Good morning.  I'm up early.  Didn't sleep well and am wide awake so I thought I'd start the thread this morning.  Nothing much planned for today which is nice for a change.  We've had some kind of appointment every day this week except for today.

Wishing you all a great day.

Good morning, Cindi, and all my OFF sistas!

Well, I am up, Cindi, and have been for a couple of hours, but this is my first chance to get on the computer.  I am gearing up for another 2-3 days of intense travel.  Ugh.  I swear, when I get home again, I'm not going to step foot out of this house for a whole week!

Today I am taking Carrie back to Waco for her follow-up appt with the doctor this afternoon.  My mom is coming with us.  We will spend the night at Carrie's house in Waco, and then tomorrow morning I am taking my mom back to Nacogdoches.  But I will then turn around and drive back to Waco and spend Friday night with Carrie.  Depending on how she is doing, I will either come back home to Hilltop on Saturday or Sunday.  Whew!  I am already dreading it.

Butch will have Benny duty by himself for part of the time I am gone.  I hate it, but I just don't see any other way around it.  Chris has to work on Friday and Saturday, but at least she is off today.

Hope we hear from Cindy B soon and that her operation went okay.  Eileen and Judy, I hear your pain about your moms and wish I could offer some words of wisdom.  I guess that's just a path we all have to travel at one time or another.  We did find a potential place for my mom to live in New Braunfels yesterday, but I don't see us being able to move her until this summer sometime.  Oh well, all I can do is all I can do.  My cup overfloweth right now.

Love you all!

Vickie....wow...you have a lot going on!! I don't envy you at all. I hope Carrie is feeling better each day and Butch too. It is a good thing Butch is home or you would have to take Benny with on your trips. At least you don't have that concern. I am sending prayers for safe travels and good results.

I too hope to hear some news from Cindi B.today about how her surgery went.

Love you...hugs and prayers....connie d

Good morning Cindy and everyone....

Cindy.....nice to see that you started the thread today! Enjoy your day of no appointment!!

I had a painful night last night. I took my pain meds and went to bed at 9:30. I slept really well and feel so much better today. It feels good to wake up with energy!! I might try to go to a movie today. I need to see what is playing. Any suggestions anyone? I got more applications for housing  sent out. Now I wait!! I am going to try to contact a few other agencies yet this week.

There are so many people not posting...I am getting concerned. Carolyn, Annette, Laureen, Debbiejean, Monica, Jeannie, Karen C.,Nancy B., Nan and so many others. I hope to hear from them soon!! I do see some on Facebook but would like to know how they are doing.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Prayers going out to those in need and a few special ones as well.

Much love and many hugs to all...connie d

Good afternoon ALL,

I have discovered the yummiest protein bar. They are called "OH YEAH" ,almond fudge brownie flavor from the Vitamin Shop. A nutritious, tasty, protein bar that I love. The clerk let me sample a variety to see which ones tasted good. These were so good that I bought an entire box of them. Judy and Eileen, you might try those for your Mom's.

When I first had WLS (6 1/2 years ago) I became obsessed with the scale. Every time I walked past the bathroom I HAD to strip naked and weigh myself. Kind of an OCD experience. Finally the scale went in the trash. In December we had to monitor Tom's weight after heart surgery so I bought another scale.Wouldn't ya' know. that stupid scale calls my name. Now I don't strip  mail

Jerry and Baxter are in the bay window howling. Actually, Jerry does the beagle howl and Baxter does the high pitched MinPin scream. It drives me nuts and the cats run and hide. Maybe I'll take them for a quick walk.

Kisses

Annette, I have tried the Oh Yeah! bars, but the wafer ones ... I really like those, but can't seem to find them now. I used to get them from Netrition.com. Don't know what happened to them. They were really good. I tried the other ones too but didn't like them as much as the wafer ones. The wafer ones were really crunchy, and that's what I liked. Mom just doesn't want to eat anything but bread. English muffins, toast, whatever. That's all she wants to eat. At this point, I say let her eat bread. She's 88. As long as she gets some calories in, that's what's important.

Eileen,

People in the support group have brought in their favorite protein bars and drinks to share with the group. It is always amazing how we never all like the same flavors.

I'm supposed to be getting in at least 2,000 calories a day to gain and stop losing but want them to be nutritious calories.

If I were 88 years old ... I'd want only what appealed to me, not what somebody else decided I should eat. You are wise not to fight a battle you won't win. Just love her as long as you can and let her eat bread.

Eileen,

Sorry to hear your mom is still not doing good, you are right though. Right now, just let her eat what ever she wants or what her system will tolerate. I used to see this a lot when working with the elderly, I went through it with Jon's dad, my grandparents and my dad as well. She is probably losing her taste buds at this point, and they won't return Like you said, better she eats something even it is not always the correct thing.
