Help-Two week Pre-op Liquid Diet!

Marietta,

Along about the end of week one, I felt like I just could not choke down one more protein shake!  I called and my doctor said I could have one baked or roasted piece of chicken a day.  Oh, that really helped.  I had the shakes for breakfast and lunch, and then I roasted a chicken breast or thigh for supper.  Call and ask your doctor tomorrow morning if you can substitute one protein source day.

Also, it helped me to suck on a piece of beef jerky.  One piece can last a long, long time.  You can do this.  Just keep imagining your "fatty liver" getting slim and strong enough to withstand the surgery.

Keep posting!  We can all empathize.

Oh yeah, I noticed all the guy's livers were already looking my way.  My liver has got to be turning into the hottest, slimmest, shapeliest liver around.  They want me, oh yeah! :-)

LOL!  There you go!  That's the spirit!  You gotta be able to laugh about some of this stuff!

You have a lot fewer options than I did ... I could have protein bars on my pre-op diet, but had to keep within a certain amount of points (their calories) per day. But you can have just the protein drinks ... well, can you have sf jello or popsicles, or can you make sf popsicles out of crystal light? The hardest part for me was cutting out caffeine.

Regardless, hang in there ... this is two weeks ... you will have to do probably two weeks of liquids after your surgery. Then you probably won't want much anyway. I really didn't want anything for several months. Or at least not much of anything. Concentrate on what you want in the long run ... good health. You can do this.
