Good Morning Family,

Got a lot of packing done yesterday.  Two friends from church are coming this afternoon.  I am heading to the store to get some cleaning supplies, and some diet Coke.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Hugs,

Trish

Good morning Trish and all my OFF sistas!

Trish, good for you on making so much progress yesterday.  Believe me, you have my UTMOST sympathy!  LOL!  So glad our move is behind us now.  It's a huge undertaking, isn't it?

Only have a few minutes to spare this morning.  We are going to see Benny's little Christmas program at preschool today.  I can't wait to see what they do.  We have to have him there at 8:30 a.m. to get into costume and the program begins at 9 a.m.  We don't even know what the costumes are!  It's a big hush-hush.  So cute!

So, for those of you *****ad about my SIL and the Sangria wine yesterday, let me first say thank you for your input.  I didn't think I was out of line, but you never know.  However, my SIL who is the hostess and I talked yesterday, and she said it just wasn't worth offending my other SIL by serving the alcohol.  So we agreed that we would hold back the wine until after the little kids had left and it would be an adults-only type of deal.  I know, it's silly and ridiculous.  But these folks are Southern Baptist and to them all alcohol is a sin.  (I know this because I was raised Southern Baptist myself.)  My BIL is a Baptist preacher, too.  It's just too complicated for words.  But it's not MY family, it's my husband's family, and I don't want to cause a war over a little bit of wine.  Stupid really.  But there you go.  In-laws.  What'cha gonna do?

Got my first look at my incision this morning.  Holy cow.  It's a lot bigger than I thought.  And there's a "dent" in my triceps muscle.  I wasn't expecting that.  That sucker must have been a lot bigger and deeper than I thought.  Good thing we got it out.  I'm gonna have a lovely little reminder for awhile.  Hopefully it won't leave much of a scar.

I'd better go.  We're leaving in just a few more minutes.  Love you all!

Vickie,

It's not just the Southern Baptists that have legalistic rules about alcohol.  My family attended some rigid Independent Baptist churches with the same rules.  My household rule has been no alcohol, because I am in recovery and don't want it in my house.  However, I've never had an issue visiting others who serve it at their homes.  I've never considered drinking alcohol a sin, except for myself, because I am in recovery and don't want to relapse.

Family is never easy.

Hugs,

Trish

Yeah, Trish, I know.  And if the family hosting the Christmas get-together doesn't allow alcohol in their home, that's fine with me.  I just thought it was pretty nervy of her to try and dictate what the rest of us can do in somebody else's home.  She's a very sweet person and she would give you every last cent that she had if you needed it.  I just think she's being a little silly about this sangria thing.  But like I said, this is not my family, it's Butch's family.  I just try not to rock the boat.

Good Morning OFF Family,

Trish, so glad you have help with your packing. Never easy moving, but it is a good move for you.

Vickie, too bad such a big deal was made about the wine. Sounds like your SIL could use a glass of wine. Keeping family on good terms is never easy.

Today I am off to lunch with my former boss.  He and I retired at the same time last year.  We still get together for Administrative Assistants Day, Bosses Day, birthdays (both in July) and Christmas.  I was truly blessed with such an understanding boss as my husband battled congestive heart failure for 10 years.

Praying that all experience God’s blessing and healing powers.

Hugs, Sandra

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Just a quick note: My brother had to take mom to the ER yesterday. She fell in the basement and broke her elbow. Today, he took her to see an ortho surgeon to see if she'll need surgery. Where she broke the elbow is above the radius, so she might need some pins to set it. He'll know more today. Poor Gary, he's had to be more nurse than he signed up for.

I went to a three-month reunion for the joint replacement patients from the hospital. Food left a lot to be desired. They ran out of salad, dressing, the meat wasn't the greatest, either. The dressing at the end was just French. You would think they would have had enough of everything. They asked for RSVPs, so you think they would have enough. Anyway, it was interesting to talk to people at least. I swear, half the people there were patients of this one doctor who was there.

Anyway, back to work today. We're having a potluck at work tonight. Hope the food's better.

Have a good day.

Sucks when you go to a RSVP dinner and there isn't enough food to go around....atleast you got to talk with others that had same surgery!

Hope your brother mentioned your moms pain problems and mamogram to ER people...Prayers for her and family!!
