Good morning everyone.

Still having some problems with the protein drinks but found out it could be due now to my new tummy not accepting lactose products so I will be out and running to get new ones.  I lost 7 pounds in the 2 weeks since my surgery but lots of inches gone.  Finally a bit stronger and very ready to go back to work slow and easy on Monday.  Trying to start soft foods we will see how that goes.  It is a beautiful day here in TX so how to spend some time outdoors.

Hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful day!.  Lots of errors Ruby have some fun!!

Hello Mikka....just an FYI...the "Boost" high protein drinks I have are lactose and gluten free.Just be sure to have the Calorie Smart or Glucose Control as they are very low in sugar.

My first soft food was going to Taco Bell and getting a side order of re-fried beans w/cheese. I remember back then I divided it into 4 portions...now that makes me laugh!

So glad you are feeling better!!!

Love and hugs...connie d

Hi Ruby and my OFF family:

I didn't sleep all that well last night ... kept waking up sweating. Finally gave up and got up at 8:30 a.m. Much too earlier for me.

I had a busy day yesterday ... took my boss shopping at CVS, Walmart, Home Depot and PetsMart for me. He was going to take me to dinner, took, but we were both pooped. So he gave me some money and I took him home. Watched basketball and vegged after hauling in all the shopping. Way too much. But I hadn't been shopping for way too long. Now I have enough for several weeks. I'm going to make salsa chicken today in the crockpot.

I already started cleaning the bathroom ... not my favorite thing to do but it needed it. Now, I've got an icepack on my back. Yup, I do these things in stages. Did the toilet, started the sink (will have to go back to that); will do the tub later because that's a lot of bending which will aggravate my back.

But I'm off today and plan to watch basketball most of the day. Have to run out quickly for a couple of things I didn't get yesterday. I'll do that after the first game gets over (Indiana vs. Illinois ... should be a good game).

Anyway, that's my day off ... just hanging around, unpacking, laundry, cleaning a little. Really tired after not sleeping, so I'll probably get in a nap.

Have a good day.

Good morning Ruby and everyone....

Ruby...you have a very full day!! I envy you as I still can't accomplish much in a day.

I made it to the funeral yesterday. It was very nice. The ride there and back was hard on my body. Two hour drive each way!!  I came home about 7:00 PM and laid down. I took my meds and went to bed at 8:15PM. Had kind of a restless night as it was hard staying comfortable.

It snowed here again last night. We only got an inch or so. I hear by the weekend we are going to be getting 4-8 more inches. I thought spring was on the way...what is this???

I am planning on making a large meatloaf large today and freezing most of it. I am also going to make my high protein meatballs...they are so yummy!! I will be freezing them as well.

Wishing you all a beautiful day!!  Sending prayers for many in need.

I hope Butch is doing well today after his knee surgery.

Love and many hugs to all...connie d

Connie, glad you made it to the funeral.  As Robert says, 'There are some things you can not go back and do later.'   I know the trip was hard on you.  Hope you got some rest today.

Really, I do not get much done these days.  I have been trying to clear out some of the clutter around here.  My first month-in-law left a real mess for her family when she died.  I do not want to do that to my family.  Also, I may have to move one of these days.  I hate to say this but Robert's health is not good, so....

BTW it was 37 when we walked this morning and has been in the 70's this afternoon.  I am in the South.  I wish I had the energy to want to do something in the yard, but I can not get going in that direction.

Sometime when you feel like it, tell us how you make the meat balls.

Bye for now

Ruby....the recipe is so easy....I posted it long ago but will do it again.

Protein Meatballs

1# ground beef or ground turkey

1# italian pork sausage (I use mild)

1 cup fresh shredded parmesan cheese (I use the whole 5oz. container)

1 8oz. package of shredded Mozzarella cheese

3 eggs

Mix all ingredients together. Form into 9 balls. They will be 3 oz. and a perfect meal size for us WLS people!!

Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Cheesy and yummy!!

My grandchildren love them.  I make theirs a bit smaller and I use them in spaghetti sauce. They are never wasted!!!

I like them plain and just have a side of veggies.

Enjoy....HUGS....connie d

Hello sweet sistas!

Sitting here waiting for the home health people to call.  They said they would come out Friday afternoon.  So I have been busy, busy all morning cleaning and picking up the house (because you all KNOW that Christie sure as hell didn't do a damn thing while we were gone!)  Sorry--mini-rant of the day.

Butch had a pretty decent night.  Much better than in the hospital!  Me, too.  I took 2 Tylenol PM and crashed.  We've done his morning exercises and he's in the CPM (continual passive motion) machine for 2 hours at a time, which is great for me!  He's pretty much confined to the bed for 2 hours which frees me up to do other things.

Carrie is here and she is taking care of so many things for me!  She cooked our dinner last night and she's watching the baby for me today.  Chris is back at work today, which is good, because I'm pretty put out with her right now and her messy ways.  We would probably fuss all day if she was here.  Somehow, someway, we have to find a way for her to have her own place.  She and I are just not made to live together.

Ruby, Mikka, Connie and Eileen--I read your posts and now I can't remember a single word any of you wrote!!!  I'm sorry dear friends!  Cut me some slack for today, okay?  I do love you all.

Vickie, that's OK ... I can't remember what everyone posts all the time, either. You are dealing with a lot with Butch dealing with post-op issues. So many surgeons use the CPM ... all the surgeons I went to didn't use it. They wanted you to move your leg yourself. Different docs, different ideas of what works. I can't say what's right, only what I've been through.

I would never be able to live with my mom ... I'm a slob, too. Plus, when she was younger, she was a nag. I just didn't get along with her. She wanted to know my every move. We got along better when we were apart. I am too independent.
