Thursday already!?
I hope that everyone had a nice Christmas! Dan & Amy & Derek came over Christmas morning around 11 am (I got to sleep in because JB put the FrenchToast casserole in the oven for me…takes an hour to bake.) That is a favourite of my guys and I have real maple syrup from the old family homestead to put on it….yum! Had also made five nice cheese logs with old cheddar, spicy shredded cheese, cream cheese & feta cheese and rolled them in sliced hazelnuts then chilled. One for each of the boys to take home too. Of course, I also had the usual hot dips and veggies, fresh fruits, croissants, muffins, crackers and flat breads and shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate and eggnog. We picked at that all day…just made JB and I some hot soup before bed.
They enjoyed going thru their annual Christmas Stockings filled with odds and ends that young people need like toothbrushes, toothpaste, work boot laces, nail brushes, shampoos, hot chocolate, flavoured coffee ( skinny latte and skinny cappachino), their chocolate initials (a Dutch custom) and chocolate oranges. I also got some girly stuff for Amy, exfoliant gloves, foot brush and eye gel pads for chilling in the freezer and apparently it helps her migraines….yayy! Then they each got a nice cheque to buy what they prefer…easier on me for sure!
After the kids left around 3pm, I had a nice nap then started prepping for Dec 26th for our annual Family Christmas Dinner at Derek’s. After that, JB and I spent the evening sipping hot chocolate (mine was a hot chocolate protein drink) and watching hokey Christmas movies…quiet and comfortable.
Wednesday was our big dinner over next door at Derek’s place and all went well. I even ate carefully and stopped before getting full. The kids went together and gave JB a set of nine DVDs – all of his favourite Laurel & Hardy movies! He was so pleased! If the storm hadn’t started, he would have had us all still there watching his movies and laughing.
They also went and bought me a Samsung Galaxy Tab2-10.1 Tablet!! I really wanted one but was waiting for a SALE…now I HAVE to get techie and figure this out.
We could hardly see to get home NEXT DOOR and almost went into the ditch because the snow was so heavy but we made it. Derek’s hired shoveller decided that he did not want to work now and so JB has to help Derek snowplow and shovel the business plazas. JB should not be shoveling at his age of 69 though he is very fit but they have no choice…Derek took his snow-blowers for JB…hopefully he will use that instead of being stubborn…darned Dutchmen! I have to keep my mouth shut…he says I nag…and gets annoyed if I fuss over them.
So now I’m supposed to go to bed and relax and sleep knowing they are out there in a terrible storm plowing. It’s bitter cold and the wind is howling.
No sales shopping for me…I don’t need anything and sure do not wish to fight the crowds to buy more “stuff”.
Have a safe Thursday, everyone. Please be careful on the roads!
Blesssings to all and welcome to the new faces!

Good morning Nancy and all my OFF sistas!
I'm up early helping my husband and daughter and mom get ready to travel today. They are going caravan style, which will be good. I won't worry about Carrie and Mom driving all that way if Butch is with them.
Chris and Benny both have a bad cold, so I will stay here to take care of my babies. Chris has to go into work at 10 a.m. today. IF she's able. She sounds pretty bad this morning. Baby isn't up yet, but he slept all night, so hopefully he was able to breathe last night.
I am sorry to be parted from my hubby for the next several days, but I'm not sorry about not making that dreadful trip back to Nacogdoches. I don't even care that I'm missing the family party on Saturday. That sounds awful of me, I know, but there it is. I can tell you all anything, right?
It got pretty cold here again last night, but it's so dry here. We don't even get much frost on the ground and the windshields don't ice over. Very different weather than what we're used to. But I like it. I don't deal well with sleet and ice, much less snow. Like Connie and Judy, I like the heat better.
Hope everyone had a blessed holiday. Thinking about Trish and her foot surgery this week.
Love you all!
Good Morning Nancy and all my Sisters,
Sorry about being AWOL the past few days. I'm overwhelmed by all that needs done, and I am out of boxes. My foot surgery is today, and I am looking forward to getting this over with.
My surgery is at 12:30 ET today. I'll let you know how it goes.
Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Nancy and everyone......
Nancy....it sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas with your family!! Enjoy your Tablet.....I am sure you will be a pro at it soon! Stay in and keep warm!!
Nothing planned for me today. I have had too much running around lately and need a day to catch up. It is so cold my pain is flared up something awful. I will rest, relax and read a good book.
Well my plans have changed. I just received a call from my BFF Pam. Her mother is in hospice and has taken a turn for the worse. They don't expect her to live more then tomorrow. I am picking up Pam and taking her there now.
Have a good day. So many prayers for those in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d
