Sunday thoughts....

Just a few thoughts on yesterday's posts first:

Judy-  we cannot change our SITUATION but we CAN change how we RESPOND to it!

Connie-  so happy to hear that Nic’s tests show GREAT results… *sending more loving healing energy as always*

Eileen- clean panties are ALWAYS a bonus!

Vikki – I LOVE your description of this group!  You carry a lot of responsibility and handle it all so well and positive! KUDOS to you!

Trish – bless you and your Mom…I used to devour books…then I moved to FOOD….lol…

Debbie-  There’s nothing wrong with a slower-paced lifestyle….savour every day…we only get one at a time. *s*

Darlene- Welcome back!!!

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I went into the city, had a three hour business lunch meeting with 4  BPW members and we made a lot of amazing progress with ideas and information to create an amazing women’s event in the summer. LOVE brainstorming!!!  We all had a healthy roast chicken meal at Swiss Chalet and I had two for one coupons so we all got a deal!

Then I stopped to buy skim milk powder for my daily protein drinks. I have to say that since my surgery, I still have NO appetite. WHODA EVER THOUGHT!!  I note that my MOUTH gets “hungry”, if you can understand that, never my POUCH. It’s a MIND thing.  I know I’d better eat something when I start to shake a lot.   So I struggle to eat enough protein…as a result, I try to drink 1-2 hot chocolate protein drinks (Matrix.5 from bariatricpantry.com).  Little weight loss (likely because I do not eat enough so body goes into starvation mode) but the doctors still do not like me losing weight because they equate that with losing strength.

From there, I went to VitalAire…I had to buy a whole new headset and mask and new hose too for my C-Pap machine…the foam liner was disintergrating, the flexible hose had developed some cracks that leaked air and so the air pressure dropped…no wonder I wasn’t feeling rested even when I did sleep....five breaks in the hose!   I ended up paying over $250.00 but perhaps our extra private health insurance will cover half of that.  Regardless, it was badly needed. So I had a pretty solid five hour sleep with my new mask, and hose! I have to laugh a bit….the  NEW head harness is PINK!

Sunday will be quiet.  Danny is sick with the flu and now he got a boil on his neck,..,he has never been on antibiotics in his life and he doesn’t like doing it now. But I’m sure his immune system is lowered by all that excess pressure and long hours at work for the last six months.  Derek is struggling to get his SKIDSTEER running again….always an issue with diesel fuel. But it also keeps JB outside working with him….I need my own space now and then *s*

Adding to my crochet bin....I’ve got several multi-coloured shawls made and now I’m working on another lap blanket for the nursing home. Crocheting keeps my hands busy and flexible and then I do not feel guilty for wasting time jus****ching TV and it also helps me focus on my handwork instead of the bone pain. Keeps me out of trouble.

Well, that’s all from me for now.

Stay safe, special hugs for those needing them, positive thoughts, love and energy to all wishing for health healing.

Good Morning Nancy and OFF Family,
Mom, Sis and I have been having daily Scrabble games each evening. Yesterday, my sis-in-law stopped by with my nephew, and we played two games, with pizza in between. Plus, my nephew and I watched one of the football games.

Today, I'm supposed to get a ride to an AA meeting, but I think I'm gonna cancel that plan. I haven't been feeling so great in my pouch/tummy system, and am gonna take it easy. Just leaving the house on crutches is such a workout, I know that I'm not up to that this morning.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Love and Hugs,
Trish

Morning OFF...well we got some rain and all the snow is now gone. Some moved their cars to higher grond just incase it flooded. The big rain didn't come like they said it would thank GOD!!!!!!! Guess our prayers worked once again!!! Waiting for a call from one tenant because one of the cars that moved to higher area is in "her" parking spot. I am ready for her though...lol.

Need to do laundry today before my jeans walk away by themselves!!! Rick gave me quarters so I am set to do it now!!!

Making Country ribs for supper today. Haven't had them in a long time. Not sure if I will cook them in the oven or if Rick will cook them on the grill. Guess we will see how the rain is today. Cooking them in the oven they will be more tender. Maybe I will make some potato salad to go with them. That sounds good! YUMMMMM!!!

When I went to open this morning I noticed bags of trash sitting on TOP of the dumpsters instead of INSIDE. Why do they do that??? All the ferrel cats get into the garbage and then trash is blowing all over the place. Guess its called job security huh? Guys will be busy tomorrow.

Took Rick to get his hair cut yesterday. Finally!! Got tired of looking at that long hair!! Now he looks like a man again!! LOL We also did some window shopping...saw things that we won't be able to buy for years!!! OMG!!! How in the heck do people afford things like new furniture???? And NO we will NOT rent it!!! It costs MORE in the long run!!!

Got a call from H&R Block yesterday. Want me to set up appointment to get our taxes done. UMMMM we don't even have our W2's yet!!! How can we set up appointments?????? Hello!!!!!!!!??????? Will call when we get them!!!

Vicki...Eileen...great idea on PORZAC!!! But one thing you forget....I do NOT have medical insurance....dr visits run about $100 for office call then the cost of the medication and then return visit to dr again to see how you are doing...how do I afford that?????????? So that is out of the question. And right now we have to come up with the money not only for one but TWO crowns one for me this month and one for Rick next month plus his surgery to get under his gums to clean so we are looking at about $1000 our cost. Nice huh? So me going see a dr out of pocket right now is out of the question unless it is an emergency. And I do not think that is an emergency at all. But thanks anyhow.

Well best get going and start the laundry and then get my potatos cooking for potato salad.

Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!

HUGSSSSSSSSSS

Good morning Nancy and everyone....

Nancy.....first of all thank you for the wishes  for Nic and me....you are always so kind! Sounds like you had a nice luncheon with friends......and a great deal too!! I am happy to hear you are getting your protein in even if you aren't hungry. Can you post pic's of your shawls....they sound so pretty!

Judy.... I guess you can call it job security....lazy people is what I think. Doing it to make you mad more likely.

Trish....sorry your tummy is bothering you today. Rest up and I hope you feel better soon!

I got home about 9:00 last night. The bus ride was long but uneventful. I was happy about that!  I still will never ride the bus again!!!

Nothing planned for me today.I was in so much pain I came home and got ready for bed and crashed. This is unheard of for me. I always completely unpack and put everything in it's place.  I just couldn't do it. It will get done this morning.

Wishing you all a beautiful day!! Prayers and good thoughts for all.

Love and hugs to everyone......connie d

Good morning Nancy B and all my OFF sistas!

Well we went from warm and humid yesterday to very cold today!  Brrrrr.  Texas weather--gotta love it!

We are getting ready for Butch to leave today.  Sigh.  Hopefully this is the last time for a long time, maybe forever!  I will miss him so much.  But he will be back on Feb 14th--just in time for Valentine's Day.  Maybe he'll bring me some jewelry from the Middle East!  He used to do that all the time when he was working in India.  It's been a long dry spell, though.  I don't think Saudi is much known for jewelry.

Judy, I do understand about the health insurance.  Christie got sick and had to leave work and go to the Texas Med Clinic yesterday.  That was $116.  Then her 2 prescriptions were each over $100, too!  Of course, Mom paid for it all.  She may be an adult, but she's still my baby.

However, I do take a generic Rx for the Prozac and it's way cheaper than the name brand.  It might be possible for you to still get it.  And I didn't have to make a follow-up appt with my doc either.  Just the 1st appt and then the Rx.

We didn't go to the zoo yesterday.  Butch said he didn't think his knees were up to doing all that walking.  I'm hoping and praying that knee replacement surgery will give him his mobility back!

Well, I need to hop into the shower and get ready for the trip to the airport.  Love you all!

Thanks for those kind words, Nancy B!  Sometimes I think my family doesn't realize all that I do for them.  It's nice to be acknowledged!

However, I do think you win the "take life as a positive" prize!  I can only stand in awe of you and your amazing strength.  You are an inspiration to me and to many others, I'm sure.

Morning all!

I have Medicare but I pay cash for my prescriptions and have found a great on-line site for meds. I use to pay $106 a month for generic Zoloft and now I pay $18 for 3 month supply. I've ended up saving $300 a month with this place. I've been having my meds mailed to me for over a year know and they are legit. Give it a try. Some meds are still expensive but I get some from there and others at Walgreens with my AARP card and there prescription program. Another example is Flexeril (muscle relaxer is only $6.50 for 3 months).  And shipping is free.

Steve is leaving for Vegas tomorrow for business, he'll be gone for a week. Had a house full of company yesterday. I love the weekends with my kids here. They always keep things interesting. Michael still has 2 weeks left of his break before going back to Sac State. Krissy's new boyfriend is so quite and shy, I keep waiting for him to open up a little.

This is my favorite recipe site:  http://allrecipes.com/

Type in Asian Lettuce Wraps and the one with 1024 reviews is what I made for dinner last night. There is also a dipping sauce in the reviews I made, plus I added shredded carrots and chopped cashews to it. Boy was it good. Next time I'll use ground chicken. Of course for all the young kids they ate that and cheeseburger and fries we also made.

Hope you all have a great day,

Thoughts and prayers for all,

Debbie

Good Noon Nancy and OFF-

As Vicki reports it's BRR again in Texas.  The inside of my RV is full of condensation thanks to the rapid temperature drop over night along with the high humidity yesterday.

Spending a lazy day inside.  Cleaning the RV and working on the book project that I'm leading for the Friends group.  Mind you I've never put a book together in my life but I keep focusing on the fact that it's like building a telephone something I knew nothing about 15 years ago.  It's starting to come together and I am learning all sorts of new things which is my goal for retirement.

Judy, cannot relate to having no insurance but have been taking the generic form of Prozac for a number of years.  Perhaps that's a county or state mental health ogranization near you that you can go to for a free evaluation.  I know that when my Dad died I went to the county mental health orgranization for grief counseling.  It was ability to pay like Planned Parenthood.  Just a thought.  As for the trash on the top of the dumpsters I have a couple of thoughts.  I think a lot of your clients are elderly if I recall, is it possible that they can't get the door open because of lack of strength?  If it's just lazy then nothing you can do than circulate a flyer asking residents to put in dumpster.  At the same time you can collect donations to trap the cats and have them neutered.  Oh well, that's me, miss fix it!

Connie-  It was great to read about Nic's results.  He's always in my thoughts along with all the others on here who need positive thoughts.

Last few days I've been suffering from what I think is a silent migraine.  I am seeing spots before my eyes even while sitting.  I think the allergies are getting to me.  I have an appointment with an ENT on the 30th to talk about my benign positional vertigo.  It's always in the background since a flare up before Christmas.  Think it's all due to allergies but we'll see.  Have to go buy some more Claritin or Allegra to take everyday.

Well, off to finish the cleaning and then to watch the football games.  I'll do some hand quilting while I'm watching rather than eating.

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

Raining and 35 degrees here in Southern Indiana. It really poured last night and there were tornado warnings, funnel clouds sighted, etc. Lots of activity. Which is probably why I had the bad headache early Friday morning. Very bad storms. This is supposed to produce sleet and freezing rain now ... oh joy ... I have to go to work later, too. Boss called in sick, but we're just going to go with three people ... not too many pages, so we can handle it.

Maintenance guy came in this morning to hook up the dryer, so now I can do laundry. I have one load in the dryer now and one in the washer. Which is good because I had only two pairs of panties left after last night ... had to change when I got home. Had some tummy upset from something last night and unfortunately had a little accident as I left the office. Needed to wash panties AND jeans after that. Yuck. No need to go into details, I think you understand. So I was glad when he came over this morning ... he couldn't get here yesterday because he was too busy dealing with other issues in the complex.

Judy, I know you don't have insurance, but can you get on Medicaid because you're not getting insurance? And then you could do a doc visit, get the prescription and the generic and call it good? Just a thought. Or is there a low-cost clinic somewhere? I know my brother doesn't have insurance either or a job, and he has to figure these things out ... he has gotten his prescriptions through Walgreens, with the generics at $5 or $4 or something like that (I did the same thing when I was laid off).

Anyway, I'm jus****ching football now, doing laundry and getting stuff cleaned so I have clean clothes to wear for work. Didn't have anything clean really ... no sweatshirts or jeans or heavy socks. New washer is so quiet (misspelled this on Facebook ... really just mistyped it and didn't proof my typing).

Well, have a good day ... stay dry and warm.
