Happy Thursday--what's happening with you?
Good morning OFF sistas!
I'm up early because I went to bed so early last night! I made myself lie in bed until 6 a.m., and then I just gave up and got up.
So the good news is that they finished our floor yesterday! All except one little bit at the front door, but Butch had them wait on that because he's going to be doing so much work there, changing out the front door and building those venting side lites for me. Oh, I do love this new floor!
And yesterday I went to Best Buy and I bought a Roomba! Haven't taken it out of the box yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing how well it works.
I ran quite a few errands yesterday, including getting my hair cut for the first time at a new salon here. I had the same guy cutting my hair for over 20 years in Nacogdoches. It was pretty scary making a change to someone new! But Stacy did a good job and I'm happy with my new shorter 'do!
So, today, we absolutely HAVE to go to the hospital in San Antonio and get some pre-op stuff done for Butch before next week. I sure hope Christie wakes up feeling better today. She spent almost the entire day in bed yesterday. Between the nausea and a terrible headache, she was pretty well wiped out. Connie, I don't think it's the flu, but you never know. We'll see how she feels today.
Anyway, we will try one more time for a "date" today. LOL! Third time's a charm, right? I still want to go to the Alamo and have lunch on the Riverwalk.
I think on Friday I'd better go have my bloodwork done for my annual WLS checkup. My appt is not until Apr 2nd, but I don't know what my schedule will be like after Butch has his surgery next week.
Thinking about all of you dealing with the massive snowstorm. That has got to be an ordeal. So happy to see so many new posters and lurkers coming out of the woodwork this week! Come and join in our daily posts!
Love you all!
Good Morning Vickie and OFF-
Beautiful sunny morning here in East Texas. I'm going to work today to make up for taking Monday off to see the doctor. I'm also playing the waiting game on lab tests and doctors.
The Gyn I saw on Monday thought that I shouldn't be having any vaginal discharge if I'm truly in menopause. She referred me for an ultrasound and to a gynocological oncologist for a consultation. Saw the Oncologist on Tuesday night, she worked me in. She was very straight forward and gave me the facts. She tried to do an endometrial biopsy in the office but due to two previous DNC's she couldn't get a sample without extensive pain. So she ordered blood work to verify whether I'm truly in menopause.
If bloodwork reveals I'm not in menopause then we jus****ch and wait. If I am truly in menopause there is a 5% chance I could have endometrial cancer. We could watch and wait on that as well and repeat the ultrasound in 3-6 months. Or I can go ahead and have a hysterectomy. I'm leaning toward that option since I have better support and medical options here in Houston than in Maine. It will delay my trip east to check on Mom a bit but she seemed reasonably confident that I could have a laproscopic procedure. So it's the waiting game for the rest of the week.
This government sequestration stuff and the inability to deal on a budget for 2013 has through the refuge staff into a funk. The fire crews have already been told that they will be the first to be furloughed. The project leader has already had to cancel a family event scheduled for the end of March. He couldn't see the sense of asking fire crew to work the event if they would be furloughed in April. I have to support him in this decision. Our government is a mess.
I will be curious to hear how the Roomba works. I have hardwood floors in Maine and I'm forever vaccuming or dust mopping them.
The book project is going well. We have 450 photos submitted after only three weeks. We've got school children coming next week and photographers lined up. I am really having fun with this project.
On the weight loss front I am rededicated to getting back on the wagon. I'm going to do a sugar cleanse starting tomorrow. Also eliminating coffee with creamer. I have crotch rot from all the sugar and I'm going to get rid of it come hell or high water. I had to buy a pair of size 22 jeans as the size 20 have gotten too tight. Not happy by this but I've been given a tool that will help me and I have reaped the rewards of weightloss so I'm not going to let this bump in the road throw me off course. I have to keep remembering all the things I have been able to do in the last 12 months as a result of the weightloss.
Vickie I hope you and Butch get your date to lunch on Riverwalk and Alamo. It should be a beautiful day in San Antonio. The rest of you, I'm sending you positive thoughts through all your struggles, especially those of you in the snow country.

Good Morning Vickie and OFF Sisters,
Vickie, I hope you and Butch can take care of his pre-op testing and have your date. I hope Chris feels better. I know how you feel about finding a new hair place. I'm due for a trim, and not sure where to go.
Today, I have some local errands to take care of. Then, my daughter is coming by to take a few boxes down to the basement.
Change of plans. My daughter is dropping off the boys in a few minutes, so I'll run errands later. She'll take be boxes down after she comes back. She volunteers at Isabel's classroom once a week to teach a reading group. She's a reading specialist taking a year off.
Must run. They'll be here soon.
Hugs,
Trish

As for me...I am feeling much better today...YAY!! I may actually try to get out of the house for a while!! Not planning to do much just a quick trip to the grocery store. Maybe I will eat lunch out for a change. Thank you all for your prayers, good wishes and love! I heard there is another snow storm heading this way tonight. I hope it misses us!
Wishing you all a beautiful day!! Prayers for many in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d
Vickie, my next door neighbor has had a Roomba for about a year. (she named it "Lolo." Ha. She has all hardwood floors and Lolo is often running around when I go over there and we have to lift our feet as she goes under the table. My friend LOVES her!! I would love to have one, but my place is so small and most of it is carpeted so won't work for me. Hope you love yours as much as she does hers.
I'm waiting for 3 loads of laundry to finish and trying to catch up on computer stuff while waiting. Last night my friend who died two weeks ago was the focus of a "poster party." Her daughter had tons of pictures of Noma that we glued to poster boards which will grace the tables of her celebration of life which will be held tomorrow. Lots of pupus, lots of stories, lots of laughter.
Tomorrow morning will be the seaside service after which her daughter, best friend, grandson will go out on an outrigger canoe to distribute her ashes along with tons of flowers. Should be very nice.
Sorry to hear so many of you with physical problems.....seems they just are happening to most of us in various ways. I have been guilty of not exercising like I used to, and I know that would make me feel better. Just can't seem to get the motivation to at least walk on the beach.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your lives, the ups and downs. I always feel love and caring from this group, and it means the world to me.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
Hi Vickie and my OFF family:
Getting on here late ... lounged around in bed til 11 a.m., being lazy, or semi-lazy today. I do have laundry going at least. I want to strip the bed but right now Juliette is napping on it. Oh well, maybe later.
Talked with my SIL Margaret this afternoon. Her mom has congestive heart failure (I guess this wasn't new). She (the mom) is moving into her new apartment in the assisted living center in early April; they close on the house (which was her mom's house) April 20. So I do have a place to stay when I go up to Chicago in April because Margaret invited me to stay with them. I was so happy to hear that.
Still worried about mom; Margaret says she can't use either of her arms ... the right arm with the broken elbow hasn't healed well and the left one that she injured 10 years ago when she broke her pelvis the first time never was fixed (she tore her rotator cuff). So she can't do much of anything for herself.
Hope you can get your date in and all your hospital work taken care of, Vickie. I hear Roombas are nice. Cats like to ride them, too (there's a video on YouTube about this ... I still think Juliette would be afraid of it).
Not much else going on here. I don't plan on leaving the house today. I'll do something tomorrow. Have a good day.
