Monday Morning OFF Family
Connie,
I took tons of pictures, and even video on my iPhone, of Franklin eating his cake. It was priceless.

Hey Trish--those 1st birthdays are so precious! Benny literally dove face first into his cake! The pics are terrific and we all laugh when we see them. So glad Franklin's party was so special!
So, I've got my first batch of overnight oats in the frig. I'm trying something pretty standard for this first batch: 1 cup oats, 1 cup milk, some cinnamon and raisins. I mixed it in a lidded jar and stuck it in the frig. But if I like it, I'm going to make banana blueberry oats next. You mix equal parts of oats, greek yogurt and milk, plus a half a mashed banana and some blueberries. Leave overnight and sprinkle with granola or nuts in the morning before you eat it. I've got some stevia to put on it for sweetener. Like everyone else, the sugar monster has me in its nasty claws, and I need to find a way to defeat it! Not a big fan of stevia, but I'm gonna try it again.
Nighty-night!
Re night sweats, am having them too and am wondering if my increased carbs, and wine, foreign gourmet cheeses and fruits are having an effect on my glucose readings, as in bed at night I sweat, yet daytime I can have cold sweats instead of hot sweats ( surgical radical hysterectomy age 51 ages ago) so thought my hypothyroid to blame...not so as my recent bloodwork tests for everything under the sun had me bang on normal for everything....but I still think my glucose levels are to blame. Have regained 40 lbs now since lowest at 8 months post surgery, so May 1st, starting an old fashioned diet technique of protein first, leafy green veggies or cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower) and fresh fruits (sound familiar?)....and no cheeses or vino. (How am I going to survive?)...will post if have any success....if you have no news from me on this site call me out as I will be lurking but too ashamed to post...
Jennifer
Jennifer, I too wonder if the carb monster is to blame. But cheese is protein, correct? I stick with good cheeses but I have battled the carb monster. Last night, I woke up several times sweating and didn't think I had too many carbs (or at least sugar) at night when I got home from work. Finally gave up and got out of bed at 7:30 a.m. I have a doc's appt. on Wednesday.
Don't lurk ... We need to be proactive and not ashamed of our weight gain. We are human and make mistakes. Remember, they fixed our stomachs, not our heads. I'm nine years out and still battling.
