VERY LITTLE NEWS
Mom was transfered to other side of hospital a little while ago...going to do more testing first thing tomorrow morning. Upper GI my brother thinks it is. I called mom this afternoon about lunch time and tried talking to her but she sounded terrible. I asked her again if she wanted me there...NO she said. She wasn't making much sense to me at all. So waited for my "family" to call me with news of what is going on...nothing. So I tried calling the nurse and they told me they transfered her to other side. I called the number they gave me for that nurses station. OK they were still getting her settled. Sorry didn't know they were still moving her in. No problem they would call me back when they get her settled in. OK. That was about 45 minutes ago. Meantime I talked to my brother told him I was coming IF this ****ty snow stops tomorrow morning so I could drive safe in it!!! Some parts of Ohio are under a winter storm warning I guess. Great!!!!! If I go alone I can either stay at my moms or my sisters. If Rick goes we stay at the motel because of Bandit. Moms neighborhood is not safe to go out at night with him and my sister has a dog that hates each other. Soooooooo. Not sure yet what will happen but I AM going!!!!
Will post more when I know more...thanks for the thoughts and prayers means so much to me and family!!!
HUGSSSSSS
Safe driving...I understand your concern, as I lived 2.5 hours away from my Dad ( deceased May 23, 2000) and regularly put over 1500 miles a month on my car to drive to him every little problem, including major problem keeping hiim 4 weeks and more in hospital every year of his last 6 years of life. I totally understand your concern, and wish you lots of energy as you will need it! You have my prayers, and so does your Mom!

May today be a better day than yesterday!
Judy, ask if they've checked if she has a UTI ... that can be the cause of a lot of problems with elderly folks being incoherent. A lot of nurses don't even think to do that ... a good one will. Push them on it (my friend Roxane the nurse says it's one of the first things she does with older folks ... gets urine to check for UTIs ... she works in the ICU).
Drive safely and try not to worry so much. There's not much you can do. I know you want to be there, but if you get in an accident, you can't help your mom. And really, you can't help her at all anyway ... you just want to be there to help yourself. Because you want to know you've had a chance to say goodbye if this is it (I know that's how I feel about my mom, and in 1984, about my dad when I was in Montana and came home just in time).
We are all with you in spirit.
Judy you know many times parents say dont come to far away kids because they know we are busy and they dont want to bother us even when they really do want us to be there. My mom was like that. Follow your heart. Just make sure to use your head while driving though!! Prayers going up as you drive up Be safe.
Thanks everyone!!! I am STILL waiting to hear back from the nurse!!!!!!! But I guess no news is good news but still I would have liked to KNOW what is going on!!!!!!! Rick is going to drive me tomorrow and we will be home sunday unless mom is worse. I made rsvp at motel already. Only my brother knows we are coming home and my son David. So we will be ok driving now. Rick said he will drive so I won't get into an accident...:-) he loves me and will take good care of me.
Thanks for all the prayers and concern. Will let you know soon as we get home how things are.
Love you all!!!

Judy,
I hope you have a safe trip. I totally understand your concern, and don't blame you at all for wanting to be there. I'm glad Rick is driving you, because I wouldn't want you driving under these cir****tances.
Praying for a safe trip fo you and Rick, as well as prayers for your Mom's recuperation.
Hugs and love,
Trish
