Oh, I see.  Well, crud.  That does sound yucky.  At least you've made one week out of five now.  As bad as it is, it is TEMPORARY!  You can do it.  I hope and pray the applesauce will help!

Mikka-

Welcome to the club.  I had a VSG two years ago.  I was not diabetic so I didn't have to worry about insulin or diabetes meds.  I take thyroid and at the time of surgery I was taking diuretic and blood pressure meds.  My surgeon stopped the diuretic bp meds the morning of surgery and I haven't been back, so I would challenge your doctor about whether you continue to take at the dosages you were taking, especially, if you lost weight during the preop liquids.  Applesauce will help or crystal lite as Eileen suggested.

Interesting that your surgeon discontinued the insulin as well.  My surgeon's hospital bascially told us that if our blood sugar was over 100 we would receive insulin whether we were diabetic or not.  Apparently, blood sugars rise from the stress of surgery and people with higher blood sugars heal slower.  So not to worry you but challenge the doctor.

The blues are probably a reaction to the anesthesia.  Hang in there it will get better.  You should be almost ready for your two week postop and I think you'll be delighted with your results.

Hi Mikka, I had to crush my pills postop, too. I mixed mine into Crystal Light Orange. Seems that masked any yuck factor, I don't know why. But it worked with me. It especially worked with the liquid zoloft I had to take. Talk about yuck!

Mikka, Congratulations on your WLS, it is only for a couple of weeks you'll have to crush them. LIke Eileen, I too crushed mine up into orange Crystal Light and like she said, it worked for me too. I know it is nasty and bitter, but it is short lived.

Greetings Vickie,
I'm late again. Colleen called first thing and needed me to go with her, and the boys, for about an hour. When I got home, I had to take care of a few things, then the post office. I am now at a laundromat. I really need to buy a washer and dryer. Colleen lets me use her's, but I have way too much today.

My older son, Chris is coming tonight. He's in Detroit on business. He'll fly back to New York tomorrow.

Must scoot.

Oh, welcome Ruby. Glad you joined us.

Mikka, like Vickie says, one day at a time. Hang in there.

Hugs,
Trish

Good Morning Vickie and OFF Family,

Vickie, where's Butch having his surgery?  Mine is scheduled for 4/15; getting all the pre-op done now. Keep us posted on Butch's progress. I'm jealous of your George Straight tickets.

Mikka, pills can be a problem in the beginning.  Crushing them is so nasty tasting.Thankfuly it is temporary.  Just take it one step at a time. So glad you have joined us!

Connie, hope this is not another cold coming on.  Try to rest as much as possible.

Trish, enjoy Chris' visit.  Love how happy you sound!!

Not much going on today in my neck of the woods.  Some errands to run and laundry to finish so I can pack to short trip to the coast.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hugs and prayers, Sandra

Sandra,

The hospital is the Methodist Ambulatory Surgical Hospital (or MASH for short!) on Huebner.  It has a lot of very high ratings and is a small 31 bed facility.  I'll be sure and post about the surgery.

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

Hope your bloodwork is OK. Nice birthday present, although I'm not a George Strait fan. If that's your thing, I'm glad you're able to go.

I had big plans for today but not able to do what I need to do. No sense in going into that. Just a big mess. I've been spending time on the phone trying to straighten things out.

Plus, I woke up coughing this morning and with a headache, and my tummy is acting up. So I'm not in a good mood.

Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say hi. Have a good day.

Oh, Eileen, I am a die hard George Strait fan!  Been going to see him ever since I was in college and he was playing all the little honky tonks around here.  Of course, we didn't KNOW he was George Strait then.  LOL!  In fact, he and I were at the same university together, but of course, I never met him.  Oh, all those missed opportunities, huh?  LOL!

Hope you start feeling better soon!
