Happy Black Friday! No Shopping here
Hi my OFF family:
Anyone out shopping? I stay away from stores on this day, other than stops at Walgreens or CVS, places that aren't busy. I hate crowds. If I was to do shopping, it would be online. But right now I have to save my money for the move.
I have to call the guy my cleaning lady/helper recommended. He seems reasonable and she said he did a very good job for her. Got to do that later today before I go into work. Plus do some packing.
I thought we had early deadlines Thursday into Friday ... 2 to 10 p.m. I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do, so I got in a little after 2 p.m. ... no one was there. Checked the schedule on the board ... still said 2 to 10 p.m., but said I was on local late (which usually means coming in at 3 p.m. ... used to mean a half hour later, now it's an hour later). Guy in charge said they made the decision earlier in the week ... I asked why didn't they call me? He apologized and said someone should have but even so, if I had come in at 3 p.m., that wouldn't be the late schedule for a normal deadline. Anyway, I was miffed, to say the least.
We did have a nice turkey buffet prepared by our photo editor and his wife. Turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes ( don't like mashed potatoes, so skipped those), two kinds of cranberry sauce, white and wheat rolls, green beans, and pumpkin and pecan pies. It was very good, although by the time I got done with it, the meal was cold, because I ate very slowly. Pecan pie was yummy, too. Haven't had that for awhile.
So I got home early anyway. Getting tired and will head to bed soon. We are worried in my family about my mom; she isn't doing well, she's not eating and my brother thinks the pain is on the same side as her breast cancer. He is going to insist her doctor get her a mammogram. She is due for one anyway. She didn't go to dinner Thursday, staying home instead because she was afraid she'd fall. My oldest brother Ed told her if she was at dinner with the family and she fell, there'd be a lot of people to help her. If she was home alone, no one would be there. She said, "Whatever," which is what she says when she doesn't hear or understand you; then hung up. Mom is 88, but I think she is scared of what the doctor will discover.
Well, I need to get to bed . Hope if you are shopping you are courteous and still get the deals for which you are searching. I'm just buying gift cards just in case I can't go home.
Have a good day. I'll check in later.

Good morning Eileen and OFF family.
Here at work just kicking along. It was a short night for me but I did get some excellent sleep.
I too am NOT a Black Friday shopper, I hate crowds and lines. Ugh! Working the 3-11 shift I can do my shopping during the week days and not deal with crowds.
Maybe hubby and I will go see a movie today when I get out of work at 3pm. Since a lot of people have said Lincoln was really good I think I'll go check out old Abe! We have the same birthday.'
Hugs and prayers for all in need. Debbie

Liz is getting money for a portable dishwasher she wants and she ca use the credit card she has of mine.
Good Morning Eileen and OFF Family,
I am just getting moving after a long, long day with family. Dinner was lovely, and I ate way too much. Gotta take the boys for a walk later. It's supposed to be nice later. I'll get Sean and Rachel to walk Shuka while I walk Utley.
I do plan on going to one craft store today. There's a project I want to make for my grandson, Frankie. For my grandchildren's first Christmas, I make a magnetic train with the letters in their name for each car. It's small and wooden, I paint each car in alternating colors, which coordinate with the colors in their bedrooms. AC Moore has a 40% of entire purchase coupon in yesterday's ads, and that is the only store that sells that kind of wooden letters, I can save $5 on the train, so I'll venture there this morning.
I hope everyone has a safe weekend.
Love and hugs,

Good morning Eileen and everyone.....
Eileen....I never shop when there are crowds!! I hurt enough the way it is I don't need to get knocked around!! Sorry you had to work on Thanksgiving. It sounds like you had a wonderful buffet and enjoyed it....YUM!! That was really nice of them to provide that for those of you that had to work.
It sounds like everyone that posted had a great Thanksgiving too!! I had a wonderful time at my daughter's! I always love being with her and my grandchildren. I made sure that I spent time with them all individually so they could talk about what ever they wanted. They always seem to share more with me then anyone. So many hugs and so much love!!! I have wonderful grandchildren!
The dinner was awesome as were all the people there. It was such a fun day!!
The drive home ended up being wicked! About a 1/2 hour from my daughter's I ran into some bad weather. The roads were icy and snowy. There were so many cars in the ditches. It was scary at times. The closer I got to home the worse it got! There were times I couldn't go more them 35 miles an hour on the freeway. You couldn't see where the lanes were. The roads were even icier in St Cloud. I felt like I was driving on a skating rink!! About a mile from home I saw a really bad accident. The trip home usually takes about an 1.5 hours . It was closer to 2.5 almost 3. I just kept praying and I made it home safely.
I am staying home today. Nothing at all planned and I want to keep it that way!!
My friend Pam may be going home from the hospital later today. I keep praying for her!! I talked to her a couple times yesterday. She seemed to be doing better. I pray she continues to get healthier as the days go by.
I wish you all a beautiful and restful day today!! Prayers for many in need.
Love and Hugs
to all.....connie d
Hi Connie:
I have friends in St. Cloud ... they're on the cat forum I frequent ... the one guy is from Texas and just moved there. He was out shoveling snow last night in his PJs ... we were all laughing about that. I wondered how you were doing ... forgot about you traveling.
We are having wonderful fall weather here. It's 50, which is cooler than yesterday when it was in the 60s. But still beautiful. Kinda windy today.
We don't do much gift giving in my family any more. We did do a grab bag for the adults, but now are thinking of ending that. We give to the kids and that's it. And people we want to give to. I exchange with my brother Gary, although I've told him if he doesn't get me anything, that's fine, I know he doesn't have the money. Although I love getting gifts, it's only things. People are what really matter.
Eileen,
At Christmas, my family does a Pollyanna exchange for the extended family members. All the names go into a hat, and we pull names on Thanksgiving. This year, my son's in-laws are joining my family for the exchange. With our immediate families, we do a gift exchange privately. I buy for my children and grandchildren. They buy for each other. This year, I told them the most precious thing I could get is time with them. In the Pollyanna exchange, we have to make sure that immediate family members don't get one another, as they're already buying for them. Mom doesn't do the Pollyanna, as she is the matriarch of the family, and she gives everyone money. So everyone buys for her. With the Pollyanna, we set a reasonable price limit we all agree on Thanksgiving day.
I hope what I wrote makes sense.
Hugs,
Trish
