Happy Friday y'all!
Good morning my OFF sistas!
I'm off to get my annual bloodwork done this morning. Ready to give my pint and a half! LOL! My appt with the new WLS isn't until Apr 2nd, but I don't know what my days will be like after Butch's surgery next week, so I'd better go do it now.
SO--drumroll please!--my big news today is that my darling, wonderful, marvelous husband is taking me to see George Strait for my birthday in June!!! Whoo hoo! I'll get to see him on his final tour. He is my absolute favorite of all time! I am so excited!
And, our niece and her family are coming to spend a little time with us in June and they're going, too! It will be a family affair. Plus their youngest son Eli is just 2 years older than Benny, so the boys will have a chance to play together while they're staying with us. We'll also go tubing on the river and other fun things. I can't wait!
I am absolutely dying of thirst this morning, but I'll carry a Pro Joe with me in the car and guzzle it down as soon as they finish drawing my blood. I am feeling better, but the lingering effects of my cold do make my throat dry and scratchy when I first wake up.
So yesterday Butch and I did go into SA and get his pre-op stuff done at the hospital and got all pre-registered, etc. We'll have to leave here at 4 a.m. next Tuesday in order to get him there at 5 a.m. But they said it was very probable that he will have a private room and that I can stay with him easily while we're there. That's good. It's too far to drive back and forth and besides, I don't like to leave a loved one in the hospital overnight alone.
We also went downtown to the Alamo, but the line was just so long. We decided that we would rather spend our rare day off together doing something else besides standing in line. We did eat lunch on the Riverwalk, but then we left. We went to look at RV's instead. Oh, that was fun! We haven't committed 100% to buying one yet, but we did enjoy looking at them and comparing features and dreaming about owning one. The last thing we did was go antiquing, which we both love. Didn't buy anything, but spotted some items we liked.
Well, I need to leave here in a few minutes. Check back in later. Love you all!

Good Morning ALL. Connie D asked me to join your thread, so here goes. I have been lurking for years. Short Introduction RNY 3/2005, easy time of surgery and recovery, Lost 130 pounds and have regained 20 pounds--mostly the last year--critically ill husband--lots of time in hospitals/rehabs--lots of vending machines.
I am in late sixties (I can not believe that.) I live in the south with husband and a cat. Have children and grandchildren but not close by.
I walk two miles most days with girlfriends. I plan to go to gym today to resign back up. Think I will start with Silver Sneakers. I like classes, but seems their schedule is not going to fit my schedule, so thought Sneakers might help for now. It fits my schedule. I eat/drink lots of protein and take my vitamins. My labs are good. I am trying to stay away from sugar, bread and most of the other white stuff. I am 5'1" Have been wearing 10/12's, but can not get my bottom is most of the 12's these days. I have bought a few 14's. UGH
Can somebody tell me how to do the ticker that tracks weight? Thanks in advance.

Hello Ruby,
Go to your account, my settings and on the right is health tracker and then there is a tab along the top that is ticker and tracker. Also there is a tab at the top call message and that has your signature line in it that where you can put your ticker and add to it. In the settings most all of the things you would like to do is there. I hope that helps.
Hi Ruby, and welcome! So glad you decided to join in. I love to hear the long term success stories from people like you. I am only 2 years out, so it gives me hope and inspiration for my future as a WLS patient. Good for you for doing so much exercise. I'm afraid that's one area I'm not very disciplined in. I keep trying to start the habit of a daily walk, but something always seems to get in the way.
Please keep posting daily! You can provide a lot of hope and wisdom for everyone here.

Vickie, thanks for reply. The only way I can get in the walking is to comment to a friend to walk with her. I know she is depending on me to get out so, I go. Sometimes I think it is easier to walk than to call and make an excuse. My most faithful walking friend is 80. When I call with an excuse she gives me a bit of a hard time. LOL

Good morning ladies,
I am not feeling well as I still am not sleeping and now feel like a sinus infection is coming on. I'm still having a problem as soon as the crush pills hit my tongue the "gag" reflex begins and this morning was really bad. I called the doctor's office and they said to try it with some applesauce so I will wait until Bob gets home to go and get some. I believe that I am getting enough water in as I sipped 7 bottles 16.9 fl oz yesterday. I think I might have to see if I can get down a sleeping pill tonight to help get some much needed rest. My shoulders and back ache today. Energy level is still pretty zapped. but I am 7 days post op as of yesterday....woo hoo. It is also funny as I am type 2 diabetic and during the pre-op diet my sugars were running between 72 and 104. Now no food and my sugars are staying around 108-140 but I haven't been doing the insulin as the doctor said I didn't need to unless over 160. Weird though to me.
Thus far I have stayed away from the scales as I don't want to get into that mental game as I have for years and years.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday.
Good morning Mikka! One day at a time, sweetie! You are doing fine. I do wonder why you have to crush your pills? Is it because of the small esophagus problem? I don't know exactly what supplements you have to take for VS (am I remembering right? You had VS and not RNY?), but there are many choices out there. I order my stuff from Bariatric Advantage. They have vitamin and supplement regimens for all types of WLS. My vitamins are capsules, not pills, and are pretty small and easy to swallow. Just wondering if there's not a more palatable alternative for you.
Hope you can get some rest today. Hang in there!
Hello Vicki. Thank you for the encouragement as I was pretty down in the blues this morning.
Yes you are remembering right I did have VS. The multivitamins and calcium are chewable and those I am handling just fine. I have to take an aspirin, a diuretic, two blood pressure pills, my thyroid med, and a diabetic pill. These are what are causing me the horrible taste problems. Per the doctor's office for now without crushing them they would just pass through without giving me the effect of dissolving and utilizing them. Later on I am suppose to be able (if I need them which they think I won't - I pray to God that is the case) I can go back to swallowing them but not for at least 6 weeks until my pouch heals. There isn't a liquid of these either as I already asked.
I will work on getting my spirits up as I don't want to be depressed over it.
Blessings and hugs,
