Thursday What's New With You?
Good Morning OFF,
Thank you so much for your prayers and love during my power outage. My apartment got down to 60 degrees before my power came back on. My sister stayed here last night. Her power came back on very late, and she had no heat till it came on. Her dogs and Utley are so funny together.
Today is my birthday, and the best present was not having any serious damage from the storm and getting my power back.
I have some bills to pay today. I'm grateful for the power being back on, and not having lost anything of value in my fridge. I pitched a few things, but nothing very valuable.
Have a blessed day.
Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish and my OFF family:
Happy birthday, Trish! Glad your power is back on and you didn't have much damage. I have lived through three days without power during the summer ... it was 95 degrees and I had to throw out everything in my fridge, and I had just filled up the freezer with frozen dinners. I was so mad. The weekend my niece got married in March 1999, when I was up from Georgia, there was a bad storm in the Chicago area and my mom's power was out. We almost went to a motel, but then the power went back on just about dinner time. It was a little chilly in there, but not all that bad ... just put on some extra clothes and blankets and we were fine.
Getting 60 percent of my pay is the pits. Don't know how I will make ends meet. I hope to get back to work next week because I need to get the money back to 100 percent. My doc was supposed to fax a letter stating I could return to work with restrictions (elevate my leg, walk around occasionally). And besides, I'm getting bored.
I have PT today and then have to go to the bank, get money to pay a bill. Then I'm back home. Plus I have to get some cat food. This is really important. I'm down to the bottom of the cat food container. Juliette will not like that. I'm just glad I was able to stretch it out until this week.
Carla, hope you can straighten out your doctor's appointment.
It is supposed to warm up here a bit today, back up to the high 50s. Not there yet. Have a good day.
Good morning my OFF sistas!
Trish, I am glad to hear your news. Power outages are the pits and yes, they are SO depressing! I'm thankful that you got your power restored so quickly. Now if we could just hear from Laureen, too, today. I'm a little worried about her.
Carla, you need to try and take it easy today. You push yourself going backwards and forwards! Maybe you could just relax today? Nah, not happenin'! LOL!
Eileen, I know you are bored. But you're making good progress with your PT, sounds like. You had a really major surgery. I think you're doing the best you can with your recovery. I'm impressed.
We had a really wonderful Halloween evening with Benny last night. New pics are up on FB of my little dragon boy. We went to a big church in New Braunfels and boy, did they ever put on a carnival or what! We couldn't believe all the people there and all the activities. Benny had a ball. Then we went out to eat Mexican food afterwards. The only hitch in the whole evening was it was so bloomin' HOT! Whew! Benny was sweating in his fleece dragon outfit, so we just took it off of him. It was the warmest Halloween I can ever remember.
This afternoon they are delivering our new refrigerators. Hurray! I don't know how much longer I can hold my cold stuff in the ice chests. All of my meats in the freezer have thawed out, although they are still chilled. I guess I can refreeze them. In the meantime, I am packing us up for our trip back to Nacogdoches tomorrow. Busy day.
I started the Thankfulness Game again on another thread. I don't know if you'll remember I did this last year too. I try to list one thing I'm thankful for each day between now and Thanksgiving. I hope you'll each add something to the list everyday, too. It's good to remember and count our many blessings. Yeah, there's always bad stuff happening, but at least once a year we should focus on the positive side of things.
Love you all!
Good Afternoon OFF,
Trish, Happy Birthday!!! Getting your power back was a great gift!
Carla, the medical system IS crazy and getting worse. Hope you get things straightened out with your doctor.
Eileen, glad to hear you will be getting back to work soon. What type of knee surgery did you have? Replacement? My doctor has said I need knee replacement surgery, but I'm very apprehensive about it. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Packing today for a 3-day weekend in Galveston. I love the beach in the "off" season. I'm going with my daughter and her two boys (12 & 7) to celebrate her 41st Birthday (10/30). Also, going to tour NASA. Will be lots of fun!
Hugs & prayers to all. See you back here on Monday. Have a great & safe weekend.

Sandra, I had total knee replacement on my left knee. I already had one done on my right knee, plus a revision. Right knee still isn't the greatest, but I have to live with it. Left knee seems to be getting better, but hurts like hell today after PT ... he really worked me over. I was happy to get home to my pain killers and my ice packs.
No words of wisdom ... I put off the left knee for awhile and it was so bad, I became knock-kneed. My doc said it could be a cause for complications, but fortunately, it wasn't. So far, so good. My right knee, however, was a problem. I still have pain, swelling and it buckles on me. But all the doctors I've seen say it looks good. Doesn't feel good to me. I have had two surgeries on it.
Just got back in town and saw your reply. Thanks for the info. Guess my biggest concerns are blood clots and how much improvement there really will be. But not too far down the line I'll have to bite the bullet and get it done. It sure isn't going away. Glad to hear you are doing well with the surgery this time.
