Sunday morning and the rain is still comin' down

Good morning sweet OFF sistas!

It's still rainy and damp here, but we are happy about it.  It could rain for a week and we still wouldn't catch up around here.

Okay, the official word on the Roomba is--IT ROCKS!  Oh my goodness.  What a wonderful busy little thing that Roomba is.  I am learning the best way to use it is to let it clean one room at a time.  Go into that room, prep it (pick up all the obstacles on the floor, scoot the furniture around a little if needed), and then let 'er rip!  It just picks up everything.  I love it!

Also learning that a Clorox wipe is the best thing for spot cleaning this new floor.  See a spot on the floor?  Pop a wipe and viola! it's history.  I may never have to mop again!

Yesterday Butch and I hung the last 6 plantation blinds.  Oh, it looks so nice in here now with the new floors and the new blinds!  Almost like a real home.  I can't wait to make my new curtains in a couple of weeks.  Then it will really look like a home.

So, you remember that Butch is taking me to see George Strait?  We got our tickets early using his AMEX card.  Good thing, too.  The tickets officially went on sale yesterday morning.  They sold 72,000 tickets in 6 minutes!  The Alamodome is completely sold out.  I can't believe I'm lucky enough to be going!

Got to start thinking about next week and Butch's surgery--what to pack, how to manage, etc.  Poor baby has been in such discomfort and pain this past week.  I truly hope and pray this surgery makes a positive difference in his quality of life.  Prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery would be appreciated.

Guess that about covers it for me today.  Love you all!

Good morning Vickie and everyone.....

Vickie....you sound so happy today. Glad the floors are done and the blinds are up!!  That little Roomba sounds like a miracle worker!! I am so happy you have it. Sounds like it will save you a lot of time and extra work. I am so jealous that you get to see George Straight. I have only seen him once. What a great performer!!!! I know you will have an awesome time!!

Not been a good week here. My niece, Pam passed away a couple days ago. She was the daughter of my oldest sister. She has been in a nursing home for years. She weighted over 500 pounds...need I say more. She had two grown children. That part of our family pretty much kept all to themselves. They are unique to say the least. This morning a good friend of mine, John passed away. He has been dealing with spinal cancer for about a year. It had spread throughout his body. He was in so much pain and just dwindling away. Last week he couldn't even talk anymore. He was a great guy and loved by many. As hard as it is, it is a blessing he is gone.

I am just going to lay low today. Nothing planned. Like I said it was a hard week.

Wishing you all a wonderful day!! Prayers for those in need.

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Connie, sorry to hear about your niece and friend. About your niece, that would have been me, except I had WLS. I was headed up that way before I got help. I understand that mindset. I always said I'd be dead before 60. Now I have hope that that won't happen. And with your friend, I agree, it's probably a blessing that he's at peace and out of pain. I always felt that way with my dad. I know it's hard to lose loved ones, but sometimes it's for the best.

You are in my thoughts ...

Thank you Eileen...I know you care.

Pam was heavy all her life....as was her husband. They used to think it was funny to watch their 2 and 3 year old kids "each" eat a package of 6 bismarks at a sitting!!! They all just lived to eat. She couldn't even get out of her bed for years. Finally the nursing home as she couldn't be taken care of at home an longer. My sister reported then to the county over and over again. Nothing was ever done.

Yes...it is a blessing that John has passed. It just all hurts right now.

Love and hugs....connie d.

Sweet Connie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your niece and friend.  Lord knows, I was gaining weight so fast, prior to WLS, I could have easily weighed 400-500 pounds, if I lived that long.  I fear my sister will die young, if she doesn't do something.  I already have buried both of my brothers, one at 40, the other at 56.

Sounds like your friend is at peace, and not in any more pain.  God works in mysterious ways.  Sometimes, I struggle with His will.

Take care of yourself.

Hugs,

Trish

Morning Vic...see we have two threads today...haha answered Trish already on hers..so here is one for yours also.

We had a great trip to Rick's aunt and uncle yesterday!! Had a good time and he got a nice gift of his grandpa's rifle!!! OMG!!!! I forget what it is but it is wonderful!!!!!!! Stopped at a sporting goods place on the way home to get a gun case for it and they allowed us to bring it in to fit it and their mouths dropped!! Guess its a nice gun...lol. One guy said it looked civil war era to him. WOW. I told Rick next time there is an antique appraisal we should take it and see what they would say its worth. Anyhow we couldn't find a case long or wide enough for it. It sure is beautiful and is in mint condition!!! We want to keep it like that for sure!!

Rick's mom and another aunt showed up. She got the afghan and paid me for it...wow. She liked it alot and Peggy, Rick's aunt thought it was for her...I said no but if she would let me know three colors I would make one for her if she really wanted one. She never did answer me...YET. Rick's mom called me this morning and mentioned that Peggy would like one...I said I need three colors and when yarn went on sale I would get them and start making it. Then she started making excuses that she never wanted her to see the one I made for Nita. Huh?????? WTH? Not sure what she meant by that but then she starts saying Peggy has no place to keep the afghan if I made one for her. Again...WTH???????? This woman jealous or what? I made one for her already so what is her problem????????

Well we are off to find something for the grill today seeing as its going to be in the 60's!!!!!!! Yes I said 60's!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!! BUT.....rain in the forcast for later tonight and tomorrow!!! YUCK!!!!!! BUT...... its better than snow!!!!! LOL As long as its not a heavy rain!!!

Glad that your Roomba works well and wish I had my apartment looking like a home!!! We still don't have things on the wall but a couple things!!! GRRRRRRRRR and ofcourse best wishes for Butch and Prayers as well that this surgery on his knees will help him!!!

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!

HUGSSSSSSSSSSSS

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

Wow, we are doubly blessed today ... two threads! And rain in Texas, too. That's great.

Vickie, Butch has a long road to go after knee replacement and he is going to be in some plan afterward. The physical therapy is a ***** And then even when he's discharged from PT (from the hospital and in-home and outpatient PT), he'll still have to do exercises to keep it loose. Having gone through this three times, I can tell you it's tough. Not sugarcoating it at all. Did you guys go through an orientation at the hospital? Every hospital is different. The one here in Evansville had us out of hospital gowns after the first day and in our own clothes to do PT in a group setting, which was nice. We could cheer each other on. Some people had hip replacement, some had knee replacement.

Vickie, I'm reading a book you might like. It's called "Fearless" and it's about a woman named Sarah Bowman, who was a laundress, cook and camp follower in the Spanish-American War. She was called "Great Western" by Zachary Taylor and others. It's a novel but based on true events. Fascinating woman.

Anyway, not much happening here. I couldn't get much sleep last night. Woke up several times and didn't get back to sleep so finally got up. Stripped the bed, washed the sheets and comforter, put cotton sheets back on the bed and a clean comforter, then ran the dishwasher. I'll have to take a nap before work.

Have a good day.
