Thursday What's New With You?

Good Morning Family,
Busy days for me.  I hd to clean up mold on my Aerobed, so I could take it with me to Michigan.  I mixed water and bleach in a spray bottle, and sprayed it.  Put fans on it to dry.  Then, got called  I also had to throw the set of sheets into the washer with detergent and bleach.  The sheets are no longer green, but they are free of mold and mildew.  Once the mattress was dry, I sprayed Febreeze on it everywhere, and it smells so nice now.]

Today, I have to scoot down to Philadelphia to a Polish butcher to get some really good kielbasi for my daughter.  Then to my volunteer job, for several hours.  Afterward, I head to the campaign office to do some phone calls.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Hugs,
Trish

Morning Trish, OFF friends. . .

Sounds like another busy day for you!

I'm at work, trying to stay happy considering that I don't get to eat anything today, prepping for a colonoscopy, so broth, tea, juice and pops are all I'm allowed, now can someone tell me why they don't make pops without red, purple or orange?  I did see some boxes with green, but those had mostly the colors I could not eat and I just refused to buy them, cause they would go to waste and I also am limited in my freezer, sharing it as I do with two other people. . .  anyway, Tony told my roommates last night, that they might want to stay at a motel until after my test (lol). . .  he came down and we went to Longhorn where we shared the Porterhouse Steak dinner for two, so tomorrow after my procedure, I will enjoy some of the leftovers. . .lol.  I guess the positive about all this is that I will lose a couple of pounds for a day or so (lol). . .

Yup, I'm a food addict. . .

Work now, noontime AA meeting and home to drink the nasty stuff and let it do it's work. . . the fun parts of aging are all the tests we need to do periodically to make sure everything is working as it should and nothing is hiding where it should not be. . .

Hope everyone is well and for any facing challenges, I send good thoughts your way!

Hugs, Laureen

Hi Laureen,
I wasn't happy with the need to not eat any red food when I prepped for my colonoscopy.  I did drink apple juice to keep my blood sugar up.  And I bought no sugar added water ices, and only at the lemon ones.  I saved the cherry ones for another time.

All in all, the prep was not as bad as I had remembered it from years ago.  But then, living alone, I didn't have to share my space, or bathroom with anyone.

Hope your test goes well.

Hugs,
Trish

I have two bathrooms and one is really "my" bathroom, as it is in the part of the house I live in. . . the addition I put up almost 4 years ago, so I'm good there. . . I saw the no sugar added ices, but figured I could manage without them, had they been all lemon I'd have bought the. . .  I bought the Motts Totts, 50% less sugar and I was told to get "White Cranberry". . . Also bought the more expensive Swanson Unsalted Cooking Stock, cause it has 4 grams of protein in each cup and only 20 calories. . . so I'm good, drinking lots of decaf tea. . . and hopefully, the prep is not as bad, though I had to mix it this morning and start drinking at 8 tonight.. .  think I will start a little earlier, as I am an early to bed person and then I have to get up 6 hours before I'm scheduled to drink part B. . .fun, fun, fun. . .  Thanks

Laureen,

All I can say is UGH!!! The prep is the bad part of the test. Tom's doctor lets him take a hand full of laxatives. Mine says to mix up the yucky concoction and drink one in the morning, the other at night. Then put the hazmat sign on the bathroom door.

Mine is supposed to be drunk at 8 p.m. this evening and then the rest 6 hours before I am scheduled to be there. . . guess sleep is not an option, along with solid food (lol). . .  Tom is lucky. . .

Good morning Trish and everyone......

Trish.....how did your Aerobed and sheets get moldy? Hope the mixture helps. It is hard to get rid of that smell. I would love some really good kielbasi. That is just the best!!! How are you feeling now??

Laureen....I don't envy you the next couple days. However, I will be doing the same thing next week....UGH!! Hope all goes well for you!

I had a horrible nights sleep last night. I think I have been sleeping too much during the day. I do feel better today just tired. I got up and cleaned the house about 1AM. Now all I need to do is vacuum.

I don't have much planned at all today. I plan on taking care of myself today so I feel good for the weekend. I did get up early and made a huge pot of vegetable soup. I cooked up some ground turkey to add to it for protein. It already smells good!!  I made my 7 quart Crock Pot full. I plan on freezing individual servings. Next week I will make chili and do the same thing. Nothing like good soup and chili in the cold weather!!

Wishing you all a nice day!! Prayers for so many of my OFF/OH friends today!

Love   and Hugs   to all.....connie d

I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you Connie. . . lol. . .  not just on the colonscopy. . .  two weeks ago I made a pot of split pea soup with a ham bone, have it frozen in the freezer and then this past weekend I made a pot of a very "peasant type" persian bean stew, made with white lima beans, chick peas and some lamb stew, along with a lemon, lime and seasonings. ..  after it cooks, you make a mash out of it, something my children's dad used to make, boy oh boy is it good and healthy. . .  the other night I made chili and froze that. . .  all I do is cook and freeze and shop in the freezer after a while, my roommates don't get a lot of room in the freezer because of me, though I try to put most of the stuff in the fridge I have in the basement. . .  I've come to realize that I really enjoy the whole process surrounding cooking, which is funny because for years, being as I lived alone, I could not be bothered, I've always been a good cook, but cook for me?  why bother. . . that has changed since just prior to having my surgery, because I wanted to eat good, healthy food and so I began the process of reworking some of the stuff I liked but could not eat in the fashion it used to be made. . .  can't say I've figured out how to have KFC (lol) healthily, don't really miss that kind of food anymore, but I do enjoy this time of year, because cooking is more fun when it's not hot out. . .  it's good that you are taking care of yourself and planning healthy meals for yourself. . .  sounds like you are on an upswing. . .

Hugs, Laureen
