Sunday, yes, the last Sunday in 2012!
Hello, everyone- Well we had quite a snow storm on Dec 26 and then another storm 10 hours later….JB and Derek have been snowplowing and salting the business plazas for days. There’s been some equipment breakdowns which adds to the stress but they are managing.
It was Derek’s 35th birthday Dec 29th and he spent 22 hours of that day PLOWING! We had drifts from 3 feet to 5 feet high here. His friends are taking him out to dinner on Sunday, Dec 30th for his birthday. JB and I were invited but, with all the rich foods of Christmas, we are now sipping soup and nibbling instead of big meals. Still crocheting daily- keeps my fingers flexible. This past week, I delivered six crocheted lap blankets to Bella SeniorCare Nursing Home where Mom used to live and asked them to be given only to residents who never get any visitors. Right now, I am crocheting new covers for some of my old cushions then I will start again making lap blankets so I will have many more for next time. Also have some really pretty turquoise wool to crochet myself a shawl, if I ever get to it.
I’m trying to learn how to use my new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet that the boys got me for Christmas…it is an amazing thing to play with! They got JB a special set of nine DVDS of the best of Laurel & Hardy movies, JB’s favourites! We have been enjoying a L&H marathon the last few days….lol.
Santa also brought me some really nice fuzzy sox…I have such cold feet in bed and cannot sleep and Oreo and LilyRose tend to sleep ON us or between us instead of ON my feet!
Have to admit I am happy that the craziness of Christmas holidays has settled down a lot. It gets more and more commercialized every year. I downsize my shopping more and more and we all enjoy the season just as much.
I have a wee digestive issue due to the meds and hopefully by daylight, all will be back to normal, certainly not a big issue to complain about. So here I sit at 2 am…just saw Derek’s big plow truck returning to the shop...he has alternator issues and is trying to change it to his spare to finish his route ...his equipment is old, thank goodness that JB and the boys are so skillful in mechanical work! He will manage on his own w/o me having to wake JB up for help.
New faces here, I see - welcome!!! This is a great group for support! Prayers to those who are struggling with pain and stress. I decided to take the Christmas week off from all computer work…aka BPW commendations. I have three weeks to get two done and that’s a lot of research , however, my sanity and energy are just as important so the files can wait until January 2nd.
Goodness! My post sounds so BORING! I’m sipping the last of my peppermint tea looking outside at all of that white stuff *shivers*. Summer’s coming soon, isn’t it!?

Morning Nancy!!!! Gosh your posts are NOT boring at all!!!!! I enjoy reading of all your activities and such!!! As for the snow...yuck!!! What you have there makes what I have here so little!! We now have maybe 10-12 inches....lol. Like I said your snow makes mine small!!! LOL
Our "New" snowplow guy quit. He said its more than he can handle...so called the old guy back and he was here this morning trying to "fix" the mess the new guy left...I do not see much difference at all....a few parking spots are cleaned out now but still could be MUCH better!!! If my ex could see this bad clean up job I am sure he would be rolling in his grave!!! Wait he was creamated so not sure how else to put it....but anyhow he was a perfectionist on clearing snow and this would be upsetting to him for sure!!
Went to Bingo last night...should of stayed at home!!! The place was packed to the wlls and so noisey you could hear yourself think let alone the numbers being called!!! Sighs. Came home with a headache and told Rick I didn't want to go there for the New Years eve party. Guess I am getting old and can't take the crowds anymore??? So staying home just us....And if that makes Carol mad so be it. She is pressing me to plan on a get together for just us 3. NO WAY!!!!!!!! If we stay home its just me and Rick. :-) Yeah I am wanting to be alone this year I guess.
Well best get going here and take something out of the freezer for supper tonight. Tired of frozen dinners and left over ham.
Thoughts and Prayers for ALL that need them!!!!
HUGS
Nancy, tell your son Happy Birthday from us. I am in the middle of crocheting a pink and white baby blanket.
Judy, sorry to hear your new plow guy quit. Glad you found a replacement.
We only got a couple of inches of snow before it changed to rain. The kids and a couple of friends got the truck loaded in three hours. Sean made it to Pittsburgh safely, in spite of a detour where he had to get off the PA Turnpike and get back on. He drives the rest of the way today.
I'm just sitting in a recliner keeping my feet up. Praying my sister gets Internet hooked up soon.
Tons of hugs,
Trish

Hello Nancy, Judy and Trish! And all my OFF sistas!
It's a quiet day here today. I am missing my husband very much. I hope he comes home tomorrow as planned.
Nancy, you are NOT boring. Believe me. My life is boring, stuck in the house looking after a 2 year old all day. But you--no way.
Judy--sorry about the bingo. One of these days you're bound to hit it big there. I don't blame you about staying in on NY's. I would too. And I would definitely want to be alone with my guy.
Trish, thinking of you this week and praying for a speedy recovery. You about broke my heart with your last post saying you were at the mercy of your mom! LOL--sort of! It's funny, but it's not. Seriously, I hope you are feeling better.
Benny and Christie are both still a little sickly. Benny still has that cough. The cold seems to have settled in his chest now. At least his nose isn't running as much.
I am lost in reading a series of books that I just love. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. For Christmas, I gave myself the entire 7 books on my Nook. I'm into Book 4 now. You talk about an escape from reality. I am hiding in 18th century Scotland!
I like to crochet, too, Nancy and Trish and Judy. I have a sweet friend who is expecting her first baby in April. She is 43! Can you believe that? The whole time I knew her in her 20's, she always declared that she never wanted kids. Then she turned 40 and got baby lust! Took her several years of trying and a fertility clinic, but she finally got her wish. It's a little girl. So I will spend some time this winter crocheting a baby layette for little Harper (unusual name, but pretty I think). I'm waiting for her to pick the colors she wants and then I'll go buy the yarn and get started.
Well, that's about all my news for the day. B-O-R-I-N-G!
Love you all!
Hey, Vickie, my best friend Roxane didn't have her first child until she was 41, then had her second, my goddaughter, when she was 45. After the first one, she tried a couple times and had miscarriages, then when I asked if she was going to have a second kid, she said, "I'm 45, what do you think?" But surprise, Erin showed up. Rox was pregnant when she broke her ankle cross country skiing ... she had to have a spinal to get her ankle fixed surgically, then had to tough it out with tylenol only after. Both kids were born on the same day, four years apart.
Nancy-I have really cut back on the Christmas shopping too. I put money in a college fund for the grandkids and let the other G-parents buy the toys.
I get the grown and married children each a Restaurant card so they can have a nice dinner at a steak house. Bill and I don’t get each other a gift as we have what we need or get it when we need it.
Judy-At least the old guy was willing to come back. Bill and I like a quiet time at home on New Year’s also. Once in a while we go over to my oldest daughter’s house as she has a get together every year.
Trish-Sitting in a recliner keeping your feet up and crocheting sounds good to me.
Vickie-My grandson came over for a little while today and he still isn’t up to par either. It wasn’t bad enough he was sick on Christmas but was still sick and slept thru his Birthday on the 28th.
Still working on packing up all my old big cloths. I never did that with the band but, I believe with all my heart this surgery will be the tool that will help me. I never felt that with the band. So I have all the 22-28 cloths packed up more or less and the oldest DD's blessing to donate the 22-24's as they were 95% bought by her.
Good Evening All,
No rest today. Tomorrow my granddaughter is getting married. Today was lots of last minute shopping and cooking food for the reception. Also had to squeeze in a pedicure...lots of fun with my granddaughter, both of my daughters and the mother-in-law to be.
Tomorrow will be a busy one, so I wanted to wish each of you a happy New Year full of health and happiness.
Hugs and prayers to all, Sandra
