Monday Musings - How Goes YOUR Monday?
Hello, OFF Family!
It’s almost 3 am Monday morning and I’m awake again so I thought I might
as well post. My life is so quiet these days….I have so little to really
be interesting.
I am so devastated by Aime’s passing still…it seemed so abrupt
since I’d communicated with her just a week before and there
seemed no sign. I lost a cousin to cancer on the same day. And
this evening I called my sister-in-law who had a double
mastectomy two weeks ago. She has issues with breast
lymphodema like I did so we talked a while and she calmed down
more after asking me about my experiences with the lymphodema.
Then I got another call that friend’s husband died that morning.
Guess that comes with getting older.
Yesterday was so cold and blustery here…the lawns were white in
the morning. But I dressed warm and drove into the city because
FabricLand had a 50% off sale. Now I’m no seamstress but I
do love to wear shawls…I have a black wool shawl, a brilliant
“cardinal red” shawl, a purple shawl with a cascade of ruffles
and yet another purple one edged in purple feathers! So what
did I do but buy a metre (approx four feet) of black fleece to make
a new shawl because my old black one had gone “pilly” if you
understand what I mean. I have a simple pattern that maybe even
*I* can manage by hand.
Then I found some burgundy/white knitted fabric for another
shawl to match a special burgundy knit long skirt that I bought
long ago and never did find a good top to match. Add to that,
thread, elastic for new waistbands and a stunning piece of black
silky cord with black “fur”balls to accent the neck of the black
fleece shawl. Then I was OUTA THERE! before I found more!
I cannot sew …let me re-word that…I do not have the PATIENCE
to sew…but I LOVE to match outfits and gather fabric. JB
says it’s a sickness. I say it’s just the “fashionista in me.
I’m cold..time for a cup of hot homemade beef, vegetable &
barley soup then up to bed with my wooly sox and extra blankets.
My body never did readjust internal body temps. I even wear furry
sox to bed in summertime.
I send many prayers to all who wish them, positive thoughts and
energy where needed. I hear the coyotes howling ourside!

Good Morning Nancy and OFF Family,
Nan, I love to shop for fabric and patterns. I have loads of then in crates in my basement, What's nice is that my daughter's house, I'm supposed to rent, has a spare bedroom. So, I will have a sewing room. I love to make dresses and stuff for my granddaughter.
Today, I am on a fact finding mission for my move to Michigan. I am having trouble calling Michigan's Department of Taxation. I keep getting caught in a menu.
Later, I have my volunteer work. Then, tonight, I have an AA meeting.
Hugs and love,
Trish

Trish....I keep praying everything with your move will fall into place. It sounds like a perfect place for you!
Isn't it fun to sew for little girls. I remember doing so much of that when my girls were little. The most fun was making all the Halloween costumes. My daughters have even kept some of them!
Love ya.....hugs....connie d
Good morning Nancy and Trish and all my OFF sistas to come!
Nancy, I beg to differ--I think your posts are ALWAYS interesting! You squeeze the most out of a "quiet life" for sure!
Trish, good luck with your move preps! I'm so excited for you. One of the things I gave up with this move is my sewing room. I did bring my machine with me, but my lovely sewing cabinet and cutting table that Butch made me are in the storage building, 6 hours away from here. Waaah!
I, too, love fabric and patterns and all of that lovely addictive stuff! I could spend hours in a fabric store. Wish I had a little granddaughter to sew for. I love to make sweet baby things and little frilly things. I would like to sew for Benny, but Christie is such a clothes snob. She eschews anything "homemade" by Mimi.
Well, we had fun last night. I got the tree up and we let Benny decorate it. He is so excited about the "twee"! I have a bunch of little dollies that I made years and years ago. Little stuffed gingerbread men, angels, Santas, teddy bears, etc. Benny had a ball hanging them around on the tree--then re-hanging them--then re-hanging them--then re-hanging them . . . You get the idea! That's all the ornaments we're putting on the tree this year. It's toddler proof! LOL!
This week at preschool the theme is gingerbread, so I made some gingerbread cookies for Benny to take to share this morning. I didn't make gingerbread men, although I wanted to. But I can't find my cookie cutters. So I just made round cookies, but I sprinkled them with sugar crystals. They turned out real pretty. I did pretty good with my self-control. I didn't eat the dough (I had cheese and triscuits on a plate beside the mixing bowl!), but I did eat two cookies last night. One warm from the oven--I mean, c'mon, who can resist a warm fresh cookie! Then I had one more before bedtime. But that's it. I sent the rest to school with Benny.
So much to do today. I'd better get going. Got to pick Benny up at 2 p.m., and then I'm sure I'll be occupied for the rest of the day with rearranging the "twee"!
Love you all!
Morning OFF family!
Well I can barely move this morning...my back is killing me. It hasn't hurt like this for a very long time. 2 pain pills and still no relief.
Thanksgiving dinner was a success. Thank the good Lord for my daughter Krissy, Kim (her best friend) and my nephew David for doing all the dishes.
Yesterday Krissy and I went to see Twilight and then went out to lunch. We had a great time.
Thoughts and prayers for all,
Debbie
