I AM HOME...

Boy what a trip back home to be with my mom!!! WOW!!! Dr said he had NEVER seen what she had in all his years of being a dr!! Her hernia and her stomach did a 180* flip which caused her to be so sick and need surgery!! But they had to get her strength up first so they had to feed her by IV for a couple days before surgery. Thank GOD the dr could do it laproscopic!! He said if he would have had to cut her open he believes it would have killed her. They took almost 3 hours to do this surgery and then it took her long time to come out of the anesthetic. They put her in ICU for a day and a half just to keep close watch on her. She is now in a normal room and doing much better. She is still on oxygen and has a feeding tube "just incase" she needs it dr said. So far she has gone from pure liquid foods to soft foods. So she is doing pretty good now. Tonight she can try more firm foods if she wants. She will be going to a rehab to get her strength back and work on her breathing again. One thing is I sure didn't want to leave her yet but I had no choice. She is doing ok and funds were getting very low!!!! And work is calling me back....not really but its piling up...I am so tired...could not sleep much while there at all!!! Hopefully I can now that I am home.

So she had a hernia? Wow! It must have been a strangulated hernia. They can kill you. Glad she was able to survive that. Yeah, the docs don't like to operate on the old folks, which is why my mom didn't have surgery on her elbow and why it still isn't good. Glad your mom is on the mend. We've all been thinking about you and your mom.

Yes I think that is what it could have been, dr never said that it was that but it was VERY serious!!! Never ever have I seen my mom look so bad!!!

I am too!!! I was sick with worry and after seeing her even more so!!! Glad I went and got to FINALLY find out exactly what was going on!!!! She is doing much better and hopefully going home soon.

Aloha Judy.....I have been following your story, and feel relieved for you that your mom's surgery is over and that she is on the mend. Your life is so full and I don't know how you handle it all, and still keep a sense of humor.

Aloha Karen!!! Me have a sense of humor right now??? HAHAHA surely you jest!!! I am ready to explode!!! I feel as if I am wound waaaaaaaaaay to tight and if I don't get some rest soon I will go off!!!! Did I mention what my son did to me the other night?? He was tlking to me on the phone and little did I know that he was right behind me in the parking lot of the motel where I was walking Bandit and he blew his truck horn which sounds like a TRAIN coming at you!!!!!!! I about jumped 5 feet in the air!!!!!!! Never heard him at all because of the traffic on the street!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! Talk about stress relief...hahahaha!!!

Mom should be settled soon in her rehab room...not sure yet if she has a phone yet or not. Will be finding out soon though. This will kill me if she does not have one!!!
