Tuesday-terrific? terrible? turbulent?

Good morning my sweet OFF sistas!

I am up very early this morning because my throat hurts too badly for me to lie in bed any longer.  For some reason, it feels better when I sit up, so up I am.  Boy, I'll be glad to shake this cold!  If I can't remember the last cold I had, I really can't remember the last sore throat!  Ugh.

Spent most of yesterday shopping with Butch.  No, not my kind of shopping, HIS kind of shopping.  Up and down all the aisles at Home Depot.  He's very good at that sort of thing and I go along with him, but the whole time I'm wishing I had my Nook with me!  LOL!  Somehow I just don't find staring at hundreds of electrical parts all that stimulating, you know?

Anyway, I'm very proud of him.  At least I hope I am!  I saw this wonderful doorway at Home Depot last week that has what they call "venting sidelites".  Oh, it's terrific.  A real door and then the sidelites are actually little doors that you can open with window screens to let the fresh air in.  I want it!  Only the price tag is over $2000!  Are they serious?  So I came home and did a search on the internet, but nope!  Can't find it at a reasonable price anywhere.  I had resigned myself to not getting it, but Butch thought about it and announced that he can build it.  REALLY?!?!  Whoop!  So we bought all the stuff yesterday.  Can't wait to see how this turns out.

I need to call the flooring place today and confirm that they are starting on our new floors tomorrow.  They said "probably" but it might be Thursday.  Either day is okay, but if it's tomorrow, I need to run through the house and pick up everything.  I have no idea where they'll start with such a massive project, you know?

We had incredible winds here yesterday.  Y'all won't believe this--I didn't and I saw it happening--but you know those metal chutes in the grocery store parking lot?  Where you return your baskets?  The wind was blowing so hard that we watched it blow several of those big chutes across the parking lot like they were toy sail boats!  Boy, was I glad one of those things didn't crash into the side of my car!  I just assumed those things were bolted down, but nope!  They're free standing and they can move!

Well, I sitting here suppressing a cough because I know it's going to hurt like the dickens.  I think I'll go make some hot tea with honey and lemon.  Thinking about several of you today.  Connie, please let us know your test results.  Judy, I'm so sorry about the arthritis in your wrist.  Ouch!  Can't be fun.  It runs in my family, too.  So far, I've been lucky, but I'm sure my time is coming.  Mikka, you hang in there.  Only a couple more days to wait.  So glad to see so many new faces joining us.  Welcome to everyone!

Love you all!

Good Morning Vickie and OFF Family,

I had a rough time babysitting last night.  Lincoln was being a little stinker, and not cooperative when I needed it most.  They got to be ten minutes past their bedtime.

Today, I have to go into Lansing for an appointment, and to do some laundry.  Colleen has offered to let me use her washer/dryer, but I have to do my bed linens, so I'm going to use the big machines at the laundromat.

We're expecting a snowstorm this afternoon/evening.  Not sure I'm going to make it to Bible study.  My fear of falling is huge.  After last year in the hospital, I'm extra cautious about falling.

Have a blessed day.

Hugs,

Trish

Good Morning Vickie, Trish and OFF-

Vickie hope your throat is better soon.  Honey and lemon are my standbys.  You might want to be checked for strep throat, that infection is very painful!

Vickie-  I like the sound of that door.  I'll have to trek to Home Depot and check it out.  I need new doors in Maine.

The wind last night was horrendous.  I was worried that it was going to flip the RV.  Kept hearing bumps and knocks all night long.  I did a walk around this morning and can't find anything loose or missing.  It's still windy this morning but not as bad as last night.

I'll be heading to yoga class soon.  I've decided to modify my work schedule so I can go to the 9am yoga class on Tuesday for the rest of my time here.

Not much else is new here.  I'm still struggling with the comfort eating.  I have a book on how to comfort myself without food.  I look at it while eating the comfort food.  How silly is that.  I will not buy bigger pants, I will not buy bigger pants.

Hey Cindi,

You can check out those doors at this addy: http://www.benchmarkdoors.com/patio/

It's really the coolest idea.

You know, I have never had strep throat.  I rarely get sick at all.  I took a hot steamy bath after rubbing down with Mentholatum and that helped.  Took some Mucinex cough syrup and I'm on my third cuppa.  I think I might live.  My voice has dropped about 3 octaves though.  Benny looks at me funny when I talk!  LOL!

No, do NOT buy bigger pants.  I'm at that same point.  Teetering between a L and an XL.  I will not buy bigger pants either.

We have all sorts of downed limbs and debris, and I notice that our neighbors basketball goal blew over across the road.  I hope we don't have that big wind again today.  It was driving me bats yesterday for sure.  I can only imagine how you must have felt in an RV.  I've said it before, you're a gutsy lady!

Hope you have a good day!  Good for you with the yoga class!

Good morning Vickie and everyone....

Vickie...I am glad Butch is so handy. I am sure he will make the perfect door for you. It sounds wonderful!!! So sorry you have a bad sore throat. If it persists please see a doctor. You made me chuckle when you said Benny looks at you funny when you talk. I can just picture him looking at you! I hope the people laying your floor get there soon. Hang on tight to Butch so you don't blow away in those gusty winds when you are outside!!

Trish....I am glad you are being cautious when going outside. Be very careful carrying that laundry in and out.

Cindi...I laughed when you said you were eating while reading that book...that sounds like me!! Enjoy your yoga class! Be careful that you don't blow away. We need you here!!!

As for me today...I am sitting waiting to hear from my doctor. He told me to call him if I haven't heard from him by 11....believe me I will! I didn't sleep well last night. I did too much yesterday. Pam was cleaning my sister's bathroom. I was running around trying to help get the things she needed. My sister sat in her chair. She never cooks and hasn't for years. She was a wreck trying to remember how to make our mom's chili. I took over and did it as she was making such a mess!! She is 73 years old and doesn't know how to cut up an onion!! The recipe is so easy. Her son was coming over to clean all the snow off the deck. I was doing it but can't anymore. He is my favorite nephew so I was glad to make the chili for him. He requested it!! He loved it! My sister ate a bowl of it and we sent the rest home with him. He was so happy!!! Nothing else planned for me today except a NAP!!! I will update when I hear from the doctor.

Wishing you all a great day!! Many prayers for those in need. Special ones for some. Our sweet Maui Karen included!!

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Hi Vickie and my OFF family:

Well, I've tried twice to post and the posts have disappeared midway. Not doing much today ... just hanging around the house. It's my weekend and I'm too tired to do anything. Maybe some laundry and unpacking later ... just finishing up my coffee.

Have a good day ... going to try to post this before it disappears on me again.

Good evening Vicki and my OFF friends,

I am so sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well Vickie.  The door sounds wonderful and I am just a tad bit envious.  Be sure to send some pics if you can.

The wind is crazy here as well but not to terribly cold thankfully.  I did my preop today at the docs and hospital.  I am to be at the hospital on Thursday at 10:30 with surgery to begin at 12:30.  Going to be hard to be on clear liquids tomorrow all day and then nothing until late Thursday night but it will all be worth it.  Of course then I will have 2-3 weeks of liquid diet and then progressing to liquid/soft foods for 4-6 weeks afterwards.  The best news was that I weighed in at 282.4 which was a nice lost from the 298.  Put just a little pep in my step.  After a continuous 12 months of a 3-4 pound gain each month it was nice to see a lost without having to use my insulin these last two weeks.  There is hope!!!

My honey and son are both still sick so I am keeping my fingers crossed and prayers said that I don't come down with it before surgery (better if not at all).

I hope everyone else is doing well and taking care of yourselves.

Blessings,

Mikka

Okay, it's not an official diagnosis or anything, but I'm pretty sure I have the flu.  I've had the chills and the muscle aches all afternoon.  I bet it's been 20 years since I've had the flu.  And it just makes me so damn mad because I went and had the friggin' flu shot!  I also use hand sani and wipe down my shopping carts, etc., religiously.  Anyway, I feel like poop and spent the afternoon in bed, despite the fact that I have that flooring crew coming tomorrow and I needed to pick things up.  Well, I reckon this won't be the first messy house they've ever encountered, huh?  Right now Butch is talking about getting me a motel room tomorrow so I can spend the day in bed.  Really?  I don't know.  Maybe.  I sure couldn't get out of bed today.  I'm going to bed now.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.
