Thursday Happenings
Good Morning OFF Family,
Well, I am managing to hold onto my sanity somewhat. The only thing on my agenda today is an appointment with my podiatrist. Other than that, I'm working on finishing a baby blanket that is long overdue.
I read a couple of devotions last night that reminded me that God is with me right now.
Hugs,
Albert Schweitzer

Hi Trish and my OFF family:
Where is everyone today? It's nearly 1 p.m. and only Trish has posted.
I spent a good half hour on my legs this morning cutting up veggies and getting the chili fixins' in the crockpot ... and didn't even realize it. I'm amazed. Yesterday at PT, I got to 124 knee flexion ... therapist said next session will be my last. I can't say I have absolutely no pain, but it is better. The main problem is still the swelling. By the end of the night, my legs are so swollen I can barely lift them up on the curb to my apartment. But otherwise, I have had a good experience with this knee replacement. I have to say Indiana surgeons are better than the guys in Michigan.
Didn't get much done yesterday. After PT, I stopped to run a couple of errands, came home and had lunch, took a nap and vegged for the rest of the day. Juliette napped on my lap with me. Wanted to get the chili started last night, but the ground turkey was still frozen. So that was out of the question (don't like to defrost in the microwave). Watched "The Right Stuff" that I got for a Christmas present from my brother ... such a good movie ... it has two discs so I migh****ch some of the special features this afternoon in between tasks. I need to drop off rent, take out garbage and get the mail, so I do have to get dressed.
Mom is supposed to come home today ... Gary has been busy getting the house prepared for her and the in-home caregiver. Plus, the ho****er heater died so he had to get a new one. Things have been hectic, but I think that has been good for him.
Well, I should get off the computer and do something else. Have a good day.
Hi Pat and Trish! And all my OFF sistas!
I have been very busy all morning playing bookkeeper. My brain needs a break! Moving and opening new accounts and closing old ones is quite complex. Paid off a couple of loans, paid our property taxes, paid our estimated income tax (grrrr!), then paid all the bills--yucky! At least Butch was here to keep Benny occupied and out of my way today.
Pat, I wish I could come and sit with you to keep you company. We could curl up with our crochet and some hot tea! Wouldn't that be lovely?
It's cold here. I guess winter has finally arrived. They say we might get some snow flurries, but not to expect it to stick. Fine with me. I'm ready for spring right now. I don't like the cold.
Eileen, my husband has an appointment with an ortho surgeon on Monday. I feel sure he is looking at at least one knee replacement, perhaps both. I may be picking your brain for advice over the next few months.
Nothing new to report here. Just wanted to say "hi"!
Love you all!
Good afternoon Trish and everyone....
I have had a busy morning too. I stripped and made up my bed. Did some more laundry, mostly bedding. My granddaughter and Tyler who now live in Oregon are on their way here. They will be spending the night and then off to Oregon again in the morning. They spent the last week in the Twin Cities with family having Christmas together. I sure have missed them!!! I am taking them out to dinner tonight and my BFF Pam is slipping away with us. That will be fun. We both could use some silliness right now. I have to pack in the morning as I am leaving for Iowa about 2:30 PM tomorrow. I am taking the bus. I am in just too much pain to drive. That way I can rest and relax and leave the driving to them!! I can't take my pain meds and drive anyway.
So anyway....if you don't hear from me you know where I will be. Nic and I catch a plane on Sunday the 6th and will be in Memphis thru the 9th. I will be staying in Iowa for a few days afterwards. I will try to get on the computer somewhere.
The kids are here now so I will chat again soon.
Wishing you all the best!! Prayers for many in need!!
Love and hugs to all....connie d
Trish I’m glad to hear your holding on to your sanity.
Eileen glad to hear your knees are doing better. Sounds like you’re doing much better than the DH did but, than he got his from a surgeon in MI.
Vickie there is nothing worse than paying bills and taxes.
Connie have a great time and leave the driving to them.
I had my surgery pre-op appointment yesterday which took 5.5 hours. Than today I had the last pre-surgery nursing/nutritional class. So, I had to be up early both days after not getting any sleep since 12/22. First it was getting ready to get off the ship, then getting ready and dealing with Christmas. That led to a nasty cold I can't shake. I have tried coldeze at first than night/dayquil and everything I can think of. I have to get rid of this so I can have surgery.
