Election Day-Go Vote-What's Happening?
Good Morning Family,
For those of us in the U.S. it's here, Election Day. Regardless of political party, it's important to get out an participate in the process. People have died fighting for our rights.
Today, I will head down the block and vote. I will then contact my campaign coordinator and find out where he wants me to work.
I better get moving. I keep fallng asleep in the rocking chair. I haven't been feeling so well.
Be sure to get to the polls and vote, if you're in the U.S. .
Have a blessed day.
Hugs,
Trish

Morning Trish, OFFr's,
I went to my voting place today and the woman who checks the names and such, was chatting with everyone in front of me and then when I finally got there, she could not find my name. . . sent me to the other table and I was sure I was at the right one, so they checked and could not find me either, then they looked my address up on the map and said I was in the wrong place, but I insisted that I had looked at the paper that came to my house just to be sure nothing had changed and I was in the right place. . . so back to the first table and sure enough I WAS in the right place. . . seems miss chatty cathy missed it to begin with. Twenty minutes later I cast my vote and walked out the door and headed to work which is where I am right now. . .
Chatted with Eileen on Facebook last night and she said that some people were concerned about me, not having seen me post on here in a bit. . . well I'm just fine, where I live, nothing too much to report beyond some downed trees and neighboring towns were without power, but other than a couple of flickers and a power loss of 1 whole minute, my home sustained no damages from the hurricane. . . my son's Sea Isle City (shore) home, did well too, thankfully, just some minor water damage on the 2nd floor, his home is 2.5 blocks in from the bay and the ocean, the dock where he would go fishing with my grandson (2.5 blocks away) is gone and houses there damaged badly. . . my brother, my friend, Owen and my boyfriend, Tony were all without power for 5 and 6 days and the beach I used to frequent when I lived in NYC, Rockaway Beach, is gone. . . my heart aches for those people in Rockaway as many are poor people to begin with, as well as those in Staten Island, whoever thought this could happen. . . My office was main office (located in Northern NJ) was closed due to flooding, though the office space itself was not flooded the parking garages were and then there was no power to the building, so we had no ability to get on our systems, they had those of us in the outlying offices of Delaware (where I work), Texas and Maryland report to work as of last Wednesday so that were they to get up and running we could handle the work that required deadlines, it was not until Friday that our systems were up and running and our phone system in the main office are still not working correctly. Tony finally went to work yesterday, his office was totally flooded and uninhabitable now, 15,000 brand new cars were destroyed on the piers, some washed away; told me about these 100 electric cars, that due to the flooding went on fire and burned down to their tires, those cars alone were worth 1.25 million dollars. They are able to unload ships, but don't have the equipment right now to load anything onto the ships, everything needs to be replaced. . . another friend of mine's family home in Brigantine, NJ sustained major flood waters, there was 4 to 5 feet of water, all their father's personal journals, awards and family photos destroyed, not to mention the furnishings and other items, the lower part of the house will have to be gutted and their 82 year old Mom is in Europe right now, so she does not even know what she is exactly coming home to. . . these are just some of the stories I know of personally. While many places like Florida and the Gulf states have experienced such tragedy before, we here in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast region are used to snow storms and that sort of thing, but this was something, while it has been spoken of as a possibility, I don't think anyone really imagined the reality of it all. . .I also believe that the news media plays a part in all of this, as they so sensationalize things, that it is like the story about the boy who cried wolf. . . no one pays enough attention to their ramblings, I, myself, thought oh here we go again, until on Thursday the week before the storm, we were supposed to have a sunny day and I thought it odd that they had it so wrong, so I went home and looked at the weather channel and saw the storm on the radar and though, hmmm, this looks like the real deal and I made sure I had everything I could in order. Halloween was rescheduled and we had it in my town last night, so because of the whole confusion of things, I have tons of candy leftover. I'll drop it off somewhere for the troops. . .so there you have my Storm story.
We are now gearing up for a Nor'easter, so travel tomorrow should be fun.
I am behind on all your lives, but want to say I think of you whether I am on here or not, you have all meant so much to me over the past 5 years and I hope that Nan, Nancy, Connie, and all the others who have challenging situations are doing well, you are all in my thoughts and positive prayers list!
Hugs, Laureen

Hi Trish, Laureen, Nan and my OFF family:
Glad to see Laureen posting; I told her we were all worried about her. My friend Karen who just moved to the Jersey shore area to work at a humane society started work yesterday; she said it was busy and cold there. Some friends of hers put her and her pets up at a hotel because she has no heat or power. What a way to start a new job, huh? She has been put through the wringer this year. My SIL's daughter and her family made it out of N.J. (near NYC) and to my brother and SIL's home in the Chicago suburbs ... they had had no power or heat and have two little girls, so decided to spend time with Grandma and Oma (no sure of the spelling, but it's Dutch for Grandma ... it's what they call SIL's mother). The devastation is horrible.
I have PT this morning, then I'm going to look at an apartment, then going to vote. I go back to work this evening ... not sure what I'm scheduled to do or when I'm supposed to be in because my boss never called me back. So I'll go in at 4 and hope it's the right time.
I had a touch of something yesterday, some IBS flare or something ... I suspect it came from taking the antibiotics I have to take before dental work. So I took a probiotic last night and will try to remember to start taking them again. Seems my tummy is off or something.
Well, I need to get dressed and off to PT. After I shower, I have to ice my knee down so it recovers from the heat of the shower, so I decided to get online while I iced.
Have a good day. Get out and vote if you haven't already. Doesn't matter who you vote for, just that you do it. It's your duty.

I am going out to VOTE soon. Then I see my pulmonary doctor this afternoon. I have a package to mail for a friend that had a baby a month ago. I am so behind on everything. That is just not me. I am always way ahead!!
I hope some of our other OFF sisters start posting again soon!!!

to all.....connie d
Connie, hope you start feeling better. Thanks for the good wishes. I am doing better every day. I got to 117 degrees of flexion at PT today. I can do my heel slides without the belt. Yes, I'm in pain sometimes, but less and less each day.
I thought I was going back to work today, but when I reached my deputy supervisor Mike, he said I was scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday. Oh well .... so I don't start til tomorrow. Probably for the best ... I got done with PT, went to look at the apartment, but it was already gone. Then I went to vote. There was a long line, a 35 to 40 minute wait. I was frantic ... I knew I couldn't stand that long. This nice young lady offered to keep my place in line while I sat. I was fortunate. They have computers ... 25 booths. The line moved fairly quickly at least. But my knee does hurt a lot.
Have a good day, Connie.
