Saturday Happenings-What's Up?

Good Morning Family,

Well, I have a ton of stuff to do in my basement today.  But, first things first.  I must get my butt to an AA meeting.  There's a fairly new clubhouse not far from here that has an 8:00 am meeting.  The atmosphere is a lot better than the clubhouse that is much closer to home.  Sometimes, I just need a meeting, without all the drama that goes with the closer clubhouse.

I am moving forward, as if I will be moving soon.  Worst comes to worst, I'll be cleaning up a lot of junk.  Best case:  I move close to my Munchkins.

Anyway, I keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers throughout the day, even if I don't reply to all of your posts.

Hugs,

Trish

Good morning Trish and all my OFF sistas to come!

Oh, hallelujah and praise the Lord!  We are back home at Hilltop this morning!  Yesterday was a true endurance test, but we finally made it home around 9:30 p.m. last night.  My house in Nacogdoches is completely cleaned out!  All that remains is for the cleaning fairy to come and do her thing next week and it will be all ready for the new folks to move in.  There's still some things left to do outside and in the outbuildings, but Juan is going to take care of most of that for us while Butch is gone for the next 4 weeks.  We will have a day and a half next month to finish up some final items before closing on Dec 21st.  Then we will get a nice big FAT check for our Christmas present this year!  Yippee!

We are trying to kick back a bit this morning and relax.  We have a lot of stuff on the trailer to unload this afternoon, but thankfully Carrie (oldest daughter) is here today to help us do that.  We are all going out to eat tonight to celebrate Butch's birthday.  He is very happy about it.  He loves his girls and Benny so much.  Then, sadly, tomorrow he flies back to Saudi, but at least he will be home for Christmas this year.  And hopefully he'll be home for every Christmas from now on.  Retirement, here we come!

I did a pretty fair job of backsliding over the past two weeks.  I ate and ate and ate.  First time I've been guilty of that since my surgery, and I am determined to put the brakes on, starting today.  My jeans are getting tight.  I hate that feeling.  I was just so very stressed by the move and all that packing.  It was awful, and I reverted to my old habits of self-soothing with food.  I even ate some chocolate candy--a thing I swore I wouldn't do.  But that's over now.  All I have to do this week is enjoy my time with my family.  And I plan to play with Benny and take long naps and just enjoy life again for awhile.

I felt so badly about leaving my mother yesterday.  Let me preface that statement by telling you all that I begged and begged her to come with us to Hilltop for this next month and spend all the holidays with us.  She just would not do it.  I won't go into all the details, but she can be very stubborn.  Still, when we said good-bye yesterday, she burst into tears and I felt like a wretch leaving her behind.  I asked her again to consider moving down here with us and she said she would think about it.  She IS coming for Christmas week, but she'll be spending Thanksgiving all alone, and it just kills me to think about it.  She is 83 years old and still independent, but I am her only family.  She needs to be here with me.

Well, I need to fix some breakfast for my family.  Benny wants BACON!  So cute!  He loves bacon.  A true Poe boy, for sure.

Love you all!

Hi Trish and my OFF family:

Everyone is on the move, it seems. Uneventful night at work ... my mind is muddled this week ... have made two errors already. Hope I can avoid more. Don't know what the problem is. I did better last week when I was so tired. This week my stamina has returned but my mind is mush.

Going to be a busy day and I have to get in earlier, by 2:30 or 3 p.m. Lots of college football and college basketball. I'll be so happy when I don't have to do sports all week (next week I have more varied duties as the other sports guy comes back from paternity leave).

It's nearly 60 now and sunny, but by the time I leave work, it's in the 30s, so I leave with my winter coat. I think I'll stop at Wendy's on the way into work and get some chili. I've had a taste for chili for a while but not the stuff to make it (nor the energy to do so) ... plus since I'm moving in a couple of weeks, I don't want to make a lot of stuff.

Well, have a good day.

Yeah, Judy, next month, just within Evansville. My lease was up and I don't like this complex. I found a place I like ... two bedrooms, w/d connections, big kitchen, ground floor, $550. Hope I get it. Hand surgeon owns the place and his manager just renovated it. It's gorgeous, all new cabinets, etc. It's a smaller complex, no pool or fitness center, but I never used them anyway.
