Wednesday and Good Morning

Don't mean to hog the thread but up and wanted to post before morning gets started.  I am to walk with friends and then meet instructor at gym to show me the machines.  Really, I do not plan to use machines, but the introduction comes with membership, so....  I like classes.  I have a treadmill and a bike in the basement, but can not seem to get down there to use them.  Maybe this instructor will encourage me.

I am to go for labs this morning after gym visit, so nothing to eat--ugh.  I have been seeing on another site that one girl eats Quest bars.  I have only seen the ones in the grocery, and they have like 22 grams of sugar.  I noticed on this site an ad for Quest Protein Bars with little sugar.   Some have sugar alcohol.  Anybody eat them?

I am on a cleaning out and getting rid of stuff spree at my house.  Yesterday, I cleaned out the pantry and the freezer is on my list today.  Every drawer/closet in this house is overflowing.  I try to clean out a little every day.  At the rate, I am going it will take me years to get through, and then I will need to start over again.  LOL

Hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning Ruby and OFF Friends,

Ruby, you're not hogging the thread.  Whoever posts first starts the thread.  No rules.  Sounds like you're really tackling the exercise.  Good job there.  Keep up the good work.

My, I'm in need of cleaning up my food big time.  I'm maintaining 100 pound loss from my day of surgery, but need to get rid of sweets big time, and up my exercise.  My foot still hurts, but not as bad as it used to.  Problem is, I only have one sneaker right now.  When I broke my foot, and had my surgery, I only needed my left sneaker.  My sister and sister-in-law packed the rest of my apartment, and they packed my left sneaker somewhere.  It's in a box down in the basement somewhere.  I need to go find it.  Then, I can start walking Utley.  Maybe once I start walking him more regularly, he'll stop using my carpet as a potty.

Today, has me needing to call some doctors, then head to Owosso to visit Social Security, and an AA meeting.  I have to get my direct deposit changed for my Disability check to my new account here in Michigan.  I finally got my checks.  Now, I'm waiting for my Debit card.

I'm dealing with another sinus infection.  I saw a doctor yesterday, and am on another antibiotic.  This is my third infection since being here, which is five weeks.  I see an ENT on Monday.

Must scoot.

Hugs,

Trish

Good morning Ruby, Trish, and everyone!

Finally feeling somewhat normal again and that is wonderful.  I go to the doctor this afternoon and will see if I have lost any weight which I really believe I have.  I am still shooting to go back to work on Monday.  I took my girls to the groomers this morning as they both needed baths and to be shaved.  Walked a little last night.  I have been measuring all my liquids and following the doctors orders to a "T" sipping and sipping on the time schedule he showed.

Ruby, great job on the exercising as I hope to be with you soon.  I haven't heard anything regarding the Quest bars though.

Trish, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.  I hope you get better soon.

It is suppose to be a really nice day here in TX so I hope to be outside for a wee bit.

Hugs and blessings,

 Mikka

Glad to hear you are doing so well.  I don't mean to mislead anyone about my exercise.  I have walked for years, so my body does not know it is exercise.  LOL  I need to do more.  Introduction class at gym went well.  I still rather do classes.

Good morning Ruby and Trish and all my OFF sistas!

Had a long and sleepless night in the hospital. Seems like someone came in every hour on the hour. Ugh. But Butch is doing ok. Still in some pain, but managing ok. I spent the night in a chair. Not the most comfortable night I ever had, but I'll live. Mostly I'm just freezing in here. I can get under the blanket and get warm, but then I have to unwrap to do something for Butch and I get cold all over again. Hope everyone will have a good day today. Love you all!

Hi Ruby, my surgeon does not recommend protein bars at all, although I did use them a bit in the beginning. Dr Garth says to eat real food from the very beginning. That said, I did order a. sample pack of the Quest bars and they were good. A bit too much like eating a cookie for me to feel comfortable with them. I need to stop eating cookies, you know? You are doing well. Hang in there!

Vickie,  Thanks for comment about bars.  I know some drs do not allow bars.  I still drink protein drinks--mostly Adkins Advantage.  I try to eat my protein, but sometimes I fall from grace.

About night in hospital--been there and done that.  Robert spent 15 weeks (May-Sept 2012) in hospitals/rehabs.  I stayed with him 24/7.  I wanted to be there to see doctors/etc.  He was critical much of the time.  One night in a rehab, He would have died if I had not insisted on sending him to ER.  Long story, but he is home and doing fairly well.  He is 80, so recovery has been hard.  I will spare you the details.  Take care of your guy.  Life is so precious.

Morning all!

Well I lost the 3 lbs I regained! Yay!! It feels good to be back on track. It's suppose to be 78 degrees today. I always hated warm weather but since I've lost weight I don't seem to get so over heated. So I'm looking forward to throwing all the windows open today.

Ruby, I haven't tried the quest bars but Bariactric Choice has some great protein bars, fruit drinks and a ton a stuff to chose from. Check out there web site.

Vickie, it's so hard to sleep in the hospital when your a patient much less sleeping in a chair...hope Butch knows what an angle he has, which I'm sure he does.

Mikka, so happy to hear your feeling better! Each day will be better and remember to measure yourself. When you see those inches come off it's so exciting.

Trish, I can relate to sinus infections and I hate them. Hope this antibiotic gets rid of this for you. Take care of yourself.

Connie, how are you feeling? Hope your getting stronger.

Hope you all have a great day, thoughts and prayers for all,

Debbie

Well I was going to say good morning but I guess its afternoon now!  Hope everyone is having a good day.

My husband and I went for our first consult with the surgeon this morning.  We like him and think we made a good choice.  Surprisingly we both have a scope on Friday and only have to do 3 months of supervised weight loss.  Looks like we will both be able to have the surgery in July!  So now I'm really nervous... did anyone else have uber-anxiety after the first step was taken??? Of course I tend to be the "What If" gal and my husband always says not to worry until there is something to worry about. Now I'm thinking of all the things I need to get done before the surgery... seems like a ton on my shoulders.

Well, off to clean cpap hoses and masks, strip the bed and wash everything AND redo my notebook with all the information for our surgeries.

Have a great day all!

Karen

Good morning Ruby and everyone.....

Ruby.....I have tried samples of the Qwest Bars...the only one I even remotely liked was the brownie one. They seemed dry to me and had a funny after taste. I still keep "Pure Protein" bars on hand when I am in a rush and need to grab something quick. They have 2 grams of sugar and 20 grams of protein. My surgeon said they are good. I am just not to eat them all the time as "food" is a better source of protein. I always keep a couple in my purse in case an appointment runs late or whatever....it beats junk food!

I am going to try to run to the bank and stop at the grocery store this morning. I still haven't gotten there and it is already Wednesday. Tomorrow is my friends funeral, if I can make it. I need cash to put in the sympathy card either way. This cold and sore throat is not good. I do have a mask to wear if I go to the funeral....just not sure I have the energy to go.

I feel bad as I was supposed to leave for Iowa this weekend to see my family and take care of Grace for a few days. I am just too sick with this cold and still too weak to make such a long trip. I hate this....I have missed so much!!! I have pretty much been home bound since the first of January!

Wishing you all a beautiful day!! Prayers for those in need...special ones for Vickie and Butch and a few others.

Love and hugs to all....connie d
