Tuesday-I miss seeing the sun.

Good Morning Family,

We have had overcast, rainy skies for five solid days, and I miss the sun big time,  Right now it is raining heavily.  Argh!  At least on Sunday, I did not get soaked with all the walking I did in New York,  I just got a little damp by the end of the day,  Monday was overcast and unseasonably mild.  I loved not needing my winter coat,  All I needed was a sweater or sweatshirt when I went outside yesterday.

Today, I have a friend from AA coming to help me get a handle on my packing and cleaning.  I have exactly two weeks to get ready for hosting Christmas dinner, and a little more than that to get all packed, and ready to move.  Today my friend will help me get organized.  Tomorrow, two more friends from church are coming over to help me.

I am also making some applesauce.  I have some apples I am not going to be able to finish by my move, so I am making some homemade applesauce.  Hopefully, it will be okay.  The apples seem fine.

I hope everyone has a nice day.  I appreciate each and everyone of you.

Hugs and love,,Trish

Oh Trish my heart goes out for U getting ready to move! I am putting my house on a diet so down the road I can move when I find the right spot!

Today has me taking some bags to the consignment shop that belonged to my sister in law. They r bottarga bags and sell for about 300.00 a piece on eBay so I'm going to see what I can consign them for. The pawn shop wouldn't give me the time of day go figure and I don't want to deal with ebay!

My cousin Who is 63 is graduating with a degree in psychology and gerontology on Sunday. she also is a RN.  We r having a big party for her! I was surprised she went back to school at her age but she did it!

Well that's all what's going on with me!  Starting to pack y little car, Thinking about what to take up north!

More later, Carla

Hello Trish, Carla, Judy and Connie!

Gee our numbers are dwindling, aren't they?  Maybe people will come back after Jan 1st.

So today I have a dilemma and I want your opinions.  I have to give you a bit of back story first.  Every year Butch's family gets together on New Years to celebrate Poe Family Christmas.  There are six siblings, so each year, one sibling (or wife) gets to pick the food theme for that year's gathering.

Well, this year it was my turn again and I choose the theme 6 Flags Over Texas.  I thought each sibling and their respective offspring could take a country and bring food, drink, desserts, whatever, from that cuisine.  Everyone seemed to like the idea at first.

I took Spain as our country, since it was one of the hardest ones.  Tex Mex is easy.  True Spanish cuisine is not common here.  My mistake was in posting on a family email recently that I am bringing Sangria to the party.

I had planned to make 3 kinds of Sangria: red wine, white wine, and mock sangria for the kiddos.  Now one of Butch's sisters (NOT the one hosting the party, I might add) has written to me and asked me not to bring any alcohol to the party because she doesn't want her grandchildren exposed to drinking.  OMG.  Really?

I hardly think one glass of wine for the grownups who wish to have it is going to turn our family Christmas party into a drunken brawl.  I seriously doubt the grandkids would even notice it unless someone makes a big deal out of it.  But the thing is, this sister in law is NOT the hostess of the party.  If we were having the party at her house, I wouldn't even consider bringing wine there, knowing how they feel about it.  I would certainly respect the rules of her house.

But the sister-in-law who IS hosting the party loves wine and serves it all the time.  Am I out of line here?  I don't think the guests should dictate what can and cannot be served at someone else's house.  I have written the hostess and explained the situation to her, and I'm waiting to hear back.  I feel like this is a tempest in a teapot, but I don't want to be the cause of hard feelings either.

Really, am I out of line?  I would value your opinions.

On another note, my surgical incision is causing me a bit of soreness today.  Last night I had a dream that Butch was with me and he kept rubbing my arm and making it hurt.  I woke up and it was 3 a.m., and yes, my arm was hurting!  LOL!  I got up and took a tramadol and went back to sleep.  Poor Butchie.  I was so mad at him in my dream and he wasn't even there!  LOL!

Love you all!

I agree, take the wine. Like the kids never have seen anyone drink alcohol before ... anywhere? Give me a break! You can't isolate your kids from every thing in the world.

Vickie...I would say take the wine. If it is her house then I guess I would  not. I hope your SIL says bring it!! Kids need to be aware that at some occasions adults do drink. A glass of wine with your meal is okay. That other SIL is doing more harm to her kids then good!

Vickie take the wine for goodness sake. Children need to be exposed to adults drinking/socializing like big people. It's the adults who need to drink responsible and not get drunk. Children need to know it's okay for adults to drink but not them until they are of a legal age. This is called exposing your children to real life. I bet they see a lot more on TV. Some one needs to take a chill pill!!!!
