Happy Thursday, March 28!!
Good Morning! I'm one of those people who lurk but rarely post. No one has started the daily thread yet -- so I thought I'd come out of hiding.
Hope that everyone is doing well today. What are you up to?
It's early on the West Coast and I'm up and wide awake. Slept poorly too. Just one of those nights.
Nothing much on my agenda for this Thursday. I enjoy those days when I have nothing I HAVE to do. Usually, our calendar is full of one appointment or another or a trip to the valley to go to doctors over there or make a trip to Costco or Home Depot. I'm glad we don't have to go there for the next couple of weeks because traffic has been congested due to Oregon's spring break (this week) and it will be congested next week due to Washington's spring break. I try not to complain too much about it because all the visitors are good for our local economy.
I'm struggling to get the carb demon under control. I remember back when the only carbs I indulged in were the good carbs (vegetables and fruit, etc.). Somewhere along the line I let the sugar monster in. I think I thought I'd test the waters and see if sugar would make me dump (it doesn't). Wish I could go back to the point in time and NOT put that first bite of a sugary something in my mouth.
Wishing you all a good day.

Good Morning Cindy and OFF Friends,
It's 8:30 here in Michigan. We're in the Eastern Time Zone. I've been up for three hours now. My daughter was supposed to bring the boys over this morning, but she just texted me that Isabel is sick, so she's keeping her home.
Speaking of Isabel, my church's Children's Ministry has a kids' program for age three to third grade. Last night, they had a Pinewood Derby race. Isabel's car won First Place for Design in her age group. She did a great job decorating it, given her age. She was a real trooper, because her car was eliminated in the second heat of the race, and I could see her disappointment while the other kids raced their cars. I'm so proud of her.
My appointment at the pain specialist's office, yesterday, went well. I will be getting a Cortisone shot as soon as I get through some red tape beecause I'm on Coumadin.
Must run.
Hugs,
Trish

Good Morning Ladies!
What a beautiful day here, the sun is shining for a change and they say we will hit 50 today! YEAH!
Couple of quick errands this morning then tutoring this afternoon, ah the joys of telling time and counting change!
Trying to curb the snacking urge in the afternoons, which if I stay busy isn't much of a problem, however, given a lazy afternoon it seems that is all I want to do. I want to get this under control ASAP because I don't want to fight it after surgery.
Thanks to Vickie my ham is out of the freezer and almost ready to be baked for sunday dinner. Not sure what else I'm having but I'm sure it won't be my usual "cooking for an army" meal. Looking for a good protein powder to buy in bulk, any suggestions?
Well girls, take care ad have a great day!
Karen
I like AnyWhey protein powder. It's flavorless, and when you use it in protein shakes it really boosts your protein level. It comes in two sizees, of pretty large containers. I buy it at my WLS hospital. You can probably find it online.
There is also a protein drink that is a clear liquid. It's called Isopure. It comes in a variety of flavors. I like the Grape Frost, which reminds me of grape KoolAid. They are sugar free, and have 40 grams of protein per bottle. I found it online, and bought it by the case. I've also gotten it at GNC.

Oooo Trish, sounds good! I think I tried the Isopure a long time ago but I have heard it has improved so I will give it another try. Been to GNC and to tell you the truth it all looks the same to me. I think just a whey powder might be just what we need to be able to mix with most anything. Thanks for the info!
Karen
Morning all!
Cindi, congrats on the new grand baby...bet you can't wait to hold him/her!
Trish, glad to hear your getting help with your pain. I know how horrible it is to go through everyday with pain.
Cindy, it's so nice to see new post, your welcome to join us anytime. Good luck with the carbs and sugar. I'm only 7 months out and I'm already struggling. I can eat some sugar but I do have a tipping point, carbs I can also eat just not very much.
Karen, your a great motivator for me, afternoon till bedtime is my snacking nightmare. I also need to get it under control. I feel I will be fighting this my whole life.
Hope I haven't missed anyone. Hope you all have a great day, thoughts and prayers for all,
Debbie
Oh Debbie we must be connected at the "snack"! LOL
Like today I have been busy all day, errands, cleaning, tutoring and now is my down time. I have had to fight to keep my blood sugar over 60 all day and as far as I'm concerned wasted a lot of calories trying to keep it up with sugary things. It's just not fair!
I am hoping I can get things under control before surgery.
Karen
Hi Vickie,
Just read your post. I hope Carrie's surgery went okay. I'm praying she's now recuperating, and that her recovery goes smoothly. Keep us posted.
Hugs,
Trish
