Wee hours of the morning........checking in. Happy 'Tuesday!
Hi Sandra,
Butch is going to PT in Bulverde--about a 20 min drive for us. Of course, he had home health care for the first 2 weeks and the PT came to our home 3xs a week. Today is 4 weeks since his surgery. He was doing really well until one particular PT session last week which hurt him terribly and he really hasn't come back from that one yet. Grrrr. I would like to get in there and give them what for, but so far, I'm staying out of it. I know he needs to pu**** a little each time he goes, but they tried to make him do too much. IMHO, they are professionals and should know better!
Best of luck with your surgery! I hope it goes well for you. I'll be praying for you!
Hi Vickie,
Not sure where my PT will be after the first 2 weeks, but there are many options close by. My oldest daughter will have the burden of taking me most of the time. She gets off from work at 3 pm so hoping that works out with the PT.
Sorry Butch is having a hard time after last weeks' session. But glad to hear he is progressing.
Thanks for the prayers ... I'll gladly take every one I can get!!
Good morning my sweet Maui Karen and everyone.....
Karen....that poor little baby...I think they need to take her to a Chiropractor...they work wonders on crying babies!! So happy you will be going to see your family!!! They miss you and I know how much you miss them!! So glad you found someone to take care of your kitty! Now you will be able to relax and enjoy your vacation!
Money what is that?? I have three grandchildren with birthday's this month!! Kyleigh was 21 yesterday, Amanda will be 19 Thursday, Nic will be 20 on the 23rd. Can you believe Nic will be 20...we are so happy!! Thank you GOD! Lucas will be 15 in July and sweet little Miss Gracie will be 7 in November! I love them all sooooo much!!! I sure do feel OLD!!
I plan on doing a puzzle later. I need to quickly run to the grocery store for fresh fruit and veggies. We have 6" of snow on the way today and up to 12 by Thursday. It will be very cold and blustery.I am so tired of WINTER!!
I will check back in later and chat with others!! Prayers for those in need...some very special requests as well.
Much love and many hugs...connie d
May is my birthday month! Five family members have birthdays in May, and I can't afford to do much, but will figure out something. I will be in Santa Cruz with three of the birthday boys/girls so that will be great.
I am so curious about what chiropractors do with newborns. I have never heard of using them with babies. This little sweetie yesterday just seemed in pain if you just touched her. I felt helpless, and all my singing "Happy Birthday", rocking, walking, whispering and smooching didn't help at all. I will pray for that baby and her mother.
I can't believe that you have SNOW!! The weather reports lately from the mainland just blow my mind. I'm hoping you get sweet spring soon!!
Have a wonderful day, sweetie, and do something nice for yourself.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
Karen...the friends I know that went to the chiropractor with their babies (3) all had wonderful results. The babies were fussy and crying. They found out through other friends. I had read an article about it years ago. I then spoke to my chiropractor about it. It has something to do with needing adjustments because of what they go through in the birth canal and all the pushing that is done. My friends left with no more crying babies.
Maybe you can as a chiropractor or look on the internet.
I went to the store and bought myself a book I have been wanting...just for me!!
More love and hugs...connie d
Happy Day dear Maui Friend. . . and all the OFFr's posting and lurking today!
It's happy I am to see you and read your post and know that you will be visiting your family on the mainland, knowing your kittie will be taken care of and that is nice that your son is paying for the sitter. I hear you about the finances, though where you live I know it is much more expensive than the mainland, it's all relative. . . This year I got a raise, only to be bringing home $120 less per month (thanks to taxes going up) and then I get a letter from my mortgage company that my escrow is in shortfall due to the increase in homeowners and real estate taxes. . . so I dig, dig and think I'm finally going to level out and bam, the dirt gets pushed in quicker than I can dig out. . . then again, I live in the, what I've come to refer to as, the bleed me dry state of New Jersey, if I could sell my home and break even I would do it, but that is not going to happen right now, so I look for the gratitude in that I am employed and each month I pay my bills. During the workweek, I don't spend money, other than on gas and tolls, so I have a little spending money come the weekends and shopping for clothing and such, is a rare thing and a very good reason to be sure not to regain (lol). . . .
Otherwise, it's been a long winter here, not a bad one, but long and finally it appears that Spring/Summer is upon us and I am very happy for that, as ever since WLS, I do feel the cold so much more so than before, though I also think some it is just plain old being an "oldie, but goodie". . .
I am going to Florida next week to spend time visiting my daughters, my two oldest grandchildren and a good friend who moved to Florida last Fall, even the price of a ticket to Florida has gotten so much more expensive, used to be I could visit several times a year, now I have to watch and wait for an opportunity, at least with my daughters and all the many friends I now have living there, I don't have to pay for accommodations ;)
Well that's about all from me. . . I send my best wishes out for all of you, I check in sporadically and even if I don't post, know that I keep you all in my prayers, especially when you are faced with challenges. . .
Hugs, Laureen

Afternoon All!!
I know it's a bit late for me but I have een so busy today! Don't you hate it when you try to get ahold of a doctor and the phone rings busy for like three days??? I just wanted to get in the car and go to the office and scream, "answer your phone!!!" I finally got through today to have them up my med for my restless leg so I can get some sleep, I spend some nights pacing the floor for hours... hate that!
So then I got this list of 13 students K through 5th grades to do achievement testing on. We you call the school to set up a time to come and they tell you they don't have room for you to test for all the other OT, ESL, 504 and other meetings going on. I just wanted to say, "Hey, do you want the kids tested or not???" One school said I could use the custodians room... seriously? Anyway I need to try and get those done in the next couple weeks between tutoring and jury duty. I swear I wasnt this busy when I was working full time!
Need to go finish up the calligraphy piece I have been working on and call the client to come pick it up tomorrow. We meet with the nutritionist for our first visit tomorrow as well. Printed off all my food logs and am ready to go! 8am is going to be early for me. LOL
Hope everyone has a great rest of your day and thoughts and prayers for those in need!
Hugs, Karen
Aloha Maui Karen and my OFF family:
I'm getting on here late today ... I got up early because I had an appointment to get my car serviced; it was the 7,500-mile checkup. Got an oil change, its first, and the tires rotated, plus they checked all the vital organs, so to speak and the fluids. Got a $5 coupon and it cost me $53. Funny, but I had made the appointment online and got there and they didn't have it ... they had to look it up online. The guy said the next time just call it in. Well, gee, why do they have the online appointment thingie if they're not going to use it? Anyway, all was taken care of. I guess they must use that in the larger cities.
Woke up with a headache and have been battling it all day. It's now settled in my left ear. I'm taking it easy and just doing laundry but have to go out later and take Juliette over to my boss' apartment ... he's going to take care of her while I'm gone. I've been taking stuff out to the car a little at a time. Richard has had cats before and loves 'em, so I'm sure she'll be in good hands. And it's free, so I can't complain.
Maui Karen, I have heard of chiros working with babies and small children. My guy in Grand Rapids had a special table just for the kiddies ... a "horsie" table. Not sure what he did with babies, but I know I saw moms bringing infants in there. Haven't seen any with my recent chiro but I'm sure she could do it, too.
I leave for Chicago (well, north of Chicago ... my oldest brother and SIL in Northbrook, IL) tomorrow morning ... can't wait to see my family. Car is gassed up and ready to go. I'm doing laundry and will pack after Juliette is gone. Hope to be on the road by 9 a.m. because I want to get up there before rush hour. Hate Chicago traffic. Got lots of plans ... seeing Mom, my other brother Gary, friends, my niece and grandnephews at their birthday party ... just relaxing and not having to go to work.
Well, that's about it for now. It's 81 degrees here today ... wow, I think spring has made it. That's why I have a headache ... it's going to rain and all the trees are blooming (beautiful, but hard on my sinuses).
Have a good day.
Eileen pack your winter coat and long johns. It has been raining and thundering in the middle of Michigan for two days! 40,degrees to boot! Going to Ft Wayne tomorrow.
