Happy Wednesday

Gee it's nearly 11 a.m. and there's no post yet? Where is everyone?

Not much happening here. I slept really well last night and my legs are not swollen today. Well, at least not now. Landlord was pounding on my door at 9 a.m. and got me out of bed ... I was awake, just snuggling with Juliette. He just had a couple of questions.

Talked with my brother last night. He had to take my mom back to the doctor. She has a fungal infection under her boobs. He still can't convince her to have a mammogram. He says she's let her appearance go ... doesn't get dressed, fix her hair or anything. That tells me she's not feeling well.

Hope everyone is doing well. I go back to work tonight. Have a good day.

Judy:

My brother seems to think she may have a recurrence of her breast cancer. The pain she has is on the same side. She keeps putting off having her mammo done "until she feels better." Well, that's not going to make her any better. Gary says if she has a recurrence, she probably should just get palliative care (that is, something to ease her pain) rather than chemo or radiation ... she is 88, after all, and having chemo is just going to make her feel worse for the last years of her life. Right now, we need to make her feel better ... she doesn't understand what's going on anymore ... she can't even balance her check book (OK, I can't do that either ... never was good at math ... but mom always could).

Well maybe he should ask her to go for a "ride" and then take her to the dr for a check up and see what happens....I understand about the not wanting to put her through chemo and radiation at her age....HUGS

Hi Eileen and Judy and all my OFF sistas!

I was on earlier and saw there was no thread started for today, but didn't have time to post right then.  Eileen, I'm glad you started us off.  I'm sorry to hear about your mom.  That can't be easy for either you or your brother.  Does sound like she needs to see a doctor ASAP, but I know what you mean about trying to convince her.  My mom is 83 and she is as stubborn as a mule about some things.

Judy, I'm glad you're having a better day today.  Yesterday sounded like a real zoo at your job.  I had two expressions that I used to use when I worked at the Ag Dept at the college.  One was, "This place is a zoo!" and the other was "This place is for the birds!"  In fact, I cross-stitched a sample with the second saying and hung it over my desk!

I had a huge day shopping yesterday and I guess I'm paying the price for it today.  I just feel exhausted.  Stayed in bed until 10 a.m.  Got to pick Benny up at 2 p.m.  Just dreading the long afternoon and evening chasing after him.  For two cents I'd pile right back into bed and stay there all day.

The carpenter from Nacogdoches called with an estimate of what it will take to fix the staircase banister.  He quoted me a price of anywhere from $600 to $1000.  Really?  Really?  I'm kind of over a barrel here.  It's just 2 weeks to closing, so I told him to go ahead but to please do the job as economically as possible.  I'm having nightmares about this deal falling through.  So if I have to spend $1000 to keep the buyers happy and the deal on track, I guess that's what I have to do.  I sure do wish my husband was here.  I just don't like dealing with men!  I always feel like they're taking advantage of me.

Well, enough of my complaining.  Things can always be worse.  Nancy B, I didn't get to comment yesterday, but my heart broke a little when you told the story of your breast cancer support group.  So many women succumb to that disease.  I'm very proud of the way you battle every day.  Your positive attitude makes all the difference, I'm sure.

I need to go get a few things done before my little Tasmanian devil comes home.  He whirrs and spins his way through this house leaving a little path of chaos and destruction in his wake!  Yesterday he got very quiet and interested in peeling all the paper off of his crayons.  Looked like colored snow on the living room floor!  Oh, the price I am willing to pay for a few moments of peace and quiet!  LOL!

Love you all!

Vickie, I know what you mean about feeling exhausted. I did so much over the weekend and Monday (did a lot of unpacking Monday, then waiting for the cable guy who couldn't hook me up) that my legs were so swollen. So Tuesday, I wanted to do more stuff around the apartment, but was just too tired. I took a nap in the afternoon and didn't get much done at all. .. although I did get the cable, Internet and phone hooked up at least.

Today, my legs aren't swollen at all but I really needed to get more done around the apartment.

As for the moms ... yeah, mom tells me to do my exercises, but she does nothing but sit in her chair all day. And now she doesn't even get dressed and barely washes. She's 88 and is doing nothing at all.

Good afternoon Eileen and everyone......

Eileen ........I am sorry to hear about your mother. I will say  prayers for her.

Vickie....hope you can find something for Benny to do that keeps his attention today. Rest when you can.....HUGS.

Judy.....have fun spending their money!!!

I am doing okay. Wrote out Christmas cards to my daughters, their spouses, and grandchildren last night. I am just giving them some money as don't have the energy to shop. They can buy what they want. My daughter, Jamie will shop for Grace. No Christmas spirit here. My sister doesn't care. Her, her kids, and grandchildren don't do Christmas gifts of any kind. No baking either.

Wishing you all a good day!!  Prayers for so many in need.

Love and hugs to all........connie d

Greetings Eileen and OFF Family,

Sorry to hear about your Mom, Eileen.  I'd be concerned, as you are.

I made many attempts to get onto this thread, and my computer, or OH, wouldn't let me get in.

I went to my AA meeting this morning.  Then, baked a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and didn't eat one of them.  They are now in the freezer, along with the peanut butter cup cookies I baked last night.  They are peanut butter cookies that I don't press down before baking, and then press a small peanut butter cup into them as soon as they come out of the oven, while still hot.  My daughter makes them in mini-muffin pans, but I don't own them yet.

Anyway, I just got home from the store, where I got a smaller tablecloth for the second table on Christmas day, along with some candle holders and candles, as well as pants hangers, and regular hangers.

Then, I had to schedule a CT scan of my sinuses.  I have another sinus infection.  My ENT doc has added two meds to the three I was already taking, and I still got a sinus infection.  I pray I find an ENT doc as good as this one, when I move to Michigan.

Now, I'm stuck in my rocking chair with Utley asleep on my legs on the ottoman.  I guess I need a break from my busyness.

Have a good day.

Hugs,

Trish
