Thursday What's New With You?
Yes, blood clots are a concern. I don't have a history of them, so I wasn't so concerned about that. I have a history of leg swelling and not going down for anything ... after my first surgery (well, nearly eight months after), both legs swelled up for no apparent reason and they continued to do that even after the second one. Same thing happened on the left one ... tried to explain that to the doc at the hospital that it was common. They tried everything ... compression socks, a stronger diuretic, elevation ... still swollen. I told them, no one has been able to figure it out.
If I were you, I'd do a lot of research on it, go into eyes wide open. You must set realistic goals, which I did ... I wasn't looking to run a marathon, just walk decently. And that's what I want now. I want to be able to walk, sit, sleep, live with a minimum of pain (I don't expect to have zero pain ... I know my right knee will always hurt).
I think (hope) I have realistic expectations, but like you said I need to do more research. I just would like to be able to climb stairs and walk longer with less pain not zero pain. I'm 65 so I'm sure it will take awhile to recover, but I'm fortunate to live with my oldest child, Sarah, and her family. My second child, Emily, is close and works in the medical field. My youngest child, Ernie and wife Amanda are also close, just up the road in New Braunfels. I have lots of support which is a huge blessing...just need to wrap my mind around the surgery and recovery process. Thanks for listening.

Happy Birthday Trish. Glad your power is back.
It was cold and wet last night for Halloween here. Sitting outside giving out candy my feet froze. My husband kept saying how warm it was.
Have to have a heart monitor for two weeks. I was dreading it. The one I had before you could not take it of to shower. Hurray this one I can.
