks.  I have access to all bank accounts so I can move her money around.  The issue about the house she bought for my brother is not resolved.  She told him that she was going to put it on the market.  The grandchild card was played.  I told her if she wants to pay for their college education that's not a problem, have the bills sent to her house, she can pay them.  I simply do not trust that my brother uses the funds to pay for tuition.

Had my annual followup visit.  The PA was nice about the 35 regain that I've had.  My blood work was normal except for ferritin.  But when I told him about the hysterectomy he didn't seem to be concerned about the low ferritin level.  It was not dangerously low.

Tomorrow the summer Mah Jong league starts on the road.  We'll have two tables of ladies, all of us learning the new melds that they reset each year.

Positive thoughts to all of you in need of support.  Hope everyone has a great evening.

Thanks, Cindi!  I forgot to take pictures of the dino dirt cups, which turned out really cute, too.  I like to do party themes.  It's fun for Mimi to have a creative outlet.

I don't even know what ferritin is.  Am I supposed to know that?

I do the same thing with paying Christie's bills.  I pay them directly instead of giving the money to her.  Maybe that's just encouraging her to be dependent on us, but there have been too many times when we've given her money just to see it mysteriously disappear.  You do what you have to do, huh?  Same thing used to happen with Carrie, but she has finally grown up and taken charge of her finances.  PTL for that one!

Hope you are enjoying your cool summer weather in Maine.  It's dreadfully hot here.  But not as hot as it's going to be in July and August.  Just have to keep jumping in the water to cool off!

Take care!
