TUESDAY, already!?
Hello, everyone:
It’s been quite a while since I have posted. JB and I decided on a spontaneous road trip and left home right after my birthday, March 28th..drove down to Myrtle Beach but it was only 46 F..we stayed a few days then headed further south. My spirits lifting when I saw GREEN grass instead of brown…or white *s*. We went to Key West (86F) then up the GulfCoast to Naples for awhile then to Panama City (94F)…after 18 days, we returned home. I feasted on grilled shrimp, lobster and crab cakes the whole time...I even LOST weight!
I had taken my tablet but struggled because I was still not that familiar with how to use it and had trouble connecting to the internet…getting better at it tho.
When we got back home, Derek told us that a huge lightning storm fried his big flat screen TV, His Bell (TV & internet) satellite unit and his surround-sound system…and OUR phone system. Lucky there was not a fire!
I was thrilled when Derek announced that he is working on his weight….I was very concerned, but, having always been heavy, I was reluctant to nag him about it because I remember all too well, how that made me feel. He went to his doctor, got all checked out, and his brother Danny is supporting him with exercise CDs that Dan uses too….they talk nutrition and exercise. I just told Derek that it is a MINDSET..you can whine and get grouchy because you CANNOT have something, or you can decide to CHOOSE to not have a certain item, for now, until you get where you want to be…..then it is a matter of choosing to watch and maintain. He knows how I struggle too. And since we got home, I continued to fight my regain, eating more focused on protein and water, and I FEEL better.
Then other day, both boys came for dinner….I made tossed salads with light dressing, steamed broccoli, grilled onions and peppers and Derek BBQ’d t-bone steaks…deli****hen we had sugar-free orange jello and light Cool Whip, just enough to say we had dessert. It was perfect. So we are ALL four eating healthy. *s*
After being given a two-week vacation from my Arimidex, I have been put back on it….apparently, after a long stop, re-starting supposedly avoids the restart of the throbbing bone pain…so far, I’m back on it for seven days….the pain is settled but we shall see. Went for my bone density last week. I am very compliant with my meds and supplements so I do not anticipate any bad news.
The last few months have been insane with the summer event I am hosting for my BPW club. Tickets are now printed and selling...we expect 600-900 women to attend. This week, we three, who are running the event, will be interviewed in a series of newspaper articles, explaining what BPW is and what we do and then will advertise our event until the event itself in August.
We now have numerous vendors(all original crafts, art, glass, unique businesses & services, etc), 30 plus educational and interactive workshops, silent auction, all-day live music, door prizes, pole dancing exercise demons, Dunk-a-Hunk, six trendy Food Trucks including a vegan style, traditional perogies & cabbage rolls made by the Polish Society….all supporting local charities and programmes. We are very excited about this event. I even have discounted hotel rooms for those coming from out-of-town. I am busy trying to find “HUNKS” for the dunk tank!
It sure takes a lot of my time and energy but I am managing it....I took this weekend off completely and Monday, I actually slept in! Sleep is till a valuable commodity for me so I cherish every hour *s*
I see my doctor again this week too....so relieved to know that I do not have leukemia but we have to continue to monitor my bloodwork so more vampire bites every month.
Our weather here is very erratic, some days are for t-shirts, some for coats or umbrellas…but my nectarine tree is blooming already and that’s amazing here.JB even mowed the lawns yesterday! Love that smell!
Also, this week, I have yet another birthday lunch with friends…I usually do birthdays for about two weeks after…it’s fun to get together with old (meaning long time) friends. Now that I am sixty five, I was thrilled to get my first “Old Age Pension” cheque…woohoo!! It is "direct deposit" so I cannot even get to HOLD it in my grubby lil paws…lol….but it sure will be a nice bonus each month.
I apologize for not commenting on everyone’s posts..I have seen great news and terrible news when I tried to read and catch up. I love my tablet but it’s not for typing long messages. But please know that I pray for each and everyone of you and your families, as always, I send positive, loving & healing energy to you all when needed. Be strong, savour the moment, let go of negative emotions, avoid the chaos and the drama, and love yourself.
Many blessings,
Nancy B
Hi Nancy and OFF Family,
So good to hear from you. Glad you got to escape the cold weather by traveling to Florida for a little while.
I need to clean up my bedroom today. It's the only room in my house that's a mess. I also need to clean up my checkbook, and pay some bills.
Finally, I need to price lawn mowers. With all the rain we've been getting and the warmer temps, my yard is starting to look overgrown.
Hope you all have a blessed day.
Hugs,
Trish

Good morning OFF family,
I fell off the toilet on Saturday, okay I fainted off the toilet. Made a bloody mess, hurts like the dickens, and now maybe I'll listen to body signals. It's not fair for Tom to have to scoop me off the floor then clean me up too. A shiner. swollen lip and a puffy nose looks terrible on a skinny old woman. Very unladylike too.
I am managing, with a huge struggle, to keep my weight at 110 lbs. If I can't keep it there I will agree to have a feeding tube.
The people at the cancer resource center said my hair probably won't fall out until after the second chemo treatment. I am crocheting hats for myself. We can get free wigs but they look hot and itchy.
We all have struggles but we are strong and will fight!!!
Kisses
Annette
Oh Annette,
I'm so sorry you were injured in the fall you had. I'm praying for you.
Glad you're willing to agree to a feeding tube, if it becomes necessary. Keeping up your weight, and nutrition, is so important.
We definitely are strong, and will fight to get through our struggles and trials. Keep up that positive attitude.
Hugs,
Trish

Annette, stay strong, get in your calories and protein. You need to get in calories while you're fighting the cancer. We need you alive! The Boost shakes aren't that bad ... or try something else ... I like anything with a coffee flavor and have made my own coffee flavored shakes. If you can't eat, get a shake in you at least. Please don't faint on the potty again. I so worry about you!
Wish I could be there to help you and your kitties. Hope they are being some comfort to you.
Hello OFF Family!!
Nancy, your vacation sounds wonderful, glad you had a good time.
Annette, God Bless you! I think making the hats is a great idea! My sister had 4 wigs but only wore them a few times when she went out. She said they were hot and itchy. She ended up wearing a scarf most of the time. The good news is the hair grows back.
Trying not to do much today, been having a lot of pain in my back and hips. Plus I've been fighting a migraine. Krissy's junior prom is this Sat. Her dress is beautiful she looks like a princess.
Have a great day, thoughts and prayers for all,
Debbie
Morning All,
The sound of vacation sounds wonderful but ours isn't until the first week of June and it is with the entire family (7 adults and 5 kids).
It has been a sad time right now. Last June two other teachers and I all retired at the same time. About a month ago I learned that the other gal had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had died. Well yesterday a friend texted me that my other retired buddy had passed. Now this is the strange part for me he had also been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago. She was I think 62 and he was only 60. Now this has me thinking I should get checked out. I just think it is so sad that they both worked all their lives giving to others, rtired to enjoy life an in less than a year both are gone. Just sad.
I guess I will be working 4 days this week and postponing my trip to Dallas until the end of June. At least this was I can be there for my Aunt's 96th Birthday! I have gotte to spend so few birthdays with her so I am always happy when I can manage to get there for the big event.
Better get going I'm waiting for myf riend from college and her sister to come and have a girls day today!! Notsure what we are going to do but I'm sure it will be something artsy craftsy!
Take Care all and Enjoy EveryDay!!
Hugs
Karen

Good morning Nancy and everyone....
Nancy...so nice to see you start the thread today!! Your trip to Florida was just what you needed. So glad you went on the adventure! That must have been quite a storm to knock out all of Derek's things and your phone too. I am glad every one was okay. It is nice that you are all eating healthy together!! Sorry you are back on Arimidex and having pain once again. It sounds like your event is really taking shape. I am sure it will be a fun time for everyone! Hope you find some HUNKS!!
Annette...so sorry to hear about your fall. I am glad Tom was there to help. You would do the same for him if needed! As for the shiner, swollen lips and puffy nose....you would be beautiful anyway!!! You are just so adorable!! The hats sound better then wigs. Scarves work well too. I think wigs would be too hot!! Keep strong and keep fighting my special friend! Your awesome attitude can make a difference!!!!
Karen...so sorry for the loss of your friends. That is really odd how they both had pancreatic cancer. Prayers for their families. Please try to enjoy your "girls day"!!!
Debbie...sorry to hear you are in pain and another migraine as well. Have a great time getting ready for prom on Saturday. It is always so much fun!
I have an appointment this afternoon at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic. My voice keeps getting so weak. It never happens when I am not here. It has to be environmental.
Love and hugs....connie d
