WLS and Medicare
A caution based on personal experience. Be certain to verify that the surgeon you are choosing for your surgery takes Medicare.
My wife had her RNY when she was 56. Follow ups with her surgeon were no problem. That is, until the day she turned 65.
When she went in for her periodic checkup she was informed that "The doctor does not take Medicare and since your primary coverage is now medicare, you will have to pay for any future visits". Needless to say, since we are retired and the office visits were "pricey", she no longer goes to that doctor.
