Good Morning Everyone,
It's been a long time since I posted. I hope everyone is doing well. There isn't much going on in my corner of the world- just work and a bit of play. I am struggling with regain- I know the drill, just am not always compliant. My work is getting harder in that I am required to cover more each year... so the salary has not gotten larger in years, but the job has because we are having to do more with less staff. It's the story of our world now I guess. I truly love my job but I am looking into retirement.
Today I am meeting some women for breakfast and after that we are having a few hours of crafting together.
Fall is close- I can feel it even here in California!
I'd love to see some of our "oldies" post today. Come out, come out, wherever you are!

Good Morning Julia,

This weekend, I have two of my grandbabies.  My granddaughter, who's five, wanted to sew.  Well, we made her baby doll a blanket, a pillow, and a gown.  It's really hard to not say, here, let me do it. She sits in my lap ( I have so much lap these days), and I push the foot thing, and I help her guide the cloth.  So, she has had a huge day sewing and tonight, before she took a bath, I let her do some needle point.  I swear she is just like I was at her age.  Before I turned six, I was already crocheting and helping my nanny quilt.

My DH is due to have his second transplant soon.   I was hoping we could wait until next summer but my husband is anxious to get his vision restored in his left eye.  I am always amazed at how he has such good eye sight in the eye that was blind for so long.

I am having huge pain in my knees and lower back.  The university is building a new dorm right across from my building and there are like six other huge buildings going up so there are cranes and fences up and men working and we are all being detoured all over campus.  I can no longer walk straight to the gym.  For the longest time, I walked down the hill and to the gym and walked back up the hill.  But, they built a gym closer to my office, so I got spoiled just walking a block away and back.  Now, I am detoured and am walking on very uneven grounds and I guess it has messed up my knees.   I went to see my rhemotologists and he did an mri and injected both knees.  Well, he called me Friday and said that I need to get new knees.

So, I guess my Christmas holiday will be spent getting knees.  Great!  I am going to see the ortho doctor in two weeks and I'm going to ask if he can just clean them up a little and maybe give me a few more years.  Who knows…it might work.    Well, eyes are heavy so this is it for the night.  See you all tomorrow.

 Good Morning Family,
Well, I. Am aboard another train, this time to Center City Philadelphia. My son's marathon start in less than an hour. He'll be running by his hotel which is a few minutes from the train station, then a couple of blocks in the other direction. Then his wife and I have time to get to the finish line.

I have to share that I am disappointed because I learned his Dad is not going to be there. I almost sent him an e-mail but my sponsor suggested not to, because it's none of my business. I just know how hard my son trains and what an accomplishment each race is.

Well, gotta scoot.

Hugs and prayers for all.
Trish

Good morning Julia and everyone......

Julia....what a wonderful surprise to see you starting the thread today!! I have missed you!
Many of us are having regain issues. We are working hard at heading back in the right direction. Not as easy as it once was!
I can understand why you are looking into retirement. You are right, more is expected and with no more pay. I know you love your job but this makes it so much more difficult. Good Luck!!

Jeannie....always good to see you post!! I am glad you are having so much fun with your granddaughter. So many awesome memories being made and reliving your own memories too. That is priceless!!!
Hope and pray all goes well with your husband's next transplant. I can't blame him for wanting better sight. No wonder he wants it done more quickly as the first transplant  worked so well.
I hope they can just "clean up" your knees so you won't need replacements yet. Prayers for you too!!!

Trish.....enjoy watching your son's marathon. That is so exciting!! I am sure he is happy to have you there!!!

Today the VIKINGS play so I am very happy!!  Hope they do as well as last week!!

Wishing you all a great day!! Many prayers for those in need.

Love  and hugs  to all.....connnie d

Good Morning Off friends.
It is good to see some of our missing friends post!!!
Jeanie I can understand your husbands desire for full vision.  I have helped a sister deal with her vision impairment for 30 years and  watched mom slowly lose her vision.  we live in such a visual world.  I honestly I could handle any handicap the good Lord gives me but  vision loss;   Here's hoping  you can avoid knee replacement for a few more years if the Dr can do some fixing to fix your pain!
I am still looking for that elusive job.  Its so frustrating,  Always before when I wanted a job  I started looking and found one shortly;   Now nothing~   I realize with a bad back/hip thing  and such severe allergies  it is difficult  especially in this economy where lots of people are unemployed  but there has to be a job I can do !   I don't care what kind of job  oh white collar dress up office kind would be nice  but if I needed to be a factory worker or a shelf stocker   I'm good with that.   I just need to work a few years so we can realize our retirement dreams.
Ok  enough whining from Owosso on this bright pretty day!   time to get it in gear  get some clothes on and head to Church then a church picnic honoring  a long time church worker;  Prayers going up from our house to all of yours;
Hope you all have a bright happy Sunday everyone!

Good morning Julia and my OFF sistas!

Well, I'm not an "oldie", but I'll chime in this morning anyway!  LOL!

Had the best time with my hubby yesterday.  We went on a shopping expedition and out to lunch--all without the baby.  It was great to just have some couple time alone together.

It's a rainy cool morning here in the Hill Country.  I love it when the AC can be turned off for part of the day.  Maybe my electric bill will finally catch a break this month!

Gearing up for a trip back to Nacogdoches this next week.  We'll be there for about a week, maybe a little more.  I have several appointments lined up: hair cut, dentist, eye doctor, etc.  Hubby has his quarterly checkup for his prostate cancer.  I am also scheduled to have an endometrial ablation procedure done.  Cross your fingers for me.  I am hoping this will end the miserable heavy long periods I've been experiencing for the past year.  Can't believe I am 55 and still dealing with this issue.  I thought menopause was suppose to happen before now.

I'm going to bake a batch of cranberry orange muffins this morning.  I love to bake, but I don't do it often.  It's too hard to resist the end results!

Love you all!

Vickie, I had that procedure in my early forties because of the heavy periods. It worked great. I only had a day of spotting when I got my period after it. Of course, I haven't had a period since 2007.

Hello to all,

Been fighting a sinus headache, trying to make sure it doesn't go into a migraine. Not much is going on, having a laid backed day.

Vickie I had an ablation done 7 years ago, best thing that I have done, after a few weeks of spotting I never had another period. Once again it was just the gas that was so uncomfortable.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Big hugs,

Debbie

Good afternoon from another 'oldie'.

Fall is in the air here too. I can tell that the mice are looking for a Winter home - the darned cats catch them in the basement and carry the critters upstairs to show me. when the mice are trying to nest we don't have the 6 Black CatBlack CatBlack CatBlack CatBlack CatBlack Cat black beauties all over the house because they are downstairs hunting.

Last week I was out walking the dogs. We were headed inside when there was a rustle in the grass, a bit of dark fur, then chomp - Jerry Dog 1had it in his mouth. I shook him by the halter and he swallowed it whole. Gag

A lot of other life is happening - some good, some bad, but it keeps me busy.

Kisses
