Well four more days to go and then I start the journey to Texas for the winter.
Eileen- So happy for your brother getting a job and glad to hear the you're doing well with the knee replacement. I learned yesterday that I need a knee replacement and will spend the winter researching the right technique and place to have it as like you I live alone with a cat.
Trish - hope you're feeling better.
So this week has been a challenge with comfort eating to relieve the stress and anxiety I put on myself during transition. Adding to that is that I have an appointment with my surgeon and nutrition on Tuesday. I'm dealing with a weight gain from the summer. Fortunately, the scale showed that I've lost the weight over the last ten days of protein shakes, Greek yogurt and one real meal a day.
Monday this wee****pt hearing my pump engage. Went to investigate what was dripping in the little guest cabin and found that the pipe that had been repaired by a neighbor on Sunday was leaking all night and the floor and carpet were soaked. Another neighbor let me borrow her Hoover carpet cleaner and I was able to get a lot of the water up. Vacuumed again on Tuesday and then realized that the foam pad was soaked as well and things were starting to sour. Handyman came over about another problem I have with that cabin and we decided to rip up the carpet. Glad I made that decision because the subfloor was soaked as well. So now I have four fans running in the cabin along with a dehumidifier trying to dry out the subflooring. Hoping it all dries out by Tuesday when I start my southward migration.
Went to the Orthopedist yesterday. They xrayed my right knee and compared the new xrays to ones they had done in 2008. More deterioration and now have bone on bone in my inner knee joint. Solution is knee replacement next summer. Will have to make the decision in January in order to get the surgery scheduled for June. Have a lot of research to do in the next few months to decide where to have the surgery and what type of surgery to have. My Mom wants me to have the surgery with her surgeon and in NC but I don't think that's the best solution so lots to think about.
Well, got to run and put more stuff in the car while it's not raining. Supposed to rain most of the weekend so taking advantage of breaks in the rain to put things in the car. Have PT and a chiro appointment on Monday and then early Tuesday I'll head to Bangor to see my WLS surgeon and the NUT. Then off to NH to see my PCP and shrink. Should officially get started to Texas on Saturday the 13th.

Aloha Cindi....I have gone through a similar experience with flooding of my condo. I woke up in the middle of the night and heard water gushing. Went into the kitchen and water was pouring out of the dishwasher!! Didn't realize it had gone all the way into the living room until I stepped on the rug and it squished!! It was 2:00 in the morning so after I panicked, I turned off the water under the sink and waited til morning.
Long story short.......my insurance paid for an all new kitchen (mine was like 30 years old!), a new carpet and a new couch. I was very very lucky. Today I have a modern kitchen ... something I never could have afforded if that hadn't happened. Did you check with your insurance carrier??

Long story short.......my insurance paid for an all new kitchen (mine was like 30 years old!), a new carpet and a new couch. I was very very lucky. Today I have a modern kitchen ... something I never could have afforded if that hadn't happened. Did you check with your insurance carrier??

I am taking my friend Pam to a couple appointments today. I also need to go find a new larger "Crockpot". I have a medium size one in storage....no way to find that! I left my large one in Iowa when I left. We used it so much. It was the kind that automatically went to warm when the timed cooking was done. I really liked that. Now I am having trouble finding one. Maybe I should check the internet....think I will!!
My sister was much better yesterday....lets pray it lasts!!!

Not a lot going on here today. I missed the trash pickup! Darn it. I hate when I do that.
It's supposed to get nice and cool here by Sunday. Lows in the mid-40s. But then it will warm up again by the end of next week. We don't really have a "fall" in South Texas. Which is okay with me, as I don't like cold weather, but it IS nice to get a little break from the heat and humidity.
Cindi, I'm so sorry about the leak! I'm glad you're coming back to Texas. We'll plan a get together, okay? Don't know exactly when, since I'm more or less tied down with Benny, but we'll manage something. And I'm sorry to hear about the knee surgery. Hopefully it will go well and you'll feel better afterwards.
