Aloha my friends from your pop in sister. I do apologize for not posting more often, but I do read every day and follow your happenings closely.

It's 2:00 in the morning here in Hawaii so I figured I might be the first to share, and I guess I am. It's dark, quiet, and all I can hear is the ocean surging outside. I have come to not even notice it. Some of our visitors say that can't sleep because of the ROAR of the ocean. I guess we get used to almost anything eventually. I remember when I first moved to Maui 12 years ago that I frequently put my head in the freezer because it was so hot!! Now I'm used to the warm and don't even turn on my air conditioner anymore. No one has a furnace in their homes except upcountry where it can get cold.

My two kitties, Poki and Nicki, are at my feet. They can't figure out why I'm up in the middle of the night...ha. I am having a real problem with one of them, Nicki. He is getting old and now sometimes poops outside the litter box. I am used to cleaning up after him, but my kids in Santa Cruz want me to come for a visit in May, and I just can't have a friend/relative come and stay with the kitties when he's doing this random pooping!! My kids will be mad at me if I don't come because of a cat, but I just don't think I can leave him right now. Ah, small potatoes in the scheme of life, but it's my biggest worry right now.

I think I'll crawl back into bed, and I will just end with a big hug for all of you, and a prayer that all of us have a good Tuesday. You are all amazing!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good morning Karen and Jo and all my OFF sistas!

Isn't the internet wonderful?  How else could all of us have connected and become friends?  Geographically we are thousands of miles apart, but emotionally we are sistas!

Very glad to wake up in my own bed this morning.  Mom and I made the trip back here to Hilltop with no problems, only a few delays like road construction and trains!  Plus extra potty stops.  But it was okay.

Today we go back to the doctor for Butch's first follow-up visit since surgery.  He sure is looking forward to having the staples come out today!  PT did a real number on him yesterday and he had to have pain pills again last night.  But he can do all the exercises the PT gives him, and that's wonderful.

It dropped below freezing here last night.  Grrrr!  I hope my little flowers weathered the cold snap!  If not, I'll be buying more.  However this was the last night of cold, and we're headed backup into the 80's for Easter weekend.  Hurray!  I like the warm weather way better than the cold.

Karen, I don't think I've ever heard the story of how you came to be in Hawaii.  I wish you would tell it for the benefit of us newbies to the board.

Jo, I am always so proud of you and all you do to help others in your community.  I hope the spring weather arrives soon for you!

Not much else going on around here today.  Just enjoying having my mom with us.  Judy, I am praying for you and your mom.  I hope we hear from you today.  Cindi, I am praying for you also.  Enjoy this weekend before your surgery next week.

Love you all!

Aloha Vickie.......How nice that you have your mother with you for awhile. Both of my parents have passed, and there are times when I'd really like to talk to them.

I fell in love with Hawaii when my first husband took me to Maui for our 9th anniversary. He was an airline pilot and got us passes and then wouldn't tell me where we were going until we got to the airport....just told me to pack for a warm place. It was magical seeing Diamond Head from our hotel room and that blue/green ocean. After that I came to Hawaii almost every year. Maui was my favorite island. When my husband and I separated years later I was working at a mental health clinic, and they were moving to California, so I decided to buy a little place over here and was able to. I rented it out for several years and then came here to live in 2001. Both of my sons were unmarried at the time so I wasn't leaving any grands. Now, 12 years later I have three little grandsons!!

Thank you for your frequent shares....I feel like I am getting to know you better all the time,

Aloha nui loa,

HI all!

Karen my friend has 3 cats, and they were not going in the boxes either.  She had the kind of boxes with covers on them.  She removed the covers and Wala the random poopiing stopped.  Before you cancel going to your families, I would talk to my vet and see if they have any suggestions.  Any chance the cat has a UTI??  Just a few suggestions!

Take care  Mary Kay

Thanks for the kitty support! My little ones have an open litter box, and it's only one of them who doesn't use it. I will probably have to take him to the vet or at least call one or find one online. Hate to miss seeing my family, but it just doesn't feel right to ask anyone to take care of Nicki and Poki when he's pooping all over the house. Sigh.

Aloha,

Good morning Karen and everyone....

Karen....I love your stories of Maui. That is my absolute favorite  place in all the world!! I would so much rather hear the roar of the ocean then the roar of howling winds and snow flying everywhere!!!  Love you my friend!!

Vickie...glad you made it home safely. I am happy you will have time to  spend with your mom!!! Praying Butch's pain goes away soon.

I can't remember who else posted...so sorry...I love you all!!

I am busy today packing to spend time at my daughter, Carrie's. I can't wait to leave!! I have a appointment with my pulmonary doctor at 1:30 PM. I will leave here about 6:30 PM to pick Kyleigh up in Minneapolis. We should arrive at my daughter's about 8:00 PM. I don't want go earlier because I would hit Minneapolis rush hour traffic. No one wants to drive in that mess between 3:00 and 7:00 PM if we can help it!!

Wishing you all a great day!! Prayers always for those in need...some special prayers as well. I am really concerned as I have not heard from Judy. I pray we get some answers today!!

Love and many hugs to all...connie d

Aloha beautiful Connie!!

Maui is my favorite place in the world too, and sometimes I forget to be grateful to be living here. Thanks for the reminder.

I am so glad that you are getting a break to see your daughter. I always wished I had a daughter. I love my sons and grandsons, but I sure would have like to experience loving a little girl.

Since you love Maui, I wish I could cyber send you a photo of what is happening out in our bay right now. There is a mother humpback with TWO babies, and she is trying to teach them to breach. Many are out there with cameras on tripods and even the news. What a gift!

Aloha nui loa,

Aloha to you my Hawaiian Friend. . .

I generally pop in once in a while to read and I don't feel I have much to contribute to the party, my life has a sameness that does not change overall and a busy ness of the those same things that make up my living plan. . .  I am living life and that is just a byproduct of having had my surgery, as well as that other aspect of my life, my recovery, for which just this past weekend I attended a conference that was phenomenal, each speaker was better than the next, and I even had a small part of it early Saturday a.m., speaking on spirituality, which I always think of as a tough topic for anyone to relate their experience with, but with a prayer and by sharing my experience, I got through it.

I hear you on the kitties, of course, mine is not a kittie, but I've had to make decisions that my son did not approve of, the main one being that I got her, after I was warned that I'd not see my grandchildren visiting my home if I got another Rottweiler. . . well, I made my choice based on what makes me happy, because at a certain point in life it does come to that, making ourselves happy and the hole in my heart that was left by Dillinger made it abundantly clear that I needed to give my love and home to another.  So while I love my grandchildren, my son and his wife never beat a path to my door prior and so therefore I chose a dog that has brought so much love and joy into mine and everyone's life that she comes in contact with;  so I get it about wanting to be there in case of something because before I got Roxie there was Dillinger and when he got sick, I made lots of of decisions to be home so when the eventuality came. . .  I learned through my companion animals that the unconditional love they give is worth some of the small sacrifices I've had to make from time to time. . .

I send loving thoughts your way and wish everyone else a Happy Passover or Easter and a joyful day!

Laureen

Aloha sweet friend Laureen.......Thank you for sharing your animal story. Made me feel better. I know my son is saying to himself that I must love my animals more than my grandchildren, but he just doesn't get it that our animal family can become our unconditional love family.

Interestingly I just got a note from a family member in Oregon who says he would be happy to come and kitty/housesit in May!! He has worked with animals with issues and says it's no problem to him. I think I'm supposed to go to Santa Cruz in May. Sometimes what I think should happen isn't right.....ya know?? Someone bigger than me is taking care of me.

Sending hugs...

Aloha
