Almost Friday!
There's 2 Thursday posts going, don't know which to post on! Decided on this one....
Went to my GP doctor today to discuss results of my blood tests and Yay Me! My doctor is satisfied, so I am too. I was so sure my A1C glucose 3 month average would be horrible, but I am just under the cut-off so still in OK territory.. I was a little too high fasting but was expecting that, have been into sweets and vino and some too many carbs, gained weight ( am 5 years out and in last 4 years have slowly had creep of 34 lbs), so that was really quite good news as I expected to be put on Metformin and blood pressure pills...
Celebrating with a glass of wine and had weigh****chers frozen ravioli with extra spaghetti sauce and some shredded asiago as I usually avoid pasta (am celbrating!!!) I feel stuffed and tomorrow go back to my self imposed clean living...and the pool when I am not working. I am sooo relieved as was expecting bad news.
I am also delighted with my ferretin...some of you know I became one of the 15% or so who become iron deficient about 3-4 years out from RnY, and the last year and a bit, have been on 300 mgs iron ( 100mgs elemental iron) every second day as it plugs me up if taken daily..According to my lab report I am smack dab in the middle of the normal range, up from being defficient a year ago, so YIPEE!!! I shall keep on taking my present dosage. Also my B12 is a titch higher since I switched over a year ago to liquid ( sublingual for about a minute before swallowing) so better than my readings on sublingual tablets or the strips on tongue, all of them 1000 mcg and just 3 times a week , so am sticking with the liquid B12. My Magnesium and Potassium and Calcium are spot on perfect... Also my Vit D at 4500 iu a day is also smack dab in middle of normal range, so will continue with that dosage...And on and on for all 6 pages ( they took 8 vials out of my arm!), so all I have been doing so far with my supplements seems to be OK. My Folate is high, bu****er soluble and excess not needed is expelled in urine but a load on kidneys, so my doctor suggested I alternate my daily Materna vitamin pill with an ordinary one like Centrum Silver for over 50 as I have been taking the Materna daily, and of course it is higher in Folate and she says why load something on your kidneys maybe not needed in such a high concentration as someone getting ready for pregnancy! OK, so I will alternate even though the Materna has 18 gms iron, and a good source of vitamins and minerals, and was recommended, by WLSurgeons, and the Centrum 50*chewable here in Canada has no iron!
Wishing you all perfect bloodwork...whatever stage you are at!!!
Cheers
