Aloha Tuesday!!

Aloha and good early Tues. morning from your sister in Hawaii!!

I can't believe I am starting the thread.......usually when I get up, you are all having lunch!! Ha.

Actually I woke up a little while ago, and since it IS Tues (by 20 minutes!) I decided I'd pop on here and wish you all a Happy Tues.

This is my Saturday/Sunday.......which means that I worked for the past three days and now have three off!! Since I don't post as often as I used to, for those who aren't familiar with my story......my "work" involves newborn babies. I test their hearing. It is a part time job which I LOVE!! Yesterday I had 7 babies to screen...that is pretty average. For this little island (Maui) that always seems like a lot of babies!! I never cease to be delighted by all these little ones........all sizes, shapes and colors!! In a day I might have a 4.6lb. and a 10.8 lb. baby!!

It is rather nice to be up in the middlle of the night!! My two kitties (Poki and Nicki) are very confused. I'm not where I'm supposed to be at this time of the night!! Makes me laugh. They wander in and look at me like "Hey, what's up!"

Poki is usually my alarm clock! She KNOWS when it's 5:00 a.m.!! I feel the little pat-pat-pat on my cheek in bed and I try and ignore her but she will not have that!! If I pretend to be asleep she works her way onto my chest, and shifts into high gear!! Only problem is that she doesn't know the difference between the days when I have to work and those that I don't!! Sigh

I guess I should go back to bed. Nice to have you all to visit with in the middle of the night. Hope your Tuesday is a good one.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good morning Karen. I couldn't sleep last night . Was up until 1:00 am & then slept on & off in my chair

until 6:00. It is now 6:25. We are getting ready for company this weekend. I did up 2 pumpkins out of our garden yesterday for pie & cookies. Boy are they good. I know what you mean about being woke up by "babies". We have 4 ShihTzu's & they do the same as your cats.We ended up getting a king size bed so we all fit! I envy your work with the babies. My youngest grand is 8. My oldest is driving now. Time really goes by fast.

Have a wonderful day all. Nan

I am finally up...it's 8:00 a.m. and I did go back to sleep....thankfully.

It is rather amazing to me to think that 60 is "YOUNG" to me!! Ha.

Remember when we thought 30 was old???

My haircolor is unknown! I have colored it for years......and I'm guessing it would be white if I let it go natural.

Aloha, Maui Karen and my OFF family:

Getting on here late today...

I just got my hair cut and colored today ... it is naturally blond but now comes in dark blond, or dishwater blond as it was called. So it looks a little more of my natural color. Maybe could be a little lighter, but at least it's not as shaggy as it was. My bangs were down to my nose. I couldn't see, even when I brushed them to the side they kept falling back down. It was a good deal ... the girl at BoRics only charged me $50 for the whole deal. I was pleased ... it's about what it cost me in Louisiana at my little shop that I went to.

Then I made my turkey dinner ... wings, stuffing. I usually add green bean casserole but don't want to make a big one for just me. So no veggies. This filled me up plenty. Half a wing, some stuffing with jarred gravy ... and I'm full. Now I'm savoring a glass of blackberry wine. I haven't had any alcohol for seven weeks. No pain pill today.

Have a good day.

Aloha Karen and my OFF Sisters,

So nice to see you, Karen.  It's always a joy to hear from you.  Neat that you mention a baby weighing 10 lb. 8 oz.  My sons weighed that much at birth, and I delivered both naturally.  My older grandson was 9 lb. 6 oz at birth.  I love all babies, but was a proud Momma with the bigger two.  Plus, they were easier to carry around.

Well, I started having panic attacks on Monday.  It's kind of like this.  I can't move until I talk to the insurance company and know what kind of accident settlement I'll get.  My daughter wants me to give her an answer next week.  Plus, she wants me to talk to someone about my finances before making the decision.  That appointment is next week.  Problem?  Lady at the insurance company might now have an answer till the first week in December.  My daughter's rental house is sitting empty until I move in.  And they're paying a mortgage payment on it.  Trusting God is hard stuff.

Today I'll be blitzing my bedroom closets, dresser and under the bed.  I have a ton of stuff stored in one closet I rarely use.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Hugs,

Trish

Aloha Trish.......You had BIG BABIES!! My three grandsons were big, too.....all over 9 lbs. and my DIL is teeny tiny 5'0".......and she, too, delivered them the old fashioned way. Ouch!! My son is 6' 4"......."nuff said."

So sorry you are having panic attacks. Those are horrible!! You are making HUGE decisions right now.....give yourself time to feel the next right move.

You are doing a good thing in cleaning out your house. I need to do the same thing. I still have 3X size clothes in my closet.........yikes! I guess it's good to remind me of how I used to be.......but it's time they go to Goodwill!! I still can't believe I can look at SMALL when shopping!! Where did the rest of me go???? LOL

Take care of yourself!!

Good morning Karen, Nan, and Trish!  And all my OFF sistas to come later!

Karen, so happy you started us off this morning.  Nan, better to have white hair than no hair, right?  Trish, still praying for a swift and easy resolution for you.

I am still unpacking today.  And probably will be for the next several days.  But at least I'm not under the gun this time around.  I can do it at my leisure.  Today I plan to rent yet another storage building, this one down here at Canyon Lake.  We will move a bunch of Christie's boxes and stuff in there, as well as some of my stuff.  This little lake house is bursting at the seams right now.

Still haven't gotten my daily email from Butch today.  But I know he made it to the rig okay because I checked his hotmail and I can see where he's already read my email from this morning.  So I know he's safe.

Hey, am I the last one to discover Vitatops?  I've been reading about them on Hungry Girls posts, but yesterday was the first time I've seen them in store.  They only have 100 cals and load of fiber.  I bought a box of the cran bran (from the freezer section) and had one with some hot tea yesterday.  Delicious, and really good stats.  And I love muffins, but have been doing without them since surgery. I'm in a baking mood right now, but I don't dare start it.  I can't resist eating my own cooking!

We will be having a very small meal on Thanksgiving, since it will just be me, two daughters and the baby.  I bought a small turkey breast at the store.  I'll make turkey, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.  Oh, and I'm going to try a new recipe for butternut squash and sweet potato gnocchi.  I don't think I can handle candied yams--too much like dessert for me to resist.

Hope everyone who is travelling this week stays safe and has good weather for the long holiday weekend.  Anyone going shopping on Black Friday?  You won't catch me leaving the house!  I can't stand shopping in all that crush.  Besides, I'm still deciding on what to buy for everyone.  Carrie wants a new mattress set.  She has about 3/4's of the needed funds saved already.  I think I'll just chip in the rest.  I'm thinking about buying Butch a new recliner.  A bit of a splurge, but we ARE getting that big check on Dec 21st.    Don't know what Christie wants yet.  I'm going to buy my mom a DVD player.  So we'll see what I can do on-line and then we'll go shopping for the rest.

Well, my morning is flying by.  I'd better get off this computer and get some things done.

Love you all!

Aloha Vickie......I love your adventures!! Just reading about all that you do makes me tired.....ha. I think I've turned into a couch potato...ha. For years I loved doing social things......parties, holidays, trips with friends......all of those good things. Now, I am most comfortable being at home soaking up the beauty of the ocean, the turtles, the whales, the sunrises.

I have NEVER heard of Vitatops!! I will defintely check out our stores.

Our Thanksgiving will be a pot luck......several neighbors getting together with "mystery dishes"....! It is always fun and sometimes surprising....so how many desserts do we really need????

I don't know about your "pouch" but mine will signal when I've had ENOUGH!!

ALOHA NUI LOA,

KAREN
