It's Tuesday already! How are YOU doing?

Happy Tuesday, OFF Family!

The sun was shining brightly yesterday but it looks like we are headed for more rain again today…at least it isn’t WHITE!   It is supposed to get colder thru the week. Our younger son, Derek, has already done night-time salting for all of the shopping plazas due to severe “blac****” the other day but that is no longer an issue today.

Last year, he made only one third of his usually winter show-plowing income and times are tight for him now. For HIS sake, I hope we get a more “normal winter”, but I have to admit that I dread winter driving on these back country roads.

Today is a “stay-at-home” day. I intend to make a few batches of muffins for JB and to freeze. As president of Business & Professional Women’s Club of Niagara,  part of an international advocacy organization, I am up to my eyeballs researching while preparing a “commendation” to be presented at the next Provincial Conference…our club’s commendations are to honour two females who deserve recognition for their courage and determination to stand for a just cause despite personal danger.  These commendations require months of research and statistics from many sources and can be very tedious to track down. However, last night I was deep in several articles that described social and education issues for females in such places as Pakistan.  Women there are so vulnerable to such horrific physical & mental abuse, such as female circumcision, Sharia Law, inequity in education, economy, employment, medical care and frequently battered and killed or permanently disfigured by spousal & familial abuse.  As much as I tried to avoid the details, I had to read alot of it to find the stats that I needed to support my commendation.

Enough of that…I am so grateful to be able to stay home today, so I can stop when I feel the need. In a few days, I will get the results from my second set of blood work and find out why my white blood cell count is so extremely low and what needs to be done next. The new sleeping pills do seem to help IF I take TWO of them so I will also have to check with the doctor to make sure that taking two pills is safe so I can sleep. If so, he will need to change the prescription from taking ONE each night to take TWO each night or my medical insurance will not pay for my pills at all.  Today I also have five pages of paperwork to fill out regarding my pain meds that he prescribed for Tylenol 3’s..since it is an opiate, the laws are now changed that everything is reported and my intake of Tylenol 3’s are all documented…sheesh!  So far, I have been resisting using them in order to “save” that for when or  IF I ever am suffering intensely instead. At this point, the pain has settled down somewhat – I am not is abject misery anymore *s* and the hot flashes have either decreased or I am used to them now…all good!

I got an email from a lady who was, with me and 23 other ladies, founding members of our local Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group twenty one years ago when I had it the first time.  Now, out of the 25 of us, there are five left..the others have ALL passed away with breast cancer recurrences.  And of the last five of us, three have it again. We are arranging a reunion after New Year’s.

On a more positive note, our Empowered Women event for next summer is really taking shape and we are so excited…not a day goes by without getting another step forward.

So a quiet, productive day for me …oh yes, our NEW internet service is supposed to be installed today…YAYYY! It will be so nice to open an email without having to wait for five minutes for the windows to slowly open or freeze up yet again, then have to reboot.

I am sending many hugs and prayers and much positive energy to all who wish them. Savour every day like it’s your last.  Don’t relive your past or worry about the future…cherish TODAY, that’s why it’s called the PRESENT..it’s a GIFT! *s*

Good Morning Nancy and Family,

Wow Nancy.  You are doing things for such worthy causes.  I am always interested in the things you are doing, especially the work for the commendations regarding women in Pakistan.  Such a worthy cause.  Glad you are not in as much pain as you had been.  Hope the doc can give you the script for the increased sleeping med.  You always amaze me with all you manage to do in a day.  So sorry to hear about the women in your support group.  I am always praying for you.

Today, I must get my butt to an AA meeting.  I missed my weekend meetings because my youngest was here on Saturday, and I wasn't feeling so well on Sunday.  Then, I have tons to do in the basement.  I must get some headway on one side of it.

I hope this finds everyone doing well.  Connie, I keep you also in my daily prayers.  Hugs to you.

Hugs and tons of love,

Trish

Good morning Nancy and everyone....

Nancy.....sorry your son's business is slow but we are so grateful for this mild winter. The commendations you are researching are such good choices. It must be very hard to have to read about some of the things that happen to these people. It breaks my heart. So sorry for all the loses in your support group. Glad the remaining few are getting together soon. God Bless you all!

Trish....thanks for thinking of me. The prayers are appreciated.

Wishing you all a beautiful day. Prayers for many in need.

Love and hugs to all....connie d

Hi Nancy and my OFF family:

I am finally reconnected to the world. Boy, it was difficult. Seems the cable company I wanted to get couldn't install here for some reason. But they didn't tell me that over the phone ... they took my money quickly enough but now it's 72 hours before I'll get a refund. I ended up having to call the other cable company I already had to install today ... I got their last appointment, 8-noon. Had to cancel my PT appointment ... the guy wound up getting here before 10 a.m. and finishing up before 10. He was great ... did everything very professionally, unlike the two jerks yesterday, who kept leaving the door open (and I had to close it with the cat in the house, because I was afraid she would get out).

So I now have cable, Internet and phone again. Don't feel so cut off. Do feel very sleepy ... must be the weather ... it has been raining all day. In fact, I think I'll take a nap.

Bye.
